I noticed my vehicle was leaking fluid on the garage floor. later my steering started to get rigid and make noises. while i was driving i started to smell something burning. i took the vehicle into the closet shop and i was told that my high pressure power steering hose was leaking oil on the exhaust system and was dangerous to be driving because of a fire. after, i fixed my vehicle i noticed that there was a recall for the same issue on the 2003-07, v6 honda accords. according to the honda service bulletin the recall was the same hose by just a part number apart. because my honda accord in a 4 cylinder it was not shown as being eligible to be fixed by honda. i am very disappointed in honda!!

My 2006 honda accord ex v6 was taken on a trip. the first day of the trip, dark smoked poured into the vehicle through the interior vents and also came out from under the hood. a very large amount of dark smoke was involved and also had a distinct smell of burning. it appeared as though the car was going to catch on fire. we immediately pulled off of the road, jumped out of the car, and called a tow truck to take the vehicle to a nearby honda dealership. the service manager called to say the high pressure hose had a hole in it which caused fluid to leak onto the catalytic converter. he said the pump seals were leaking and the power steering pump needed to be replaced. we were without a car for two and a half days while on vacation. later found out appletree honda in fletcher nc charged $314 for a used pump, though never telling us it was used. the hose cost $136.43, along with other belts, etc... we left with a $914.00 bill. *tr

I was in park proceeded to put my car in reverse instead of backing up, the car kept moving in a semi - circle, the vehicle was out of control. thus, i attempted to bring the car to a halt by stepping on the brakes, however, the brake pedal ceased to work and did not stop the car from being in motion. in closing, the car lost control went about 100ft. or more till it finally came to a stop at the end of the parking lot. lastly, the car is at coast honda, however, i was informed there was not anything they could do to repair the car. my concern is if this happens again what if anything can i do to prevent this? as such, this time i was fortunate because, i was in a parking lot and not on a road, where i could have had an accident, or worse.
