Defect SummaryHeartland has notified nhtsa of a noncompliance on certain model year 2010-2011 trail runner and north country travel trailers for failing to comply with the requirements of part 567, certification. the federal identification label does not contain the correct gross axle weight rating (gawr) information. the label states the gawr for each axle to be 5,200 lbs when the actual gawr is 5,080 lbs.
Consequence SummaryTowing a vehicle with the axles loaded beyond the specified weight rating may result in axle failure leading to poor vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage or personal injury.

 Tl-the contact owns a 2010 heartland north trail trailer equipped with duro bias st205/75/14 (n/a). the contact detected that all four trailer tires tread belt exhibited severe cracks and dry rotted. additionally, the spare tire exhibited the identical defect. the tires defect occurred prematurely. the tires had not been replaced at the time of the complaint. there was no mileage on the trailer. the contact had concern of the potential safety hazard. js
