| Since new the speedometer has been reading 8 to 9% in error-verified by the dealer service department. honda claims a 10% variance is normal. this can be a concern while driving the car-may be driving at the posted limits or i may not be if the calibration is off and is waverying in its readings. *ak | |||

| Premature power steering pump failure as exhibited by whining noise coming from the unit. dealer acknowledges this noise will lead to power steering failure, that the failure (at 60000 miles in this case) is premature, and that there is an apparent pattern of such failures in honda accord cars. the dealer refused to do anything and said the manufacturer is not looking into the problem in spite of its safety implications and the apparent pattern of failures. | |||

| Dt: 2000 honda accord ex - the power steering rack and pinion broke. while driving my vehicle the maintenance indicator came on and stayed on and i didn't have any power steering. took to the honda dealership and they stated that the rack pinion had broke. the vehicle has not been fixed. the dealership did not provide any information on recall or safety defect on this problem. the dealership did not give any indication on why this happened. *ak updated 12/27/2005 - *nm | |||

| Honda says they will not cover the part because they say it cracked and there might be evidence of a hit. but the car has never had an acident and honda says they will not cover the part. i think this poses a significant saftey thread. and if any body dies due to falure of this part in the future honda should be charged.*ak | |||
