Defect SummaryA washer in the cargo area light may not be properly attached, and may have fallen in the cargo light during assembly. if this occurred, and the three position light switch is in the middle position, and the tailgate is open, the washer can cause a short circuit in the light.

 Tl*the contact owns a 1991 honda accord. the vehicle caught fire from the engine compartment while it was parked. the fire spread throughout the vehicle and ignited into flames when it reached the brake line and fuel tank. the vehicle rolled backwards into the street. the fire marshall and police were called to the scene. a police report was filed. based on the preliminary investigation, the fire marshall stated that the vehicle does not appear to have been tampered. the contact was informed that the fire originated near or around the passenger seat. nhtsa campaign id number 91v195000 (interior lighting). the front windshield was cracked and caved inwards, the garage door windows melted and fell, and the address numbers on the house melted. the vin and engine size were unknown. the current and failure mileages were 115,000.
