LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES - DOORS - LATCH

The locking mechanism in the driver's side door on my 92 honda accord is broken and will not allow the door to open from the inside or the outside. i consider this to be a safety concern. in order to get out of my car, i have to crawl/climb to the passenger side of the car and exit the car that way. if i needed to exit my car in an emergency, say a fire in my car, it would take me more time to get into the passenger seat and then exit the car than if i could just open my driver's side door. please look into this matter and consider this as a recall. i have done some research on the internet and have seen several other people that have had this same issue. i contacted honda about getting this repaired and it would cost $250+ for the part and then labor would be $72 per hour and it would take 2.5 hours to fix it. that does not include my local taxes. this may not seem like it is too much to get it fixed but for a guy with a family of 5 and only one income, it is allot of money. thank you for your time. *tr

I do not remember the exact date or mileage but am fairly close. i was told by sims that this was a common problem with '92 accords--the door latch refuses to open and has to be drilled costing $520. i was carrying a 5 gal can of gas that i heard tip in the trunk. i was at a stop light and went to hop out fast to check but could not get out. i called honda again and asked if there was a recall. again they said i would have to pay and it was a common problem. i have injured my knees and disc trying to get in and out. i cannot afford to pay for this and it is dangerous. if it weren't a common problem, i would not say anything, but if it is common, something should have been done about it, don't you think?*ak
