Upon inspection of the vehicle by a certified mechanic, the sub-frame : rear beam - cross beam ( part number 50200-s84-a00 ) was found rusted and unsafe. it is located on the passenger side, near the rear of the front tire. the sub-frame component is rusted through on the top side, with holes, leaving only the lower portion of it holding the engine and suspension in place. it was determined a safety issue and failed inspection. looks like a design flaw that collected water. expensive part and repair. honda is not covering it. the rest of the undercarriage and frame was in good condition. i took the vehicle to a local dealers service department, and they said that this is a definite safety issue, and the sub-frame component needs to be replaced.

During the regularly scheduled maintenance for this vehicle, i was told the sub-frame had eroded to the point where the vehicle was too dangerous to drive. as this was a northern car, i expected a certain amount of rust and there had been some paint corrosion. the mechanics stated they had never seen such an extreme erosion of the sub-frame and suggested i contact honda to determine if this had been reported and recalled, particularly since it had the potential to be such a hazard. honda stated they have not heard of such defects and there have been no recalls. i do not understand how this is possible since the sub-frame should not rust through, particularly since it jeopardizes the integrity of the entire vehicle operation.

I was alerted to a potential problem with the subframe of my vehicle that has caused me to park it. the problem is that the rear subframe has rusted to the point that it is broken in three places. the rear subframe is located in the rear part of the engine compartment and supports the engine and front suspension. i was driving this car for an unknown length of time in this condition. i was informed that this is a safety concern and that the car should not be driven. the portion of the subframe that attaches to the sway bar is completly broken loose from the frame. the location of the rust is under the outlet of the air conditioning condensate drain. this is the only location where the sub frame is rusted. the distilled water coming out of the air conditioner is corrosive to metals. in my opinion this is a design defect that could have been repaired using a very modest cost hose, fitting and perhaps a clamp to re-route the condensate drain away from the sutructural members of the car. repair of this problem has been quoted at $1600. the car is unsafe to drive. the center for auto safety has requested a recall of these vehicles. many of these cars are still on the road and tend to be driven up to 200,000 miles. this flaw is not readily detectable and is definately a safety concern. at a minimum owners should be made aware of the potential problem.

 Transmission failure.

The clear coat/paint is peeling/wearing off of my 1999 honda accord. it is causing the vehicle to look horrible. thousands of other honda owners are having the same issue. clearly this is a result of defective paint. i previously owned a 1993 accord and at 196,000 miles, the paint looked a hundred times better then the paint on my 1999. to have the car repainted, it will cost over $1000. this is unacceptable and honda should be held accountable for this defect and the paint be recalled.

I have a honda accord ex and the subfram rotted all the way thought. how is that possible? as i look on the internet i see that it is a common issue on accords. is honda aware of this?

My car's transmission shifts badly. when shifting between 1st and second gear it jumps badly and sometimes wont shift at all. and even from second to third it does it too. after i'm in the higher gears it shifts better. but in those early gears my car is dangerous. i'm afraid it might completely stop working one day. i've read online all the complaints people have about my same year of accord and the years surrounding it: almost all of them have a faulty transmission. i think that honda needs to fess up about their faulty trasmission and do a real recall. i'm one of many concerned honda owners and wish that they would own up to the problem. many people wont be going back to honda brand cars because of this problem, including me.

Horn button needs repair but is integral to a very expensive airbag assembly, making the horn repair financially unachievable, resulting in consumers driving cars with inoperable horns, very unsafe.

Driving down the highway and my 1999 honda accord ex. shuts off. the steering whell sometimes tightens up but this last time i was able to pull over without a problem. good thing i was in the right hand lane close to the shoulder. my car has been doing this for a while and cannot figure out why. at first it would go down to a really low idle before it shut off but now it just turns off. it's even worse now that i changed the spark plugs.

Car died as if someone turned the key off. first 5 times it was while slowing down. last time on 2/7/11 was going 65 mph on freeway and was in the middle lane of traffic when it just quit running as if i turned the key off. it was due to faulty ignition switch. honda claims that my particular vehicle was not part of a recall for this identical problem, however, many honda's of that year and other years were included in the recall. there was a recall for another part of the ignition system that covered my year and model. that was not the problem.

My 1999 honda accord keeps stalling on me without any warning. i'm able to restart it again but it cuts off again. after a few more attempts it will stay running but will stall again without any signs of a problem. this has happened to me while trying to enter the entrace of the freeway. i'm lucky i wasn't hit from behind...very dangerous when you have kids in the car with you. i've been told by honda dealer that it's the ignition switch...a $400.00 plus cost to fix.

While driving on i-75south bound all of sudden my car (1999 honda accord) stalled, immediately i put the car in neutral and moved to the shoulder, i realised this was an issues with my ignition switch. i could hold the ignition key and drive.i called a tow truck and he took me to the nearest mechanic who said there was a recall on the ignition switch. he gave me temporary fix that would get me home and i could talk to my honda dealer. the issue is if there was a recall and if was fixed (next my dealer told me that my recall was fixed) why did it occur again. was the fix done during the recall was not good enough? is there a really an problem with ignition switch? i had the car fixed at the dealer again.

Driving on highway at 75 miles an hour - check engine light flashed - all dashboard lights flashed and car died...barely made it to side of the road without getting hit. car was towed, diagnosis was bad ignition switch. i just searched web and found there was a recall in 2002

As i was driving down hwy 95 in maryland the engine died. luckily i was in the right lane so i was able to coast off the road to the shoulder. the problem has occurred several times since and the mechanics i have taken the car to have not been able to find the problem.
