Defect SummaryThe storage compartment at the rear of the unit does not have a specified storage weight limitation and can therefore be loaded beyond the manufacturer's intentions. also some units were designed with a fresh water tank located at the rear of the unit. as a result, these trailers exhibit reduced stability while being towed.
Consequence SummaryOverloading of the rear storage compartment especially with a full, rear-mounted fresh water tank, can cause reduced trailer stability and increase the potential for an accident.
Corrective SummaryDealers will place a label on the storage compartment to indicate the maximum storage weight capacity, will relocate the fresh water tank on the affected models, and install a hensley arrow hitch which will provide a better towing stability. the hensley arrow hitch will not be a required part for the remedy on the 1995 aluma-lite 31cfs travel trailer due to the unit's shorter length.

After arriving home, we discovered that the trailer roof had or was sagging on the front cusb side. it was sagged enough to leave standing water to the center of the unit. this has also caused a failure with the tv antenna in not being able to rotate it. we did notify mr. james sheldon, president of hrc of this new problem. after a six week wait for his response, he suggested that we take the unit to a hrc dealer for investigation. we advised that we were now setup for the winter in a camp ground. we asked, in as much has this was probably a result of the body jumping around for the past 24,000 miles, if they would have their dealer inspect on site. he refused. we left for nys the end of may stopping at our selling dealer, rhone's travel trailer in cogan station, pa for the roof insection. by this time, we had developed a leak in the front roof area. rhone's sevice manager exaimed the roof and said that the cure would be worse than the problem. they recoated the roof, fixed the leak, lubed the antenna base and charged us. hrc would not cover these repairs under the extended warrant they issued (due to the lack of bolting the body to the frame) or under the standard 5 year body warranty.
