This is a factory clearcoat failure. 2004 honda accord exl, red. within two years, the clearcoat had started to peel. in the third year, i contacted the honda main offices with my complaint. after having two insurance adjusters, a body shop, and an auto paint salesman look at the car and in every case, their opinion is that this failure is a factory defect. honda repeatedly refuses to take that responsibility. the peeling clearcoat is spreading like a disease eating away at it. *tr

2004 honda accord exl with red paint. clear coat began to peel in places all over the car. i contacted honda and after several letters and phone calls back and forth, they are not willing to accept responsibility for a factory failure. have had insurance adjusters, body shop, and an auto paint salesman examine the paint and all say this is something gone wrong at the factory. honda keeps wanting to say i parked somewhere that something blew on the car all over such as crop dusters. the nearest crop duster is 150 miles away and the area where i live is lakes and mountains. *tr

Nhtsa# 10016310... 2004 honda accord 2.4l coupe. a water leak in the middle-front dash board. the leak had run into the ecu of my car and caused my car to lock the transmission. i was lucky to not be traveling at a high rate of speed and in a populated area. anything could have happened with the ecu shorting in water. my car is currently in the honda shop being trouble shot for the extent of electrical damage. car will not start. *tr

On january 2, 2004 we purchased a honda accord ex. the car is red in color. total cost was $25,998.50. we have enjoyed this car since we purchased it and about 6 months ago we made the decision to replace the timing belt. that was on april 8, 2011 as the mileage neared 100,000. since that time (probably in may 2011) we started to notice some peeling on the front above the windshield and also some around the rear window. it has gotten worse with each passing day. had we known this was going to happen we would not have replaced the timing belt. we now have a honda in great mechanical condition that looks awful. it seems that honda when contacted blames the environment for these problems even though we don't see the cars made by other manufacturers having complaints about a paint peeling issue. honda has changed its paint process to save money and now the consumer is going to suffer the cost of repair or a car that looks like a junker. we are very upset that this was not a recall by honda. there are so many honda owners with this problem and they have documented these problems online.

I have a 2004 ex v-6 accord coupe. i have had the vehicle in the shop numerous times. i had the car for 1 week it had 175 miles on it and the check engine light came on. all six pistons were misfiring. i have had the car in 3 times now for excessive noise on the drivers side window. the dealership fixed it once and told me that some noise is normal.. (my 76 honda civic doesn't even make as much noise as this car does) the check engine light comes on and blinks and goes off has done this numerous times. dealership resets it and says that it is ok. i have also had the car in 2 times because it won't start. dealership says to turn key to first click to let the fuel injection lines fill with fuel. it doesn't work. i am taking it back to the dealership once again tomorrow because the trunk doesn't latch correctly.. what a dissappointment this car has been and its not even a year old.. i will never buy another honda again. the quality has gone severely down hill.*ak
