A defect petition letter was received by the office of defects investigation (odi) requesting a formal investigation and recall of my 2005 honda accord hybrid vehicles for a possible safety defect related to braking performance. the petitioner (with assistance from another consumer due to her injuries) filed a complaint with odi under vehicle owner questionnaire (voq) 10329383.in the complaint the petitioner described being involved in a crash on july 23, 2005 while driving a subject vehicle. summarily, the complaint alleges while traversing rumble strips along side of the highway and simultaneously attempting to the brake, the brakes were ineffective and the vehicle began to accelerate uncontrollably. this began a chain of events where the vehicle eventually crossed over into traffic flowing in the opposite direction. the end result was the death of her passenger and injuries to the occupants of two other vehicles. the petitioner also alleges the crash left her disabled. subsequent to the incident on july 23, 2005, the petitioner did a search of odi's complaint database and identified 22 additional complaints involving other honda accord hybrid and honda civic hybrid vehicles that the petitioner felt represented similar incidents where the braking performance was inadequate under conditions of braking while driving over uneven road surfaces.odi will evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 honda civic hybrid. while driving approximately 35 mph merging on the interstate he engaged the accelerator and suddenly the acceleration stopped. he stated he engaged the accelerator harder but it felt like the vehicle had no more acceleration compared to normal.the vehicle revved up but the hybrid system was not helping. before he merged on the interstate he checked how much power he had in the vehicle's battery pack. and he had five bars. when he felt the acceleration stop, the power gauge dropped from 5 bars to 1 bar rapidly. the vehicle has been take to the dealer five times for the failure. the dealer has performed two software updates on the vehicle. the failure has occured 6 times since the last software update. the dealer advised him that honda was aware of the failure but does not have a fix and they are refusing to look at the vehicle now. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 64,610. vwb

Failure of braking system -abs brakes of my 2007 honda accord hybrid car. brakes have failed to stop car when i've gone over a bump --they vibrate and make noise, but do not stop the car. this has led to near accidents four times since i bought the car new over three years ago. a similar problem has occurred when brakes are wet and i'm trying to stop at low speed. the honda dealer, herb chambers, westboro, ma. has dismissed these reports as normal abs braking system characteristics. this is unaccepatable -- this is definitely a braking failure and flaw, and poses a high risk in certain situations. i have recently read of similar complaints on this vehicle, and feel i need to corroborate this problem. i request an investigaton and recall to correct this problem on the accord hybrid.
