I purchased a new 2008 honda accord from what is now known as bel air honda. i had less than 50,000 miles when i had two sets of rear brake pads replaced. the 2nd set was replaced with a 3rd. at approx. 37,000 miles and the replacement was at my expense. the 1st 2 times i was reimbursed for the install, but the 3rd time the dealer and honda said sorry this ones on you. i feel this expenditure should not have been mine to pay. in less thgan 50,000miles i had 2 power steering pumps replaced. the 4th time the steering box also was damaged and it too replaced. this last time i was told this again was my expense so again their problem became mine. this time the dealer, bel air honda said lucky i bought the extended warranty or the cost to me would have been approximately $1,600.00. my worry is i am concerned that i could have a steering or brake failure while on the interstate causing an injury to me or someone else. i have voiced my cocerns to both american honda and bel air honda. they blame one another regarding the mechanical failures to my car. the dealer said honda sent them defective parts and honda said its a install problem. i have sent and spoke to many representatives of honda motors and there response to me amounted to them suggesting things will be getting better and hang in there. so i have a car that i feel unsafe driving that no one seems to be concerned with. their philosophy seems to be, get it repaired and maybe you'll have better luck next tyime. my honda is true and its been a total sad experience fof me. their the goliath and i'm david with no recourse to the total diregard to my on problem. honda probably has a good track record, but if you are having a serious problem with their car like i have, you get no satisfactory help from the automobile giant. there is a lot more to this sorry situation, but i am or will go over the limit i am allowed in this complaint memo. your help in getting my story told will be appreciated.

My honda accord 08 steering wheel vibrates and shakes as when i press on the brake traveling 60+ miles on the freeway. honda dealer told me that i should replace the brakes and i did but still has the same problem. i feel unsafe driving my car on the freeway. and replacing brakes when my car has only 20,000 miles does not make any sense to me. my steering wheel started to shake when the car had less than 10,000 miles on it. what should i do?? *tr

Vibration/shimmy in the steering wheel. took vehicle to purchasing dealer twice. dealer could not fix shimmy. dealer said that's the way honda is making them. shimmy starts ~ 60 mph and continues through 75 mph. shimmy is intermittent and varying in intensity depending on vehicle speed and load. took to 2nd dealer and verified problem. 2nd dealer also verified other 2008 accords having the same problem. *tr

I took delivery of 2008 honda accord coupe (4 cylinder automatic) in august of 2008. from day one i experience a steering wheel and suspension/drivetrain vibration & shimmy at speeds between 45-65 mph. the dealer replaced tires and wheels, and balanced four wheels during first service visit. on the second and last offered service visit for this defect, the dealer determined that the vehicle was operating as designed. they did not state that they could not verify the complaint and stated they would not make anymore attempts to diagnose or repair the problem. *tr

2008 accord coupe purchased 3 months ago, 4800 miles; whining sound that worsened over a week. power steering fluid level checked well below the lowest acceptable level. no signs of leakage under car. honda replaced the rack and pinion steering in warranty. not what i expected of my first honda. *tr

 1) headlight projection very poor. difficult to see100 feet ahead. this is exacerbated by a draw on the electrical system that makes the headlights dim while car is in motion. i will not drive the car at night or at night while it is raining. i feel that the car is dangerous and on several occasions i almost hit pedestrians walking or on a bicycle. this occurs on a daily basis and is constant. the honda dealer inspected the issue once and stated that there was no defect, but that the car operates to normal specification and id comparable to all 2008 honda accord 4 cylinder models. this issue was prevalent since i took delivery of the new car in july, 2008. 2.) since taking delivery of this vehicle and to the present date, there is a wobble/wheel shimmy in the suspension at various speeds and different degrees of severity on a daily basis. on the first repair attempt the dealer replaced several tires and performed a high tech wheel balance using a hunter 9700 road force balancing machine. the problem was not corrected. on the second visit the dealer test drove the car and stated that the issue is a characteristic of the vehicle and other honda accord 4 cylinder models with the same engine, transmission and suspension. conclusion: this car is dangerous, exhibits very poor steering and ride as it wanders and shimmies all over the road. this problem combined with poor headlight projection and dimming headlights make this vehicle a major hazard on wheels. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 honda accord. while driving 65 mph, the steering wheel began to vibrate heavily and shake. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but they have been unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. they have rotated the tires and also replaced them; however, the failure still persists. she took the vehicle to michelin ntb and, after a test drive, they stated that the failure could stem from the suspension or transmission. michelin could not determine the cause of the failure as well. the contact believes that a crash could occur because she is unable to control the steering at high speeds. the failure mileage was 8,200 and current mileage was 8,300. updated 11/25/08. *lj updated 11/25/08.*jb

My 2008 accords consistently flash/dim every 30 seconds when the auto climate control mode is on. this is a safety issue when driving on a dark road at night as one's eyes naturally look away from the road for about a second-- enough time to be dangerous. i complained to the dealer and they said all vehicles do this. i have never heard of any vehicle doing this. i asked when the service bulletin would be coming out, assuming there is one in the works given the widespread issue, but the service writer ignored my comment. i had to literally demand that the dealer write my complaint on the repair order, and at the end, with my repair order, the clerk handed me an article trying to explain away the issue or pacify me. (it was a honda article, which looked like it was from a repair manual or brochure, which stated that basically, if the customer complained to tell them its normal.) in auto climate mode, the air conditioning compressor/fan kicks on every 30 seconds (even in the middle of winter) and the lights seem to flash at that time. also, the steering pump makes a very loud whining/moaning noise at 1500-2000 rpms, and the steering in the vehicle has a shuttling/slipping sensation in the steering wheel upon turning. the dealer confirmed the steering issue and has ordered a new power steering pump which will hopefully remedy the issue. finally, the driver's door handle, interior and exterior, does not open the door on occasion. this is also a safety issue as being able to exit the vehicle in emergency is critical. for such a highly touted vehicle manufacturer, honda needs to work on fixing problems with their cars on the road and finding a resolution, not just their reputation and/or their bottom line. also, honda needs to instruct its dealers to take its customer's complaint's seriously, not simply attempt to diminish the complaint (i.e. headlights flashing) because it is a widespread issue. i am disappointed with honda's handling of the defects. *tr
