Grinding or sqealing sounds while braking is applied. brake pads was 100% (totally) worn out and there's metal to metal grinding contact at the (passengers) right rear wheel rotor, but the left side back brake shoes was 80% worn out. the front wheels brake shoes was still 80% thick.

Sudden screeching of rear breaks and short after grinding noise when breaking. took car to get breaks checked and had to replace break pads due to calipers sticking and making interior pads wear out completely while exterior pads where still good. rotors worn to or below minimum specifications. will have to replace both rear rotors and calipers. i have never had to replace rotors or calipers on any car, not even with 86k miles on them and on this 2009 honda accord ex-l i have to replace them at 46,413 miles? this is not good! honda should pay for all expenses and parts. lowest quote to replace with oem is approximately $750.00 what would the cost be if i would of not hear the noise and check the breaks?

I brought my car into honda today for service and they tell me that i need rear brakes. i was a part of the class action suit two years ago to this day when i had to have my rear brakes replaced with a new improved pad. i had 16,527 miles then and now i have 35,859 and they need to be replaced again. these are rear brake pads and should last much more that 17,000 miles. due this issue, my rotors were damaged by these new and improved brakes and have to be replaced, again. i feel that this is something that honda should cover and not sure if anyone else out there has had a similar issue. two sets of rear brakes before 36000 is unacceptable. *tr

Service person says i need rear brake pads replaced and the rotors cut. i complained that the wear was too premature and should be a subject of manufacturer's recall and should be free of charge. after talking to two other personnel at the findlay honda henderson i got the same response. it must be my driving habits that i brake hard. of course i know i don't. the other guy says it's normal wear. i've had several cars and the normal wear is beyond 60k miles. i'll never buy honda ever again and will volunteer to all not to buy honda cars. i'll also put a sign on my rear windshield of the poor quality of the brakes. cost of brake job-$200. mileage 32586. *tr

Started hearing rear brake squeaking. mentioned to dealer when getting an oil change and was told i needed the rear brakes replaced at 20,493 miles. i was given an excuse that this could be due to my driving habits. the front brakes should go first, so i did some research and found that a class-action lawsuit has been approved to cover $150 of the repair which i do not feel is adequate. it appears to be an engineer design error on the 2008, 2009 and some 2010 honda accords. i believe there should be a recall and they should fix the problem due to their own error. we pay big bucks to these car companies and they need to be held accountable when they cut corners or their engineers screw up. *tr

I bought my 2009 honda accord lx on december 30, 2008. less than a month after that, my brakes started making a horrific squeaking sound every time i applied pressure to them. it does not matter if i tap them lightly or i push down hard; the brakes still make terrible noises. i took my car in to the honda dealership twice for an oil change and once for the brake sounds. all three times, i asked the associates to check the brakes. each time, they said the brakes were adjusted (i.e. sanded) and that the noise should cease. on the my trip, i told them whatever they were doing wasn't working. it was then i was told that honda accords seem to have a brake issue, but honda is aware and working on a solution. as of last week, my car is not only making squeaking noises when i brake, it is also making a high-pitched grinding sound that is audible over music playing on a low volume. the noise occurs every day, just like the brakes' noise happens daily. this should not have happened to a car that was less than a month old and is now less than a year old. i have a little over 25,000 miles on the car and feel embarrassed to have to drive a car that looks so nice but sounds so horrible. i fear going long distances because i'm worried my brakes may not stop me in time. honda needs to recall the brakes and replace them now. honda owners simply do not deserve this. *tr

Rear brake pads having to be replaced along with resurface of rotors, both front and rear
11/01/201015000
I am leasing a 2009 honda accord ex coupe. i was informed at less than 15,000 miles that i was in need of new rear brake pads. while i fully expected to pay for general maintenance and reasonable wear items during my lease. there is no reason that i should need to replace my brake pads at 15,000 miles. in speaking with the service center at my honda dealer, they informed me that it is not uncommon for 2008 and 2009 accords to experience premature rear brake wear but that honda nor the dealership would pay for the service. i was then informed of a class action lawsuit that could reimburse $150 of the $239 it would cost to replace the brake pads. while this does help with the financial burden, it does not cover the entire expense. nor does it excuse honda's unwillingness to fix this quality/safety issue and spare their customers the hassle of the up-front expense and additional paperwork required to take part in the suit. i even contacted honda u.s. directly regarding the issue and they directed me back to the class action hotline and said there was nothing more they could do. although honda does not take responsibility for the faulty product, they have released an improved brake pad which, supposedly, has a longer lifespan. clearly, however, there is a defect with brakes that wear down so quickly with normal use. one of the reasons i chose a honda product was due to what i thought was a superior quality and safety rating. in light of the current situation, i will likely not lease or purchase another honda vehicle when my lease runs out.

The rear brakes of my honda accord 2009 began making a terrible scraping noise. honda claimed i had left the parking brake on while i drove it. i had never used the parking brake. i had driven 20,000 highway miles on the vehicle. i do not think i wore out the rear brakes.it was repaired 5/24/2010. the following day, i rec. a notice of a class action suit against honda for rear brakes. why is honda not repairing the brakes for free?

Purchased a 2009 honda acoord full loaded. after 18 thousand miles, i needed to change the rear breaks. according to dealer it was a defect on the pads and that is why i ran with the problem. i saw online all the complaints on the same issue and is incredble, i beleive the 2008 and 21009 should be recallon all breaks since it looks like pople are changing their brakes every 7-8 month and honda is not doing anything about fixing the problem. i had to pay for my brakes and had such a big problem addressing it to the manager at honda mission valley, he keeps saying that is no the dealers proble, but once i send him the link with all the problems people have on their brakes, he said nothing else. i am concern on my family and my self safety. how many times would i have to change in a year my breaks. is that soomething normal? i don't think so. please let peopl know the problem that all hondas are having right now. something needs to be done. is not fair that we pay thousans of dollars and before 1 year old of purchasing the car, now i am having problems with brakes, accesories inside the car and tire pressure. one of my tires leak tat i have to put air every month. i am very disapointed on how honda handles the issue. i trusted their opinion and wht do i get a piece of crap. this will be the last time i will purchase a honda, i have had the worse experience. i will love for someone to really investigate the prob;em on th erear brakes , on whty they ran out so quicly .

On sept 22, 2008, we purchased a new 2009 honda accord v6 and started experiencing brake problems within the first week of ownership. the car has been serviced by honda 12-15 times. honda has replaced the brake pads, machined the rotors, replaced calipers, installed new abs modulator and we are still experiencing brake problems. after having all these repairs, the car still has brake issues. we feel as if honda isn't taking this seriously. not only is the car still experiencing brake problems, the passenger safety restraint & air bags indicators come on in the car when a passenger is in the car. these brake problems and indicator lights do not happen every time the car driven and that is why we believe honda won't correct the problem. honda is aware that there is an issue with the brake pads, however our car's brake pedal will go to the floor, making it extremely hard to stop the vehicle on occasion. we have had very close encounters to crashing due to this problem. we would like to know if you are aware of these problems with honda? *tr

I purchased a new 2009 honda accord in november 2008. the day after i pulled off of the lot i noticed extreme squealing coming from the brakes. i reported the problem to my dealer and they said it would just need to break in. 1 year, 14000 miles, and 3 complaints later it was still making the noise. i found a service bulletin number online and mentioned this to my dealer who finally replaced the front brakes and retooled the rotors. i am reading of many premature failures of the rear brakes on 2008-09 accords also. i feel this should be looked into by the government. *tr

I bought my 2009 honda back in october, after a 1000 miles my brakes were squeaking i ignored them until the noise started to get louder at about 1,000miles i took in my car to the dealer and they told me they had to change front and rear brakes which i thought it was ridiculous, after 2 weeks of changing my brakes i could hear the squeaking again i brought in my car and they keep telling me its normal, the squawking is getting louder and louder and i really believe there has to be a recall to replace the brakes, honda has been known for their safety but having problems with brakes can be potentially very dangerous. i hope you take care of this matter and help a lot of people solve this problem. *tr
08/28/2009220001
I purchased a 2009 honda and had it service every 3000 miles. upon my second servicing of the car i had the dealership to check my brakes cause they were squeaking; the representative stated that the brake rotors tend to rust and the reason why i was hearing the brakes upon compression. so, me being a woman and all i thought the representative being honest with me however, i drove the car for another week and i could hear this grinding noise while driving as if metal and metal was rubbing together. i thought maybe it would go away but it didn't it kept on and then it suddenly stopped. however, the brakes started scrubbing real bad so i took it for servicing same story...they cleaned off the rotors and nothing else. so it was getting close to my 25k check so i simply prayed and ignored the annoying sound until i was able to take it in. when i did the representative tells me that my rear brake pads need to be replaced i was like that doesn't make any sense - why would i need to replace the rear pads when i drive a front wheel drive automobile. i was extremely messed up about it and complained so they offered to pay half and i the other i told i wasn't going to pay anything. well, i decided to do a little research on the matter and i found this website - http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/accord/2009/index.shtml. there people all over the us complaining about premature brake pad wearing as well as premature rotor warping both of what i'm dealing with. i told my husband i will be trading this car in as soon as we're right side up on our loan; i'm thinking one more year unless you can create a recall for this and have correct this problem. i just pray that it's not that big of a problem where i - myself, or someone gets hurt. please look into this matter asap. cordially, deborah - a concerned honda owner *tr

I have an honda accord ex purchased on oct 2008. ever since 3000 miles i have been hearing a squealing noise when i deploy the brakes. in august 17, 2009 the squeal turned into a grinding noise and i had to replace both rear brake pads. my car has only 20,000 miles. i suspect the quality of the part is below par if not defective. also i suspect that the right part is not being used on the new generation of accords (2008, 2009) thereby causing excessive wear and tear. please investigate this issue. *tr

Rear brake wear signal indicator stated to squeal and make scraping sounds. inspection reveals excessive wear on right rear brake. dealer told me on 09/13/2011, brakes are warranted for 1 year or 12,000 miles only and no warranty service would be made available. dearler informed me on 09/13/2011 that a form will be provided, as a result of law suit. that would reimburse me $150.00. how can a lawsuit be successful without a safety recall?

Front brakes on this model are prematurely going out. i have 21,000 miles and they are terrible! someone is eventually going to get hurt. transmission is also acting up since the time i bought the car. i have complained six times about both issues but to no avail.

My '09 honda accord started having brake noises at under 20k miles. upon taking in the first time at 22k miles i was told the car needed new rear brake pads and resurfacing already. after much complaining (because brakes aren't usually a warranty item, and this was prior to the class action settlement) they did repair and replace them for free. 1 year later i began experiencing a shimmy when braking on the freeway or especially on a hill, and was told then that the front rotors are now magically warped. i dealt with it for a while, but then recently began hearing the metal on metal sound of the rear pads going out again. sure enough, upon taking to the dealer we purchased the vehicle from, it does in fact now need rear pads again at 46k miles, as well as front rotor resurfacing....which now i'm also told you can't use the front pads anymore when you resurface the rotors. so essentially, i'm replacing both front and rear brakes(rear brakes for the second time), and resurfacing for the second time at only 46k miles. naturally, the honda service department people don't care and won't cover anything under warranty even though this is clearly a well known honda defect. sorry honda, but you just lost a customer who has owned 4 hondas up to this point.

My 09 accord began making horrible metal on metal screeching sound out of the blue at 24,900 miles. took it in for checkup and was told my rear rotors needed to be replaced due to manufacturer error caused by caliper slides being frozen and too much brake pressure applied to rear brakes. was told by technician that he has seen many accords with the same problem of manufacturer error. i am very disappointed as i was not and have not been made aware of this problem by honda.

Rear brake pads wore prematurely as per class action suit notification we received in 2010. upon inspection for routine maintenance (no other signs of a problem occured) found that the rotors were also ruined and required repair. honda seems ready to wash their hands of the situation because of the class action settlement and would not pay for rotor replacement, at least that is what the dealer indicated. total cost of repare was $337. not happy and the second problem with the vehicle on a critical safety system (front wheel bearings went and were replaced by honda at about 20,000 mi). i'm concerned there will be ongoing critical failures if our experience with this accord is any indication of what is to come.

In june 2009 i purchased a 2009 honda accord. at 10,000 miles i was told i needed to replace my rear brake pads. after i complained barber honda changed my brakes for free. now i have 27,000 miles on my vehicle and once again my rear brake pads need to be replaced. i was told by barber honda that i would be responsible to pay for my new brake pads. i was also told it was normal wear and tear. i've had many cars in my life and have never had to replace the rear brakes even once w/27,000 miles on it much less twice. at this rate i will have to replace the rear brakes once a year at $150 each time.

At about 20,000, our 2009 honda accord (v6) started having rear brake noises. we took it to the west covina dealership and they said the rear pads were worn and needed replacing. i said that is very premature to have rear pads wear out so soon and they said it is normal and would not consider any warranty replacement or discount as it was normal wear and tear. we took it to our local independant shop and had them replaced. strange that it was both inner pads that had worn out--the outers had about 50% life left.

We own a 2009 accord with 24,000 miles. at our first oil change, my husband asked the honda annapolis dealer about a card we had received regarding a brake pad class-action lawsuit. the dealer said not to worry about it; if there is a problem they will take care of it for free. our brakes are now making a lot of noise and the pads need to be replaced. my husband stopped in and talked to the same person in the dealership, ted, who said the repair would cost $230, and we would be reimbursed through the class-action. he did not mention that the reimbursement is $150 at best. so this is the second time we have been given misinformation by this honda dealership. i called honda annapolis and spoke to the service manager, dave tennant, whose attitude is best summed up by his statement, i don't want to get involved. he said that the customers and lawyers caused this problem by bringing a lawsuit. he also stated, we don't make the cars here, and suggested that we take the car somewhere else. although my husband had just spoken to ted in person, who then spoke to dave, he acted as though he had no idea what i was talking about. in researching this issue, i see that many consumers are complaining that the replacement pads also wear out prematurely and cause other damage. what a disgrace. i contacted the class-action law firms and got a call from someone at gibbs. she said it has to be an upgraded replacement part in order to be reimbursed; the part costs $66 and with labor the charge should be around $150. i asked how it is that honda can charge $230; she said they can't monitor that. good business sense, as well as common decency, dictates that honda caused this problem and should pay in full to resolve it. honda dealers should be authorized to make these repairs, at no charge to consumers, and apply for reimbursement themselves. it is outrageous for dealers to give customers false information and make us jump through hoops to get reimbursed.

Under normal use, rear break pads fail at an alarming rate. my original pads were completely gone at 15,000 miles. now the second set of pads is worn out at 30,000 miles. front pads seem to be barely worn, and are original to the car.

I want to add my name to the list of people with defective brakes on their 2009 accords. my brakes started squeaking like mad at about 17000 miles. it is unbelievable to me that honda would not issue a recall, knowing that their rear brake pads are defective. they acknowledge this fact by making a replacement pad different from the original pad. to charge customers any amount of money for their defective product in simply unthinkable on honda's part.

I own a 2009 honda accord. at around 25000 miles i heard a noise from the rear wheels. the honda dealer where i had purchased the car told me my brakes needed to be replaced. i stated there must be some defect in the ve3hicle or brakes because the brakes should not need replacing that soon and the rear brakes should never need to be replaced before the front brakes. they said it was normal wear and charged me the full price of more than $250 for replacement. they admitted the new brake pads were a longer lasting material. i was not aware of the well-documented deficiency in 2008-2009 accord brakes at the time and the dealer did not mention the issue nor offer any discounts.

I purchased a 2009 honda accord on october 27th, 2010 at 227 miles. i have not had an issues until this month when my brakes began to ware prematurely at only 11k miles. i had revived a class action letter informing me of this but see it as a clear safety violation on honda's part one as they had know there was an issue with this type of model and two as they refuse to perform work and replace the item with issues under warranty. i find it irresponsible that honda is making me pay for repairs when they know its there design flaw.

2009 honda accords have been recognized to wear prematurely because of caliper pins that were installed incorrectly at the factory. honda has a court hearing on this and you can see more info on www.accordsettlement.com. the consumer who purchased or leased one of these cars will be reimbursed $100 - $150 to replace the pads, but the general price to do this at the authorized honda service centers is sometimes double that. the consumer is being ripped off, and the nhtsa should step in and rectify this.

I had my 2009 honda accord in for service and was told the rear brakes needed replacement. i have only 25,000 mile on it. it was not covered by the warranty, but i was told there is a class action lawsuit pending against honda. this is a major safety issue and a recall should be made.

Intermittent scraping sound from rear of 2009 accord lx-p <20,000 mi. increased frequency over time. took to the dealer where purchased who replaced both rear brake pads (old parts not available) and resurfaced both rear rotors for a cost of $250 - declaired not covered by warranty. internet research and notification of a class action lawsuit for this rear brake failure indicates this is a common problem for specific honda and accura models. i contend that honda is aware of this problem since they have devised (but not delivered to dealers as yet) a replacement set of brake pads. also this is indeed a safety problem since both rear brake pads were at zero pad life remaining and rotors were damaged per the dealer service techs. that means to me that my accord had only 1/2 the designed braking ability which was engineered for this car - making the car unsafe in any emergency braking situation.

My fiance' purchased a 2009 honda accord ex 4 door sedan. she complained about a month ago that she started hearing a high pitched squeal coming from the rear. she had about 19k miles on it so i was bewildered what it could be saying it can't be brakes so it must be a bearing problem. i took it to the dealer, where he reported i needed brakes. he said honda admits they might have an engineering problem with the brakes with premature failure, but won't admit it. service rep stated that the pads especially in the rear are far too small to handle the weight of the car so they wear especially faster than other vehicles. he stated they did a modification by adding a steel sensor so the owner knows when they are getting low. he wouldn't admit that before the modification, there were no sensors on the brakes people would be metal to metal and not know it because of the extremely low miles of wear. online reports put brake failures for this model starting from 2008 anywhere from 14k to 21k. see your own site here: http://www.lemonlawclaims.com/honda%20accord%20brake%20problem.htm question is: in acknowledgement of toyota's current safety issues, when are you going to call honda front and center to address their cavalier attitude to this issue? honda's catatonic movement addressing this issue implies they are more concerned with revenue for repairs than saftey for it's owners. this is going on now for 2 model years! when i left the dealer, i still heard a squeal when i hit the brakes. i went back and took the technician who did the brakes for a test drive. he said i needed the front's replaced too. that is over $400 for brakes and the car is only 1 year old. once again, honda is more concerned over repair revenue than passenger safety. how many people have died from brake failure in late model hondas? fyi: there was another woman waiting in the dealer lounge with me... her 2009 accord had 19k miles and she was told she needed brakes on all 4 wheels.

Premature brake wear on 2009 honda accord v6. brakes have squealed every time vehicle is driven (since about 5k miles). on 3/20/10 after routine service, i was told vehicle needed rear brakes (disks) at 19,203 k miles. i subsequently did checking on edmunds.com and it appears this is not an isolated incident. also, i visited an acura dealer's service center to see if the acura tsx had similar issues - it does.

Brakes on front have been replace 2 times by turning rotors twice and second time pads replaced the fear is now there is a weakness in the rotors and they could fail during a panic stop, also there is a whine in power steering which honda of america admits to but claim they do not have a fix for, they say it is not a safety issue but have do they know that the power steering could cease working at any time since that the whining is not the normal sound of the accords up to late 08 and all the 09 accord 4 cyl.

I own a 2009 honda accord . it was purchased around october 2008. on january 21, 2010, it was taken to our local honda dealer due to squealing brakes. the dealer reported that the rear brakes were worn and the pads needed to be replaced even though there is only 12,901 miles of use on the car. according to the dealer, this has been a common problem with 2008 and 2009 model accords because the rear brakes were reduced in size even though more of the car's braking power was shifted to the rear axle. the dealer stated that many recent honda accords were needing rear brake pads replaced within one year and in as few as 7000 miles of use. as a goodwill gesture, the dealer agreed to replace the brakes for free. i then contacted honda's corporate customer service center in torrance california and was informed that honda is aware of this issue, but does not consider it a safety matter and has not issued a service bulletin regarding this issue. i believe the matter is a safety issue as few drivers would assume that their rear brakes might need to be replaced annually or after as few as 10,000 miles of use or less. by way of comparison, my 2004 honda accord has over 92,000 miles and the brakes are still original. i urge the nhtsa to investigate this issue promptly before a driver hits the brakes in a honda accord and discovers little or no brake power due to the unexpectedly few miles such brakes work before needing to be replaced. *tr

Brakes squeal loudly on 2009 honda accord coupe (v6) since purchased new in september 2008. all four brake pads have been replaced and all four rotors have been shaved twice with no effect. rear brakes are also wearing out prematurely, new pads are almost gone with less than 14,000 miles on car. was told by the dealer service garage that honda is aware of the problem but they instructed dealer not to do any more repairs on the car. that was in 2008 and all through 2009 and no repair is in sight. because of the constant squealing sound, there is absolutely no way to tell when brakes are worn out and they are clearly wearing out prematurely. this seems to me that this would have to constitute a safety issue. *tr

I purchased a 2009 honda accord within the past few months. i was looking into a problem with another vehicle of mine and stumbled across an issue many if not all 08' and 09' accord owners are facing. countless consumers report defects with the rear brakes. mostly that they need to be replaced every 12,000 miles. dealerships are telling the consumer this is the normal wear period for the rear brakes. this of course is not true, the front brakes are the ones that usually go first at around 50,000 depending on driving, conditions, etc. i learned honda is using soft small organic pads. furthermore i've learned of the dealerships unwillingness to cover the cost of the pads and labor from state to state. there is a serious design flaw regarding the brake system. my accord currently has only 4,000 miles on it. though i have not yet experienced the problem everyone else has, i know it is coming. it may seem odd for someone to report a problem that has not happened yet, however the need to be proactive regarding this matter will no doubt save lives. as a police officer in texas, i see the grim reality of what happens when vehicles are driven beyond their means or when the vital systems of these vehicles are defective. if these pads can't handle normal wear and tear they certainly will not be able to provide adequate stopping power during a harmful event. we all care about safety and our families welfare. please look into this matter. our safety should never be compromised over the gain or loss of a dollar. lets fix this now, not after a major incident. someone should not have to die before we decide something should be done about a problem that existed all along. thank you. *tr

2009 honda accord, trim level ex, engine v6 with navigation system. at regular service, dealer advised rear brake pads needed to be replaced. car had, at that time, 16,354 miles on the odometer. deterioration is four times more than front brake pads. honda is aware of this problem on all 2008 and 2009 honda accords but has never notified individual owners of the problem. dealers have been advised by honda to offer owners a partial refund on brake pad replacements. however, the replacement does not alleviate the problem. the owner would again have to replace the brake pads every 15,000 miles or less. honda continues to sell these cars new without advising the potential buyer that the vehicle has a major rear brake pad problem. i feel honda is attempting to hide the problem to avoid a recall and to lessen their financial liability. research into this problem on the internet reveals that thousands of owners have this problem for which honda refuses to accept liability. i consider such premature brake pad wear exposes the owner to potential brake failure resulting in serious injury or death. *tr

The brakes on my 2009 honda accord, purchased at courtesy palm harbor honda started squealing badly at 19,000 miles. i have noticed for the past three months that the car seemed to actually slow down more than normal when i take my foot off the gas -- as if the brakes were not fully released. i've also noticed reduced fuel efficiency. about a week ago, the brakes started squealing badly, as if the pads were fully worn. i figured the problem couldn't be the brake pads at 19k miles, so i brought it in to the dealer today. turns out the rear brake pads are completely worn down and it is the service technician's opinion that the cause is my style of driving -- not a defective honda problem. after telling him that i drive with only one foot (i don't hold my left foot on the brake pedal while driving), he stated that accords are built with autobahn quality, high-performance brake parts that are really soft for enhanced braking ability. i told him that i hardly feel that this base-model accord would be considered a high performance vehicle. nevertheless, the soft / high-quality pads and my driving style was his reason (according to him) for the premature wearing of the brakes. i've owned 15+ cars in my life time and have never had brake pads wear down in less than 40,000 miles - especially rear brakes! i told the tech that after doing extensive research, i found out that this is a very well-known problem with accords. he said his hands were tied and he couldn't offer me any relief without honda corp's. blessing. the service tech told me the pads were nice and evenly warn. i changed the brake pads myself and found the opposite to be true - the inner pad was way more worn out than the outer - indication a brake system defect. *tr

2009 honda accord with less than 30k miles noted to have squeaking from rear brakes within few months of purchase. dealer said it was normal wear in period. squeak never resolved. went to independent auto repair shop. inspection revealed severe brake pad wear for limited mileage and dangerous amount of warping and damage to the rear rotors. honda motor co. contacted and stated will look into it, but nothing to do now, as this is not a safety concern. i questioned how damage to the brake system can be considered not a safety concern and they hung up.*tr

After only 4000 miles on my honda accord coupe 2009 the brakes had started to squeak. everytime you hit the brakes this issue occurs. i have not done anything as of yet because it is a brand new car and based on information found on the web it seams majority of individuals on forums have the same issue. this is a premature wear on the brakes possibly because of bad pistons and should be recalled based on the fact that if not it can end up with a liability issue. *tr

I purchased a 2009 honda accord ex-l in feb of this year. since about may of this year, the brakes have had a terribly squeaking noise to it. i am afraid that my brakes are failing, however, am assured by honda that it is just a cosmetic defect. i do not feel confident in this request. please investigate. *tr

I bought a 2009 honda accord from a local dealer here in nashville,tn. i have about 20,000 miles on my car and i started hearing a weird screeching noise and went to the dealer for a check up. the dealer service guys told me that my rear brake pads have worn out and is out of warranty. i cross checked with other honda accord buyers and they all had a similar problems with their brake pads. this was mentioned to the dealer service guys and then they accepted that they had few thousand complaints on the same issue from new car owners. they are refusing to replace the brake pads as the company had not yet sent them any directive for such. they want to charge me $180.00 for rear brake pads replacement. the dealer name is crest honda in nashville and the car is a 2009 honda accord sedan. this problem seems to be a poor design or a manufacturing defect that the company needs to own up and fix it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact stated the brakes and the transmission are making a loud noise when shifting gears into reverse. the dealer test drove the vehicle, duplicated the failure and stated that since the vehicle is brand new the noise will subside. the honda manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle repaired by a local dealer. the contact informed the manufacturer that the vehicle was diagnosed on two occasions by the dealer. the failure mileage was 11 and the current mileage was 460.

2009 honda accord leased in 2008 from valley honda, 4173 ogden avenue, aurora il, 60504. the vehicle was returned to the dealership due to noise coming from brakes and steering wheel pulling to the left. returned vehicle several more times complaining of same issue. valley honda stated there per techline, honda is aware of the problem and is working on a countermeasure. in my opinion this is a safety hazard. i explained to honda, the dealership and the better business bureaus that this is a safety hazard because i have to pump my brakes in order to control the vehicle during stopping...all disagreed. can you help? *tr

As many other 2009 honda accord owners have complained, i too have squeaky brakes, from the almost the get go on my car. i contacted the dealer, and they said i had dirt in the brakes! give me a break! after much research, i have found to not be alone, and that honda is doing nothing to fix the problem. *tr

I bought a 2009 honda accord sedan and after approximately 1000 miles, the brakes when applied started to make a screeching sound. i thought that maybe the brakes would have to be broken in but after a 2000 miles, i had the same noise and was getting louder. i made an appointment to service the car at the dealership where purchased. the fix was replacement of the pad shims and grease. less than one hundred miles i took the car in again, and this time i told them that something had to be replaced. the brake pads at least. the serivce attendant said that honda could not do anything. i called honda corporation and basically was told the same thing. honda could not do anything because there were no recalls. the last thing i told honda was that i just had to live with the problem and simply said yes. i would hope that this complaint is joined with others to force honda to resolve this problem. thank you. *tr

I purchased a 2009 honda accord v6 on february. when i apply the brakes my car makes a loud squeaking noise. the noise is getting worse. i've been to the dealership over 4 times and have called in regards to them fixing the problem. they told me that it was the brake pads. they are still in the process of investigating the problem. why is this taking so long? the honda consumer affairs department said that if i fix the brake i would have to pay out of pocket. honda will not fix this problem unless its recalled. my left speaker as well has shorted out. i went to the car audio store and had the speaker replaced with a new honda speaker and once again it shorted at a high volume. the gentleman at the car audio store informed me that this was a manufacturing problem on the car. *tr

This is a very common problem is arising with honda accords 2008 model, rear brake pads. they tend to wore out after 15,000 miles. i am a owner of 2008 honda accord v6, and at first i didn't think this would happen to me since i figured it's just random events but after today seeing that right side rear brakes are almost gone and there is only little bit of pad left on right side, i started researching and found out this is a very common problem with honda accord 2008 models. i contacted my original dealership and they totally acted like this is not common at all and very rare and a car should have its pads replaced every 15,000-25,000 miles. it makes no common sense since i'm only at 17000 miles and i drive very safe and not the type to hit the brake hard. here's a link for more information. http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/accord/2008/brakes/premature_brake_wear.shtml. *tr

I have a 2009 honda accord exl w/navi 4 cylinder. it currently has 6000 miles and i bought it in september 2008. i have taken it to the dealer 3-4 times about the brakes squealing. it occurs every time i apply the brakes, no matter the speed or use. they first told me it was too new and they had to break in. then that it was because they were cold due to the winter weather and i needed to drive 55-60 mpg and slam on the breaks to warm up. then it was due to new brake pads not being made like they used to be when they used asbestos in pads. then it was because all the rain had caused a build up and they needed to be cleaned. everytime they told me it was normal and something i would have to deal with. it is not normal for a brand new car's brakes to squeal everytime they are applied. this seems to be a common complaint on this website and honda needs to do something about it. *tr

2009 honda accord. squeaky brakes since i drove if off the lot. salesman said it was because car was so new. squeak got worse. have taken it back 4 time for service on this matter, deglazed, sprayed, trimmed rotors still not resolved. honda is not forth coming about this character flaw in this vehicle. after googling issue today i found this is a defect with 2008 and 2009 honda accords. they need to be made responsible for correction without futher inconvience to buyers. *tr

I purchased a 2009 honda accord ex-l on april 11, 2009 from hoffman honda in avon ct. within the first 500 miles, the brakes started to squeak loudly. i tolerated it, barely, until the first oil change at 3,000 miles at which time i complained to the dealer. the service representative said he could not hear it though it was apparent that he temporarily fixed the problem by cleaning the brakes pads and/or rotors. it's been 300 miles since the first service and they are squealing loudly again. this is extremely dangerous because it forces the driver to not apply the brakes correctly to try to quiet the deafening noise. it is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. this is a known problem and should be corrected by honda. *tr

I bought a 2009 honda accord on may 5, 2009. i've noticed the breaks squeak terribly. this should not be happening with a brand new car. the honda dealership will do nothing as they claim honda sent them an email advising them they are working on the problem and should have a solution by july 1, 2009. it is july 25th and still nothing. there are several complaints about this very problem and honda needs to remedy this in a timely manner. *tr

The day after i purchased my 2009 honda accord ex 4dr sedan, the brakes have squeaked. i have made several attempts to get this issue resolved, however every time i speak to either honda corporate or the local dealership , i am told the mechanics are working on this issue and honda is aware. i have had my car serviced 4 times since i purchased the vehicle for the obnoxious sound coming from my braking and still there is no resolution. i am told time and time again, there is no safety issue, however, no one seems to know what the true problem is. so how are the 100% sure there is 'no safety issue?' i am in the process of filing a lemon law suit against honda and i feel very strongly about the need for a recall. *tr

2009 honda accord sedan v-6. currently has 2400 miles. brakes have been squeaking since new. i took it to the honda dealer and they said that honda is aware of the issue but that it is due to the composition of the brake pads and they do not currently have a fix for it. the brakes seem to work ok but the squeaking is disconcerting, and i believe it is a safety issue as the existing squeaking will make it difficult to ascertain when the brake pads actually become worn down. *tr

Honda accord ex-l 2009. purchased may 2009. brakes have been squealing since purchase of car. i took it in and the service person said, 90% of all 2008 and 2009 accords are having the same problem. american honda is aware of the problem but that there is no current recall for it. as to when there will be a recall, it may be next year, if there is one. until then, there is nothing we can do about it. and there is no point in replacing the brake pads and rotors because it will end up with the same problem. it won't go away by replacing them. if 90% of the new honda accords are having this problem, then certainly american honda should do something about the squealing brakes.*tr

I purchased a brand new 2009 accord ex-l v6 coupe in september 08. i only have about 19k miles and the dealership says the rear brakes are at 0% while the front brakes are at 90%. this is a front wheel drive vehicle and there is no reason the rear brakes should be completely gone. *tr

2009 honda accord. brakes squeal very loudly when applied. been to the dealer 3 times about this issue. first time they cleaned the brakes, second time they turned the front rotor and sanded the brake pads. third time (6/20/09) they handed me a tsb about the issue. the accord had 2232 miles when this first started and was taken to the dealership. today it has 3816 miles. very poor for honda. really nice car to sound so cheap. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact purchased the vehicle on april 1, 2009. she heard a squeaking sound when the brake pedal was depressed. the dealer stated that this was a common issue with her make and model vehicle. the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. a mechanic test drove the vehicle, but found no failures other than the squeaking brakes. the contact believes that this is a safety issue. the dealer advised her to wait until honda issued a recall. the failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 2,000.

2008 honda bought new after 28,000 miles hondaland said i needed back brakes, everyone knows the front always go out first and i called the honda corp. and after all the frustration they insisted i pay by cash or certified check, my wife was on the way to pick up the car when they call me stating this. when she got to hondaland they insisted that she have them shuttle her to our bank to get cash, this is totally ridicules and i want something done about this. the honda corp. called the dealership and said i must pay cash, i wanted to put it on my credit card so i wouldn't be short on cash this month. i am appalled at there actions and i expect a cash refund and i want honda to pay for this brake job that never should have been needed, i went on the internet and there have been over 200 complaints, the worst was only 5,000 miles and the back brakes were shot. factory recall !!!!! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. while driving 50 mph, the steering column shook violently when the brakes were applied. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they could not duplicate or remedy the failure. upon further inspection, the contact noticed that water would freeze inside the wheel rims in wet, freezing conditions. the failure caused the rotors to rust and the braking system not to perform at its full potential. the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that no compensation would be provided because the vin was not included in a recall. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 938 and current mileage was 1,024. updated 6/3/09 *cn updated 06/04/09.*jb

2009 honda accord. consumer states a problem with the abs and squealing fan belt *tgw the consumer stated he encountered a vehicle attempting to cross two lanes of traffic abruptly and without warning. he narrowly avoided a collision, but in the process his vehicle went in a right hand skid with the tires screeching. it became apparent that the anti-lock brakes did not function, no pulsating occurred as he had experienced in previously owned vehicles. the dealer stated the belt was squealing due to it getting wet from the rain. *jb
