| I bought my honda from the dealership 06/23/12, 1 owner completely serviced through the dealership then traded in at same dealership. when bought it had 101,793 miles, timing belt was done at 90k and power steering pump. not even month later i had to replace throttle body. i've always felt something wrong with the transmission after bought car. on 11/10/2012 out of no where when i was getting off the freeway my car started to down shift really hard, was jerking while driving and then was stuck in first gear, luckily i was less than a mile from my house so i drove home then parked it and no indicator lights on. the next morning (today) called a friend who works on hondas and he looked at it and said the transmission fluid was very dirty and practically gone. drove around the block twice and transmission was working fine. then later drove about 8 miles and started hard down shifting and was stuck in first gear. then parked and tried to put my car in reverse and it not move acted like was in neutral. put it in park, turned it off then started it again and put it into reverse, reverse now worked. after that i had my friend look under the hood at the transmission fluid and it was practically empty again. so i went to the store got more transmission fluid and put some in and tried to drive back home. everything seemed fine for about another 8 miles then it started to hard down shift all over again. after another 3 miles the car completely freaked out check engine light finally came on along with the abs, tsc, and the light showing i was in drive started flashing. so i pulled over and put the car in park and everything was still doing the same thing, including the light indicating i was in drive even thought i was in park and the park gear light was on. so i turned off my car, sat for a min then restarted. driving slow needed to stop and brakes started to go out. *tr | |||

| I have a 2003 honda accord ex-v6: y husband has experienced the following safety problem on three occasions. he drives the vehicle more than i do. several mornings while backing out of our driveway the car's brake pressure did not employ the brakes in the normal safe fashion. when he was about half way down the driveway he applied the brakes, the pedal was hard and noncompliant (the car did not stop or slow down) until he applied the brake pedal very hard. while at the beginning of the driveway right before exiting onto the sidewalk the brakes began working as normal. this situation happened even though the car was warmed up for a couple of minutes he tapped the brakes upon rolling backward a couple of feet or so to make sure they were working properly. this is a very dangerous situation that needs to be addressed immediately. this safety problem is intermittent. i left my car overnight with a local dealer to have a mechanic go through the brake system based upon this safety issue. i was told by the mechanic and the service consultant my brakes are fine nothing unusual was detected, my car is perfect. based upon the seriousness of this issue and the lack of resolve from the dealership i am filing this complaint. i have another problem with my car which i have reported to the dealer and received service for on several occassions. this problem is not safety related but may have some connection to the brakes not engaging on several occassions. when taking off from a cold start and traveling between 7-10 mph, the car makes a thump noise which originates from the driver's side. not only can you hear the noise but you can feel it through the acceleration pedal. i was told by one dealership the problem is brake related and there is no fix. the other dealership said the problem was related to a piece of scrap metal lodged in the subframe. they removed the piece of metal and assured me the noise would go away. the thump did not go away. *ak | |||

| I own a 2003 honda accord lx model. i have started to have some brake problem with my car from 7,000 miles. at that time my dealer told me that my brake rotors need to be realigned, and which they did. then again at 15,000 miles i noticed that when i apply brakes at 60mph my car vibrates and on wet roads it slips/skids. this also happens on curves at speed of 30 mph in wet conditions. rosenthal honda at tysons corner in virginia has been working on this since started happening at 15,000 miles. they told me that they need to resurface my rotors and replace my pads and that the problem will be gone. i ask them to proceed with it and now the problem came up again at 18,000 miles. rosenthal again resurface the rotars and told me the problem has been fixed. today at 20,000 miles the same problem comes up. rosenthal & honda are telling me that there is no problem but i know that my brakes are not working right and not the way hoinda has designed it to work. i do not know what to do and where to go. i really have great confidence in you and expect that you help me out of this issue.*ak | |||

| Vehicle drifts to the right. dangerous on interstates when traveling @ 70mph. must constantly hold vehicle in lane. also problems with brakes grabbing when stopping. dealer adjusted subframe and replaced brakes. vehicle is still extremely sensitive to road crowning. dealer said the drift is better but not perfect. i'm still concerned with safety of vehicle. | |||

| This 2003 honda accord has caused me a lot of problems since the beginning i bought it. just after 2 weeks with around 500 miles all this rattling noises started coming from the doors and windows. i took it to the dealer, they fixed it, but the problem was back less than a week after. today i have 14000 miles on my car and i have been to the dealer more then 20 times for this problem. they have replaced the run channels and other parts without any success. also the interior is falling a part; the middle compartment is not working. the cd compartment gets stuck all the time. the engine is making a lot of noise, feels like its actually sitting in the passenger side next to me. i know this is not the quality honda has, my wife has a 1996 accord and it doesnt make as much noises as mine, and it also runs better. honda needs to take quality seriously. and help me out with this lemon car.*ak | |||

| My 2003 accord makes a clunking noise when accelerating from a cold start, accelerating from a stoplight, accelerating after turning a corner, and accelerating, and on the freeway when passing another vehicle. after several repair attempts, my local service department diagnosed this as being caused by the abs system and that i should consider it a normal characteristic of the automobile until a fix is found by honda. most recently, the abs, the tcs, and the brake light came on. service department stated that it was a false code and that there was no problem with the abs system. | |||

| My daughter was driving her 2003 honda accord under sunny skies and good road conditions. as she slowed and made a slight right hand turn to enter an exit ramp off of i-26 outside of charleston sc, the brakes locked up pulling her towards the concrete barrier on her right hand side. she instictively pulled the car back to the left. at this time the brakes released and she went into the left concrete barrier. both her and a friend who was riding with her were not seriously hurt. the car sustained approximately $4,900 in damages. she estimated that she was going 40 mph at the time when the brakes locked up. the brakes have not been looked at in detail yet. after repairs we will have them inspected. looking into the history of the 2003 accord showed me that this model has a long history of brake problems with many people complaining. when i discussed this with my local dealer, hendrick honda, they informed me that they thought there was not a history of bad brakes on this car. i feel otherwise. because the car was in the way of traffic and could still be driven, my daughters friend drove it out of the way and no police report was filed. one last thing. these brakes have locked up on me a idle speeds and had been checked previously by hendrick honda. when checked, they said they were serviceable. | |||

| The brake pads and rotors on my 2003 honda accord ex-v6 have been continuously problematic. at approximately 500 miles, the brakes exhibited an unusual grinding noise and the car took longer than usual to stop. a few months after that, the brakes began vibrating when used at higher speeds. the pads were replaced and the rotors turned. at 7,500 miles, the problem returned and the pads and rotors were replaced. at 12,000 miles, the vibration is back. i don't feel safe with this braking system and i believe it to be defective. | |||

| My 2003 accord had warped rotors after only 6 months. then at 15k my brakes started squealing and grinding. i took it to dealer and they said my front pads were almost gone. blamed my driving style and city traffic. i've owned an accord and acura integra prior to this car and they both were on original pads at 45kmiles. i think honda screwed up somewhere with this new model. | |||

| During driving in freeway speeds experience shaking steering wheel and took it to the dealer. they told me it was a balence, that did not correct the problem. i came back the following week later, told them to check my brakes because i thought that was the problem it turns out that they were warped. the dealer replaced the pads and turned the rotors but told that it was a one time only under warranty, and that it happend because of my driving and my constant braking, that made me upset because they questioned how i drive. this has never happend to me under just a year of use i strongly disagree. *ak | |||

| I am the first owner of 2003 accord, ex. my car has 113,000 miles on it. its a well maintained car i kept for years. i must say that this car is excellent, however, there are signs that some parts are not functioning really well lately. for the past few months, i noticed my tcs sign on the dashboard comes on and off together with the triangle sign in orange. it started coming on after i turned off the ignition to my first destination and after just like 10-15 minutes and start my engine again, it will come on after driving for next 5-10 minutes. also, just two weeks ago i noticed that the gear gets stuck on park mode and i have to press the handle before it gets released. i am not sure if the gear has something to do with the tcs and triangle showing on the dashboard. also, i noticed my car has an issue with brakes when driving while raining. i have to step on the brakes a few times when its slippery to be able to come to a full stop. it's so scary that i almost hit the car in front of me a few times. i am lodging my complain so the manufacturer would take a look on this issue as i found all the complaints on tcs issue on 2003 honda accord ex online when i was trying to look for a solution on the same issue for my car. *tr | |||

| Since july 2011 , my 2003 honda accord lx v6 experienced sluggish in the transmission. sometime, suddenly, my car felt like someone slammed on the brakes causing me to jerking forward.it happened a few more times, then in september 2011, i brought the car in the dealer for the transmission service. i told the dealer service advisor about the symptom, after the dealer flushed the transmission fluid, then told me that the car sometime sluggish, replaced the fluid will fixed this.the problem got worse, more noise, jerking when the car automatically shifting, in november , the traction control system engaged,and the engine check light were illuminated.the car was slow to move. brought the car to the dealer again on 11/14/2011, the dealer told me that the car needs linear shift solenoid and brake light switch, parts had to be ordered, and the car can be drive !!! i drove the car home, it was so bad that i had to let the car sit waiting for parts. on 11/29/2011, the dealer replaced the linear shift solenoid and the brake light switch, then told me that the problem was fixed. got the car home, the next day , i only drove about 5 miles, the noise and all the symptoms came back. i had to brought the car back to the dealer again. this time, they consulted with the honda company technical service. after several days, the dealer told me that honda technical service determine that the power train (transmission) is causing the problem; i need a transmission replacement, and it cost $3900.00. called honda customer service to register a complain about honda service. this definitely need a recall. | |||

| My 2003 honda accord has had a shudder when braking practically since i've owned the car-bought new in feb. 2002.. my mechanic told me the brakes would still work and i could drive the car as long as i was aware of the problem. i thought the honda dealership in omaha had damaged the brakes while fixing the abs system due to a recall. i now see it was probably a design flaw--since so many other owners of this model have experienced the same thing. now the brakes need replacement, and i will ask for non-honda parts. i previously owned a 1999 honda accord, and it was wonderful. this 2003 is not--in addition to the brake problem, the paint scratches easily and the interior is of very cheap materials, the ac smells bad when turned on, and the car has had electrical problems--many occuring after it was no longer under warrenty. i will not buy another honda vehicle. | |||

| 2003 honda accord ex 4 door sedan .i have had a soft,touchy brzke pedal since the car reached 55,000 miles.before that it was perfect,rock solid.i took it to the honda dealership and the service advisor told me that they couldn't find anything wrong but they would replace the brake master cyclinder and the abs electronic modulator under my warranty.after few days the problem did not improve.the brake pedal went 1/2 way down easily and then the disc brakes just locked up all of a sudden.the driver had no real control over the braking actiion.i returned to the dealer and they called honda repair and tsalked to a tech.he said that a soft,touchy pedal was normal on these cars.i told them that up to 55.000 miles the brakes were perfect.what had happened? they did not know.so i had them replace all my pads and turned all rotors.i then had them bleed the brakes.the stopping power did increase but the soft,toucy brake pedal remained.after going back to the dealer the 3rd time to complain,they finally just told me that they could not find anything wrong with my brakes and therefore could not help me.so i went to another dealer and had them rebleed my brakes just to be sure that there was no air in the system.after they did that my brake pedal firmed up a little bit.but adter 2-3 days the soft,touchy pedal returned.no one at honda could give me any explanation.now i am reading about defects allowing air into the beaking system from the abs modulator and i am thinking now that it is the problem.it would explain why my brake pedal was fiine for about 5 years and then all of a sudden the brake pedal problem appeared.i aldo drove a new 2010 accord ex 4 door to compare the brakes.the new honda had a very firm,solid brake pedal.so i went back to the service department and told them that i wanted them to fix my brakes so that they felt like the 2010 accord's brakes.i was told by the service advisor that everything was fine and that it was my imagination. | |||

| I was driving 70 mph on the freeway, and i stepped on my brakes gently to slow down hill. the car started to shake. when i brought it to the dealer's attention during my service, i was told that it was my rotors warped and brake pads rubbing on each other. i research this online through www.mycarstats.com, www.edmunds.com, www.hondaaccordforum.com, and this was a common problem. the dealer told me that everytime i changed my brakes every 20k miles, i would need the rotors resurfaced. this is a cost of $200 at the dealership. it is expensive and unreasonable to expect all accord owners to do this. i called another honda dealership service in the area, and was told that they see this come in every 3 days. *nm | |||

| Late april 2005, brake pedal went almost to the floor while trying to stop. thought was going to strike vehicle ahead but at the last second the brakes seemd to catch and vehicle was able to stop. at that time tcm light came on. no one injured. dealer could find no problem with tcm system and replaced front disc brakes and turned rotors. vehicle had 27,700 miles at that time. second and third occurrences were in mid november 2005. same thing with pedal going almost to floor with brakes not engaging and at last minute they engaged with vehicle able to stop. tcm light did not come on this time. dealer could not find any problem with brake system, nor could he repeat problem in the 8 hours he had the vehicle. no repairs made. dealer said he has not heard of this problem but has several tsb's on brake rotors and brakes. vehicle had 34559 miles at this time. *nm | |||

| Complaint received via e-mail. i purchased a brand new car, and since then i have been back to the dealership numerous amounts of times for many problems. first problem was my brakes needed to be replaced at 4600 miles, but weren't replaced until 7700 miles 3.5 months later due to back order. currently, with 17,900 miles the brakes were grinding again. this is my 3rd honda, and the worse one, yet likely my last. the second problem was that my right rear door was locked for 3 months. the dealer claimed that the problem was due to getting my windows tinted, but they attempted to fix three times, and was told the third time the problem only occurs if the temperature goes below 32 degrees. since then the temperature has been over 32 degrees. i also have problems with sulfur odor coming from the exhaust, and was told that this was normal problem ,would go away with time. but as time goes by the odor gets worse, and smells like rotten eggs. another problem with the car is the alignment has been off since i bought the car. i have had my own mechanic look at the car, and he believes the car won't align correctly because of the axles. the final problem with my piece of crap honda is the driver seat isn't secure, it slides very little back and forth and side to side.*ak | |||

| The front brakes on my wife's 2003 accord lx are the problem. we bought the car new in nov. 2002. no problems for the first year, then in nov. 2003 we noticed a growling or grinding sound with vibration emanating from the front brakes when stopping the first few times after a cold start. under these conditions, the car did not seem to stop as smartly as it should. took it to the dealer at 24000 miles, who diagnosed the problem as cracked front pads. pads were replaced as a courtesy, though they are not covered under warranty, and the rotors were resurfaced. last week, the problem reappeared in a panic stop situation in stop-and go traffic, 3 blocks after a cold start. the car now has 33k miles. same grinding sound, same vibration, and not enough braking power to stop the car from 20 mph in a safe distance. we collided with a range rover at very low speed, not enough to deploy the air bag or damage the other vehicle. now i am looking at several thousand dollars in body repairs. when i get the body fixed, i can take the car back to the dealer for another diagnosis on the brakes. even with new pads and/or rotors, i am not confident that this will be a safe-stopping car. *la | |||

| Since purchasing my brand new 2003 honda accord in june 2003, there has been a severe grinding and vibration coming from the brakes. i have gone back and forth to the dealer (herb chambers, burlington, ma) 4 times for the problem. first they ground the rotors (the car was only 2 months old). the problem still occured and i brought it back a week later and the supposedly replaced the rotors and pads but they refused to let me see the old parts when i requested them. problem has been getting worse and we brought it back again twice in february and the dealer insists there is nothing wrong with the brakes. they only drove it 1 -2 miles each time. the problem is intermittent and the car must be driven all the time as my family does. i already had a minor accident when the brakes did not stop at all at only 5 mph. i wrote honda applying the massachusetts lemon law and they ignored it. i received nothing in writing of their findings. i went to an independent brake specialist who looked at the brakes and said he didn't think they were replaced - only turned. i then went to another honda dealer who says that honda is well aware of the brake problem (severe grinding and vibration) and are doing nothing about it. a customer service rep named mark keeps calling us but for a week, every time we call him back, we get his voice mail and he never calls us. the problem still exists. the car is a lemon and the nhtsa website shows many others experiencing the same problem. honda won't do anything unless someone gets killed. they need to acknowledge the problem. i have complained to the bbb in massachusetts as well as the attorney general's office. i have also placed calls to the three local media stations and my attorney. *ak | |||

| My daughter and i were driving along a busy street when i attempted to slow down because the traffic ahead started slowing down for a red light and my car didn't respond to my braking. i was driving behind a bus and my car kept accelerating towards the bus. i threw the car in park - stripping the gears - and the car kept going. by some large miracle, there was a gap in the traffic coming in the opposite direction, so i turned into those lanes and traveled for a few feet before i came upon a one way street - not in my favor - it's another miracle no one was coming up that street, so i turned into the one way hoping to find some way to stop the car. the twists and turns took away some of the momentum and when i had gone about 1/3 of the way down the one way street, i yanked up the emergency brake and the car finally stopped. the car was towed into the dealership on tuesday, may 6, 2003 and they called me on wednesday, may 7th, to say that they ran all sorts of checks and found nothing wrong with the brakes. the fact that the brakes are now working does not mean that the brakes are good. my daughter and i can testify to that fact because we were the ones who faced that near death situation and i refuse to take a chance with our lives. there is a defect in the brakes and i would hate to start seeing reports of fatalities caused by this because they simply did not do extensive enough tests to find and fix the problem. the dealer is basically saying that since they can't find a problem, i have no choice but the take the car back. i absolutely cannot drive that car the way it is because i constantly visualize the outcome had i been traveling on a highway going 50 or 60 miles an hour. as it is, we are very lucky and thankful that everything worked in our favor and we did not crash. i don't want to become a statistic at which time they will break their necks to find and fix the problem....too late. *nlm | |||

| Over the course of 3 years, with less than 27,000 miles, we have complained about the brakes on this car too many times to remember. we first noticed a squeaking sound at 4,000 miles when releasing the brake pedal with the car at a complete stop. we took the car to the dealer to have the brakes checked. they said the brakes were cold and the noise was normal. this noise continued and a second noise, much louder and resembling a sticking caliper began to occur when turning and applying the brakes. the dealer again did not find a problem. this was at 11,000 miles. later, another mechanic said there was a hot spot on the rotor from braking too hard and this was causing the noise, though no remedy has been found. the brakes have always felt soft and the noises continue, though i do not believe the dealer ever checked the rotors or did a proper inspection. now at 26,400 miles the pedal feels like a sponge and i am going to have to pay someone else to check the brakes again. sometimes the brakes grab very hard, sometimes they seem not to grab at all. honda needs to recall the cars or provide free brake inspections to insure the car will stop as expected. this is an accident waiting to happen and others have also complained of the same problems. the brakes have not completely failed, but we have had to assume they will not stop the car as they were advertised, in a reasonable distance relative to speed. no parts have been replaced or corrective measure completed despite several requests to the dealer (most while the car was supposed to be under warranty). *nm | |||

| I've had a major problem with the brakes on my 2003 honda accord lx, starting at about 6,000 miles. the problem is front calipers, rotors, and pads with a complaint of brake judder. the car does not and never has with the exception of the first few thousand miles brake normally. this noise and irregular breaking happens in normal driving and there is an unstable feel to the brakes when braking firmly in an emergency. i brought it back to the huntington honda dealer 3x with that specific problem and was told they saw nothing wrong and on only one occasion made an adjustment and at the same time telling me they saw nothing wrong. now i see now that a tsb has been issued for these brake problems. consequently, now that my car is off of the warranty and i'm reading about thousands of other accord '03 owners with this same exact problem. there should definitely be a recall on this problem. this is a potential safety risk to the owners of these honda accords and other drivers on the road if an accident occurred because of these faulty brakes. now that my car is off warranty i feel as if i have little recourse even though i brought this problem to their attention three times when the car was covered. something more should be done about this issue with the honda company before injuries or death result because of these faulty brakes. i also want to add that i am very disappointed in honda. previous to this accord i owned a civic and i never had a problem like this. i owned the car for 10 years and put 175, 000 miles on it. i most likely will never buy a honda again and never recommend one to anyone else. thank you. *jb | |||

| Within a few months of ownership after buying this car new my wife began complaining that the car pulsed under braking. after about 2 years and ~ 25k miles the pulsing/vibration got much, much worse so i took the vehicle to the dealer while car was still under warranty. the dealer told me i needed to have rotors turned and new pads installed, and that it would cost me almost $200. the dealer did not tell me honda issued a service tsb (tsb# 03-069) regarding this problem and that the service should be done under warranty per honda. i never received any notice of a tsb from honda telling me they were having issues with brakes on this vehicle. as i was unaware of the brake problems specific to this vehicle i did not have the service performed at that time because i thought the dealer was lying to me as i have never had a car that had brake rotor problems at on only a few thousand miles. not telling me of the problem was negligent of the dealer and manufacturer, someone could have been hurt or killed if the brakes failed. to try and solve the problem i first took the car to a tire shop and had the wheels rebalanced which cost me $50, that did not solve the problem so i spent another $90 on new brake pads which i did myself, which also did not help...anyway now at 47k miles the vibration that occurs when needing to stop from highway speed is so severe the whole car shakes, it is unsafe to drive. i researched the problem on internet forums and this is how i found out about the tsb, but my car is now far out of warranty, so i now must have it fixed myself, and it will probably start to happen again. this is a safety issue and should have been recalled, and replaced with updated and safe parts. i have never had any brake rotor problems on any car i ever owned before this car. honda's solution (even if done free under warranty) of turning rotors is a temporary fix at best and is unacceptable as the problem would have recurred later. *jb | |||

| Recurring brake rotor warped problem on 2003 honda accord ex sedan.. problem first noted around 18k miles.. dealer resurfaced brakes at 30k miles, after complaint was issued.. about 1500 miles later problem recurred.. symptom appears to come from front brakes, at the end of braking a metallic shudder occurs for the last 2 seconds.. intermittently upon freeway exiting the problem seems to last much longer, shudder causes the driver to question if the brakes will work or not.. this is the 6th honda i have owned in the past 14 years, and the first one to exhibit such behavior.. i have read other complaints, posts on the internet whereas many drivers are having the same complaint on this newly redesigned model accord. some posts have made the suggestion that the caliper is the actual defective part of the braking system, all i know, is the warping rotor is causing a very serious and dangerous driving situation. *nm | |||

| Brakes on 2003 honda accord making really bad clunking and screeching noises. honda issued a tsb-03-069. but, dealer says my car is normal. i've never had a car which made so much braking noises. i've also heard that many other accord owners are having the same problem. this should be a safety issue, because the brakes feel as though they're going to fail everytime they start making noises. new cars braking systems shouldn't clunk and screech like this. makes me scared to press down on the brakes hard. *jb | |||

| Bought brand new 2003 honda accord ex-v6 in 9/03. by 12/03 at 4700 miles, the front brakes were not working. per tsb 03-069 honda replaced the front brake pads with new part number 45022-sdb-a10. two months later, 2/04, the car had brake problems again at 7400 miles. this time honda resurfaced the rotors and said the pads were fine. how can pads be fine if they are harming the rotors? the car is still unsafe when braking from highway speeds. honda says that it is my fault! i have been driving since 1989, never gone through brakes in under 30k miles. it is now 6/04, car has 11,500 miles, and the brakes still don't work right! honda needs to replace pads and rotors with redesigned safe parts, asap!*ak | |||

| Purchased car new in nov 2002 from college park honda in maryland. took car to honda of bowie for second oil change and tire rotation at 6349 miles on may 10,2003. returned car to honda of bowie 7 days later for vibration in steering wheel while driving above 40 mi per hour. dealership balanced front tires at no charge. returned car to honda of bowie on june28, 2003 with 8287 miles for steering wheel vibration when braking. i was told the front rotors were slightly warped and dealer resurfaced rotors free of charge. problem reoccurred at around 15,000 miles but did not get car in for service until mileage was 18,003 on april 9, 2004. took it to college park honda where i purchased and explained the problem. before looking at car service rep told me it was probably due to my driving habits (lots of stop and go). i have had the same commute for over 10 years and never had this kind of problem before. i said i'd be very unhappy if i had to replace the brakes at 18,000 miles. service rep said it was very common to replace brakes and rotors at 18,000 miles. i reiterated my unhappiness if i was going to have to pay for the repair. i believed it should be covered under warranty. after inspecting the brakes i was told the front rotors were glazed and the pad were cracked. they resurfaced the rotors (that's twice in 10,000 miles) and replaced the pads under warranty as a one time courtesy. the problem came back within 7 days of the repair. i have an appointment to take my car back today ( 4 weeks to the day since they worked on it). i believe the rotors are defective or have been resurfaced too much and need to be replaced. i am expecting that they will try to tell me this is somehow my fault and expect me to pay for the repair. i believe from reading all the other complaints which are so similar to mine, that the 2003 honda accords have a brake problem that the company does not want to address.*ak | |||

| Defective rotors on 2003 honda accord v6 sedan. immediately after buying the car, the front brakes vibrated. i thought it might go away. dealer inspected and cut the rotors. defect was not corrected and got very bad such that whole car now vibrates. dealer failed to recognize and replace defective honda rotors, which he should have done when car was taken to him for this service. i have now had to try to find a private mechanic who will get suitable rotors and repair the brake system. all rotor manufacturers have stated that the failed rotors cannot be fixed by cutting them. they must be replaced or the defect will occur over and over with time. honda and the dealership have refused to replace them and did not replace them when first reported. *jb | |||

| The braking system on some 2003 honda accords are defective. i brought a demo honda accord ex in feb '03 with around 4500 miles at purchase and has over 40000 now. 05/02/03 12,849 miles. i took my car back to the dealership (leith honda in raleigh) complaining of vibrations in the steering wheel when braking. i was told it it was caused by high speed braking and to change my driving habits. since it was a demo vehicle, the dealership resurfaced the rotors free of charge. 6/17 17,775 miles. i took the car back to the dealership with the same complaint.again, the technican said it was caused by high speed braking. the service advisor went on to tell me that this would be the last time it would be fixed free of charge. my rotors were resurfaced again. by late september, the car began having strong vibrations when braking. the condition had gotten progressively worse but i knew i didnt have the money to pay for the car itself and this brake problem. i called the honda dealership back and requested to speak with the service manager. it was at this time that i found out honda (tech line) was aware of the problem and that it would be fixed free of charge until a solution was in place. 10/08 30,550 miles. had my rotors replaced (boyd honda in oxford) 12/01 35,995 miles. took my car in for service for another matter but informed the service advisor, the vibrations were back. i learned a bullentin was posted for the '03 brake pads and they were replaced (boyd honda). 01/09/04 39,226 miles. returned to the dealership with signs of the problem present when braking after having the new pads put on. *ak | |||

| On june 23, 2003, i took this vehicle to the honda dealership in clovis, california. it had a problem with the vehicle shaking when i applied the brakes and a constant slight vibration in the steering wheel. this was done with the vehicle having 5,150 miles on it. the dealership resurfaced the front rotors. on july 17, 2003, i took this vehicle back to the honda dealership in clovis, california, for the same problem as before. this time i was charged for a balance and rotation which i agreed to. i left the dealership with a slight vibration in the steering wheel and was still experiencing a slight vibration while applying the brakes. this was done with the vehicle having 6, 784 miles on it. on october 17, 2003, i took this vehicle back to the honda dealership in clovis, california, for the same problem as before. this was done with the vehicle having 11,692 miles on it. the dealership resurfaced both the front and rear rotors. the vehicle now has 16,000 miles on it and it needs to go back into the repair shop once again for rotor warping. i feel there is a defect in the braking system with this new 2003 honda accord.*ak | |||

| When first braking after the car sits overnight, the brake pedal is hard and with it in reverse it backs up and cant be stopped without pumping the brakes . wife backed into car in driveway and dented the trunk lid on the honda. thought it was one time deal, but it happened 3 more times. took it to dealer and they had tsb on and fixed it. brake hose would collapse and cause failure. they put a new hose part 7185473, i called honda, they would not fix dent because it was not a recall, it was a tsb. this was a dangerous situation and i should have been notified.. their attitude was it was my fault that the brakes did not work and will not repair the trunk damage. what do i do??? *jb | |||

| I am having recurring brake problems with my 2003 accord ex. all problems relate to a soft pedal or rather having the pedal to the floor prior to the car stopping. the first instance i took the car back to the dealer where they said there was a defective master brake cylinder. this seem to correct the problem but in a couple of months the car developed the same problem. i returned it to the dealer where they said there was air in the line. this seemed to fix the problems but after 3 months i had to take car back and have now been told that they are going to replace the master brake cylinder one more time. this is the third strike in the lemon law. if the brakes go soft again then the lemon law takes effect. | |||

| I purchased my new 2003 honda accord lx coupe in apr 2003. in dec 2003, i took my car in for an oil change and was told that i needed to leave my car there because of the brakes. they replaced the master cylinder. less than 4 months later, while in rush hour traffic, the brakes failed as my foot nearly went completely to the floor. i shifted the gears down and was able to stop the car that way, no accident. i took my car back to the dealership service dept (it was a thursday). the next day they called me and said they couldn't find anything wrong. i insisted that something was wrong. when i went to pick up the car, i was told by the service repair person that the mechanic decided to probe further due to my insistance and he subsequently found air bubbles in the brake fluid. they bled my brakes. that following monday, something else went wrong. at the time i believed the problem to be the brakes, but now i am not so sure. while pulling into a parking space at my apartment, it felt as though the brakes slipped. my foot was on the brake pedal, but it did not stop; it almost seemed as though the car sped up a little, while my foot went to the floor. in a panic, i took my foot off the brake and pressed it again. i heard the tires squeal, but by that point it was too late. i ended up hitting a pole. state farm had my car evaluated to determine if there was a problem with the brakes that could have caused the accident. i took it to the same dealership shop, but only under the condition that the state farm inspector check the car with them. thirty minutes into the inspection the state farm inspector left and my car was subsequently left for approx 1-1/2 hours soley with the dealership . at the end of the 2-hour inspection, i was told no problems with my brakes. i now drive my car fearfully, hoping that nothing else will go wrong. *ak | |||
