 Tl* the contact owns a 2004 honda civic. the contact stated that the vehicle was parked when he attempted to unlock the front driver's door manually. the contact stated that he experienced difficulty inserting the key and once the key was inserted, he experienced difficulty turning the key. the failure progressed until the key would not turn when inserted in the door lock. the failure also occurred on the front passenger door. in addition, the same failure occurred with the trunk and ignition switch. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on various occasions to have the door lock cylinders replaced. the ignition key cylinder was also replaced. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 25,000.

 Tl-the contact owns a 2004 honda civic ex sedan. while driving at various speed the trunk latch will not stay latched and the trunk would open. the vehicle was purchased used in 2009. the failure had been on going since the purchase. he called the dealer and they advised him that the vehicle was not under warranty. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop and they repaired the vehicle but the contact was not sure what they did. he stated the repair worked for a while and re-occurred. the contact stated he broke the latch on yesterday attempting to close the trunk. the vehicle had not been repaired. he called the manufacturer and they referred him to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 78,000. vwb

 A metal component on the gas tank door cable rusted and i was unable to get the little door open to fill with gas. had to tear into the latch assembly and manually open the door by holding the cable in place while pushing on the latch. *tr

 Tl*the contact owns a 2004 honda civic. the front passenger door handle broke in july 2009. in november 2009, the front driver door handle and the rear driver side door handle broke internally. he contacted the manufacturer who took note of the call but stated that they could not assist him since it was not a wide spread issue. the contact will have the vehicle inspected by a dealer. the current mileage was approximately 42,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

 Dt*: the contact stated the doors would not unlock from the inside. when the button was pushed the latch would move up and down but the door would not open. the unlock button on the key fob was pushed multiple times and the doors eventually opened. this is an intermittent problem and the vehicle has not been seen by the dealership. updated 4/19/2006 - *nm
