As i was driving the transmission (automatic, v6 accord) kept slipping so although i was applying the gas the car was slowing down and not moving. so i had to turn the car off and then back on and it would move again for a little but and then the transmission would slip again and i would have to pull over and turn the car off and back on. i then had to have the car towed to a transmission shop for repairs. the transmission show replaced the transmission, so parts and labor came out to $1750.00. *tr

My 2004 honda accord had an engine fire caused by a defective high pressure power steering hose. the hose sprung a leak, spraying power steering fluid onto the engine, which caught fire. this defect is already the subject of nhtsa recall 12v-222, but inactivity and foot-dragging on honda's part has caused this otherwise avoidable safety incident. *tr

I had been driving 10 min. (70mph) on the interstate when i went to pass another motorist as soon as i turned on my blinker the car started to shutdown. after several minutes i discovered that when i applied the brakes the car would also make an sudden jerk and begin to shutdown. the car would drive completely normal as long as you did not activate either the blinkers or the brakes. i tried several other electrical accessories and none of them seemed to effect the car. after driving for several hours we exited the interstate and put the car in neutral after engaging the brake for several seconds the car died . when i took my foot off the brake it immediately restarted and the problem stopped. *tr

Today was just another day to work. i have taken this road to work for past two years with me driving. first you get off the ramp, then stop at a stop sign, then you pass under the bridge to follow the straight road to work. however, today it was different. i first took the exit ramp and went to the end of it. stopped at the stop sign. checked both sides to see if it was clear for me to proceed and go ahead with making a turn. it was clear so i made a left turn and went straight. however, within next 5 yards after going straight my car's steering wheel started to shake and car pulled to the left. i could not control the car since all this happened so fast and my car hit the huge cement pole which is the base of the bridge. after talking with my husband and many others, they believe that car has somehow malfunctioned. the two theories we have is either steering wheel getting locked or left wheel giving out in some manner. this was not a new road for me. i was not a phone. i was not texting. i was not distracted in anyway. the car just had its own mind today and somehow it pulled to the left. i do not know if there are others who have had this problem, but i wanted to tell my story since i am not hurt as much. if this happened while being faster, this could have been fatal. *tr

As i am driving my vehicle gets stuck at 20 mph and the rpms go high (above 3,000-4,000). then the rpms eventually go back down and the vehicle speeds up. i have 2 boys, a 2 year old and a 5 year old along with my wife. i am fearful for their safety. i researched that there was a recall in regards to the transmission over heating at 2nd gear from lack of lubrication but i never received a recall, or at least my dealership did not receive a recall notice. i am not in the best financial situation to have a transmission serviced, but i have kept up with all of the vehicle maintenance including the timing belt, water pump seals belts etc which were replaced not too long ago. i was hoping that the nhtsa could assist me with this urgent matter. *tr

I did the routine maintenance on my honda accord. i have followed all of the specifications regarding oil changes, maintenance on the transmission, timing belt replacement, etc. unfortunately, even with the routine maintenance performed on this car, my transmission failed on a road trip on july 7, 2012. i was driving on the interstate going 75 miles per hour when my honda accord would not accelerate anymore. thankfully, i was able to safely pull across three lanes of traffic in order to get to the shoulder. unfortunately, that is when i discovered that my transmission failed and i had to take it to the nearest garage. *tr

I had a 2004 honda accord with approx. 65,000 mile on the car. one day while driving on the freeway, one of the spark plug blew out of the cylinder head and caused a engine failure and vehicle to stall on the freeway. the honda owner manual recommended the 1st spark plug change at 100,000 miles. when tow the car to the repair shop, the shop discover that the one of the spark plug was not properly torqued at the factor and cause the spark plug thread in fatigue and below the plug out of cylinder head. the thread was strip and made damaged to the engine. total repair $3000. i google the subject honda spark plug blew out and found a lot of people with similar problem. many honda and acura honda with engine that made between 2004 and 2006 had suffer the same problem. here are the list of the link http://www.odyclub.com/forums/52-2005-2010-odyssey/134863-spark-plug-exploded.html http://community.cartalk.com/discussion/2280195/2005-v6-honda-accord-exploded-spark-plug http://www.piloteers.org/forums/14-problems/27614-anyone-ever-hear-spark-plugs-backing-out.html http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=668825 http://www.justanswer.com/acura/40qde-2006-acura-tl-blew-number-spark-plug-cylinder.html http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775465

On november 2, 2011 i took my 2004 honda accord into a automotive repair shop for a noise that my car was making. while in there the tech looked up my vin# and said there was a recall on vin#'s 1hgcm66594a000001 thru 1hgcm66594a030387. my vin # is 1hgcm66594a029019 clearly falls within this range. he obtained this information thru repair.alldata.com. i then took the paper to the local honda dealership and they said my vehicle has no recalls. how can this be??? i assume the site the tech used is a good one and wouldn't provide false information but the honda dealership is saying otherwise. while at the shop the tech did drive the car and noticed it was whining and it shouldn't be. he is a former employee that worked for honda for a number of years and i believe what he is telling me.

I have a 2004 honda accord that had a transmission failure with no warning. it had 88,000miles on it and very well maintained. i was driving on the highway about 2 hours away from home when the car started slowing down or downshifting on its own. i felt like i was just coasting or in neutral. i pulled over to the side of the road and waited a couple minutes and tried to start my car up again...it did. i started driving againg and not even 3/4 of a mile later the same thing happened. i did this pull over/ turn off/ turn on thing all the way home with my daughter in the car ( 2 hrs away was too costly for a tow). what should have taken 2 hours took close to 4hrs 20 mins. i called my local honda dealer and they said that they needed to look at it to diagnose the problem which would have cost me $120.00 to tell me what i already knew...my transmission was shot. i took it instead to an idependent garage $45.00 and they said it was an internal transmission failure. i called honda back and they said there is no recall and it would cost 3800.00 to get a rebuild transmission. corporate said my vin did not have a recall and i would have to pay. when all was said and done i paid $4213.00 for a rebuilt transmission with 36,000mile or 3 year warranty. i am getting rid of this car before warranty runs out and not buying another honda ever.

While driving my 2004 honda accord (3 months old/4,000 mi) the engine cut off. the radio still played. the car lost power steering. i pulled over to the side of the road. the car started again. the dealer could not reproduce the problem, stated that it only happened once and i must continue to drive the car as is. honda america concurred as did a representative of the owner of the dealership. i do not feel safe driving this car and do not want to risk my life, or the lives of others, with a car that may suddenly shut off while i am driving.*ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 honda accord. while performing a routine oil change, the mechanic spotted dried up antifreeze in the corner of the engine, where no fluid should be located. he advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. the dealer stated that there was a pinhole crack in the engine that was allowing antifreeze to slip out. it has not yet been determined what the repair will be, but the manufacturer is already refusing to repair the vehicle. the contact believes that a recall should be issued. the current and failure mileages were 32,000.

My husband and i purchased a 2004 honda accord. before bringing the car back to autofair honda in manchester, new hampshire; we reported numerous times of a burning smell coming from the car. the smell was so bad that we called our city's fire department. the firefighters could see and smell the smoke coming from the engine. we made the owner of the dealership aware of the problems with the car and never once did the dealership put the car up on the lift or do a computer test to find the cause of the problem. however, with knowledge of the problem they resold the car to another party without fixing the problem. *tr
