Defect SummaryThe front safety belt buckle release buttons can break. these red plastic release buttons are marked press. if a button breaks, pieces can fall into the buckle assembly causing the buckle to operate improperly.
Consequence SummaryThe safety belts would not provide adequate protection to an occupant in a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryOwners should promptly check the condition and operation of both front safety belt buckles. carefully inspect the red release button for any breaks or cracks. check that both buckles are operating properly by inserting each latch plate into its buckle, tug on the belt to make sure the latch is securely locked, then press the release button. the latch plate should pop out of the buckle when the button is pressed. if either release button shows any sign of breakage or cracking, or if either buckle fails to operate properly, promptly contact your authorized honda/acura dealer to schedule an appointment to have the buckle replaced or repaired, free of charge. the manufacturer is developing a remedy designed to prevent the failure of the buttons that are not currently broken.

On my 1988 honda civic, i found out through the internet ,that there were recalls for the efi control unit, a recall for the seatbelts, and a recall for the ignitor, and for some reason i never received those recalls. i been driving the car with the bad efi, and the idle just jumps up and down, and now my ignitor is gone bad and the car won't start. i almost got hit from the back because the ignitor failed while i was on the right lane in the highway. the car shutters and stalls...the efi unit just suddenly speeds up the car, since the idle jumps up..i spent so much money changing the good parts. i would like honda to replace the ignitor and the efi unit free of charge, now that i know those 2 parts are the problems all these years.. please chk this site also: http://earthrenewal.org/are_honda_automobiles_safe_and_r.htm ..please write back asap..thank you..
