Tl-the contact owns a 2000 honda accord ex. the contact stated that after driving somewhere and re-entering the vehicle it would not start up. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who advised him that the pcm and the fuel pressure regulator needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired for the fuel pressure regulator. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000. tb

After driving my 2000 honda v6 coupe for 30 minutes or more, it would have problems starting if shut off for about 20 minutes. it would start and then stall. the only way to get it started is to give it gas and shift into gear quickly which is dangerous. also there was a tsb 00-024 for this and i got it done for close to $710. this really isn't fair as i didn't do anything wrong to have this issue. it is clearly a case of a manufacturing defect.

Tl* the contact owns a 2000 honda accord. the contact stated when driving the vehicle in hot weather and the engine was shut off, the vehicle would intermittently restart itself without warrant. the failure would occur without the key being in the ignition. the dealer advised there was a technical service bulletin available for the failure but no recalls. the manufacturer would not provide any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 honda accord. after the vehicle was started, the air bag and service engine indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was driven to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic, but found no defects. immediately following, the contact noticed that the cooling fan would remain activated for long periods of time after the vehicle was turned off. she also stated that she could only place half a tank of gasoline in the vehicle. the vehicle would stall when it had a full tank of fuel. the vehicle was driven to the dealer a second time for a diagnostic and no defects were found. the cause of the failures have not been determined. the manufacturer has not been notified and the vehicle has not been repaired. the current mileage was 199,259 and failure mileage was 180,000.

Surge on acceleration. from a cold start my car excels normally. if make a stop for a few minutes or a couple of hours get in and it accelerates to about 20-25mph and dies. if i hold the pedal it will accel after a few second, if i pump the pedal a couple of time it will accel. cruising at 65+ i can feel a slight jerking. this all started after getting a check engine light and code po131 to replace the primary o2 sensor. a new sensor was the oem equivalent from autozone. if i disconnect the o2 sensor the problem goes away. car is well maintained and has 228,000 miles. *tr

I have difficult starting the honda, it happened more than ten times. it only happen when the car is warm - never a cold morning. you can force it to start by putting more gas thru the accelerator. but when i put the car in drive it will die on the rolling. this almost caused me an accident. i took the car to the dealer, the honda dealer cannot find any thing wrong with it. i search on the database and it might be related to a vapor lock issue with the honda accord 2000 v6. (odi-719977). please investigate and issue some hazard warning to the public.

Honda admits a problem with the 2000 redesign of their v6 engines. this causes a vapor lock type problem, which has caused my car to be difficult to start on 7 occasions. on one occasion, the car started but then died again as i backed out of a parking space, which could have resulted in an accident if there had been oncoming traffic. honda told me that they fixed the problem during a service on january 31, 2000. when i reported that the car still has problems, i was told that the previous fix was not the definitive fix after all. they say they are waiting for epa approval of the definitive fix. if this is true, they should be forced to issue a recall, not just a service bulletin, since a safety hazard exists when the car dies in traffic. *ak

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - CARBURETOR SYSTEM
11/02/200235460011/02/2002
I recently purchased a 4 cylinder, 2000 honda accord, lx with 35000 miles on it. the next day, i noticed that the gas pedal was not responding to slight foot pressure when the car was first used in the morning. it seemed to be sticking and then suddenly respond to foot pressure. because of this condition, the car would suddenly lurch forward when pressing on the accelerator pedal. i took the vehicle to the dealer who told me it was an inherent problem with the 2000 accord and told me there was no remedy or recall for the problem. they didn't tell me that when i bought the car. i then took the car to a local auto service business whom i have been dealing with for over 15 years. they told me the problem was caused by a build-up of carbon on the accellerator linkage- especially in the 2000 honda. i had him clean the deposit ($60 plus $4.50 for carbon solvent) which immediately remedied the sticking. he told me that it should be done every 10k miles or whever it becomes sticky again. i really believe this is a safety issue and honda should come up with a correction and recall of all 2000 accords that may be affected. do i have any recourse with honda? have you received any other complaints about this? any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you.

My 2000 honda accord se start to developing a problem during the last sevreral months. when it is started first time in the morning after parked overnight, the throttle of the car feels stucked. i have to press the throttle really hard to get rid of the stuck, by doing so, the vehicle will accelarate absurdly because of the hard pressing on the throttle pedal(i.e., at first it is stucked, when you push the throttle pedal really hard, the throttle will get loose suddenly and the vehicle starts to accelerate absurdly)

On three separate occassions my car would not start. i had to make several attempts and eventually it would start but would not stay running unless i kept giving it gas. the service manager said the problem was caused by the winter fuel formula. this was causing a boiling of the fuel and a vapor lock condition. he also said honda was aware that this was happening only in the v6 and they were working on a fix. to date i have not been notified by honda or my dealer that a fix is available.
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - DELIVERY - FUEL PUMP

I purchased a certified used car from dublin honda with a little over 7k miles, around the 12th of august 2001. my car started stalling while driving when the gas tank was between 1/4-1/8 tank. i also noticed a black flap hanging under my car and a lot of duct tape wrapped around the front axel and caught on the tires. it took three trips to the service department. they finally removed the fuel tank and found damage fuel tank damage and damage under fuel pump. they said but did not put in writing that there was a patch on an area of the damage. they asked me what i had hit, which i hadn't hit as there was a patch repair in the area. i have not hit anything. therefore honda sold me a car that was damaged and did not report this to me. what i really want is honda to replace my car with a new one. i know that it is illegal to sell a damaged car without the purchasers notified of any defects, etc. and i was not. my car stalled while driving 75 miles and hour on a very busy freeway and therefore i could not get off the freeway and had too many near misses from other cars to want to remember. i thought at what point that i was going to die out there. i could see the headlines. hospice nurse dies on freeway after visiting patient. *jb

Car fuel injection system completely failed in heavy traffic almost causing a major collision on i-94 in chicago, il. the main relay system had to be replaced. this is a major hazard, and honda must be forced to look into this. this is the same car where the transmission had to be completely replaced within a year. something must be done, for the safety of drivers and other vehicle drivers who may be involved in these vehicle failures. *nm

Accelerator sticks when car has been sitting for a while causing excessive acceleration during first pedal depression. potential problem in tight parking lot situations. dealer not contacted. car out of warranty.
06/12/200109/01/2000
The wires that connect to the fuel injectors appear to have their insulation melted away revealing the copper wire. multiple injector wires are involved. the insulation is missing a third of the circumferance and about 17mm in length. i suspect excess engine heat has caused this defect. the defect was only spotted when the plastic engine cover was removed during in installation of a aftermarket cruise control device.

In may of 2008 my 2000 honda accord lost power while driving and would not restart. all of the gas ran out from the front of the car. the computer board had gone out. the computer board was replaced by another mechanic and then was towed to the honda dealership to be reprogrammed. since then it has gone back and was diagnosed with misfires. the coil packs , plugs and wires, fuel injectors, egr valve all have been replaced. the car is still spitting and sputtering like it is running on 4 cylinders and it is a v6. i have researched and there seems to be alot of these problems. also the srs light stays on and you can turn the car off and remove the key without the car being in park. i never received any kind of recall from the dealerships on this recall. this car was bought new in 2000. *tr

The alternator went out on the car with approximately 55,000 miles which is way too soon. the check engine light came on a couple of weeks later and had to replace the egr valve (covered under warranty). the right headlamp has been replaced at least 5 times since owning the car. it has been checked for an electrical short and nothing could be found. the factory-installed cd player failed at approximately 37,000 miles. i have always heard good things about the honda, but i have not been too pleased with all the little nitpicking stuff. the original tires were replaced at the approximately 50000 mile mark. the new tires were dunlaps which failed within 8 months. hopefully the new ones will make it.*ak

Engine will fire and then immediatly stall if engine is already warm. otherwise it will run fine. a trouble code was taken from the computer (p1399) which honda tells me does not exist for a 2000 accord. another honda rep told me that the fuel pressure regulator does not read well with winter fuels in warmer (50-60f) weather. the warrantee on this part only goes to 80,000 miles.
