Defect SummaryOn certain motorcycles, the clips that retain the wiring for the front fender tip light can become detached from the fender, causing the wires to fray and short.
Consequence SummaryThis could cause the lighting system fuse to blow, leaving the vehicle without an operational front fender tip light, headlight, taillight, running lights, and passing lamps (if equipped).
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the fender tip light wiring harness retention clips, and inspect and replace, if necessary, any damaged wiring harnesses. owner notification began january 9, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact harley-davidson at 1-414-342-4680.

 While driving at high speeds and at high temperatures oil sprayed from the air cleaner. the hot oil sprayed backwards onto the lower pants leg of the consumer. also, the oil sprayed on the rear tire and the rear brake pad. dealer examined the vehicle ten times. *ak

 Scpd purchased 4, 2001 flhpi, 3 of which have experienced belt separations. we have had several other flhpi since 1998 - 2002, without a single failure. all three are low speed separations. dealer admitted a problem with belts in storage being defective, but did not make it onto motorcycles. harley said they will examin each case individually!*ak
