The rear tires wear badly to the point of the tires cupping and wearing unevenly. this process is horrible and dangerous as it will eventually shake the car and lock the seat belt while driving on the highway. a person also loses the ability to steer effectively due to the bumpiness from the tires. when i took my vehicle in to get new tires (due to problems stated above), they said that the inside of my tires were on the verge of blowing out, yet i still had tread on the outer side of my tire. based on this, i was more at risk to have a blow-out at any time and would have had no inclination because my tires still looked new

At around 35mph the vehicle suddenly started to make a metallic-type noise and the vehicle shut down immediately. if it would've happened 5 seconds later it would've occurred right as i was about to make a left turn, it would've most likely caused a severe accident and possibly a fatality. when i took the car to where the vehicle was purchased from they told me a bolt was torn lose from the tensioner. this caused all belts to break down and the engine to shutdown while running at around 35mphs. furthermore, the bolt flew into the engine block costing costly repairs. the company, honda refused to pay for the damage caused by this defect and told me to take it with my extended warrant provider. they claim it's wear and tear but that is not the case as previous recalls for the same problem were issued for my vehicle but according to them not my particular vin. bolts shouldnt tear off at 29,000 miles or six years. *tr

Occasionally, after starting the car, the power steering system does not activate. the eps(electronic power steering) light on the dash comes on, and the car will run without power steering. usually by turning off and restarting the car a few times fixes the problem.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph when the power steering became difficult to maneuver and made a loud grinding noise. no warning lights illuminated on the instrumental panel prior or after. 5 minutes later the vehicle began to smoke from the engine. she then drove the vehicle to a independent mechanic and they informed her that the tensioner pivot bolt had fractured and entered into the engine block causing the smoke and the difficult steering. the vehicle was repaired for the tensioner pivot bolt and assembly. the failure mileage was approximately 60,500. tb

My 2006 honda civic had the tsb09-007 recall performed to reroute the drive belt and replace the pivot bolt on 3/9/2009. the bolt broke after another 20000miles on 8/21/2010. i do not think my dealer replaced the bolt in question (hoffman honda of west simsbury connecticut) or the recall is not sufficient to fix the problem. this is a safety issue because the tsb clearly states this failure can relult in a loss of power steering.

To whom it may concern: the purpose of this letter is to complain about the treatment i received from honda of america. i was in a minor accident on june 11 2008. the accident was caused by the tie rod breaking on my 2006 honda civic as i was driving on a city street at 25 miles per hour. the mechanical failure caused my car to veer into 2 parked cars causing minor damage to each. the attending officer stated that the accident was obviously the result of a mechanical failure and did not issue any tickets. the body shop owner also agreed that a mechanical failure caused the accident. this prompted me to inform honda of america of the accident caused by the broken tie rod. honda

On sept 7, 2007. i complain to honda dealership in carson, about a roaring sound on my real wheels. aside from that there was uneven wear on both inner side of the tires. the sound was like a bearing failure. they told me that i need an alignment. so i paid for it. plus i have to buy new tires. then today 9-2-08. it happened again with the same issues. i was told they wound not cover since it was out of warranty. my car 55,000 however on february of this year 2008. there is a service bulletin regarding this issue. with the same symptoms on 2006 and 07 honda civic lx and ex not si. so tried to argue about the service bulletin both honda dealership and honda motors north america. they are giving me a run around and wont pay me for my tires and alignment cost. but they will fix the problem which is replacing flange and upper control arm as stated in service bulletin. i request your kind office and recommend a recall on this issues of alignment because they said its just a service bulletin and not a recall. so its not mandatory. so they wont pay for my third tire and alignment . and the can get off the hook. this is a safety issue because not all people recognize this and still drive their cars unit the tread comes out and the whole car shakes when they are bad and wobble the front steering .i'm a mechanic for (yrs never have a hard time getting issues straighten out. *tr

I purchased a 2006 honda civic lx in the us and brought it to korea with me a few months ago. i, however, just found out that the power steering fluid has been leaking and was told that the power steering pump should be replaced soon cause it might leads to an accident if it's not fixed. i am pretty sure that this part must be defected in the beginning but the problem for me is that the honda would not fix it with free of charge because i purchased it in the us and it's in korea now. i don't think it's fare for consumers (cause it should have been still under the factory warranty). is there any way i can get it fixed with free of charge?? *ak

I purchased a 2006 civic ex in december of 2005. within 3 months, the right driver side a/c vent started to rattle as well as around both driver side and passenger seat belt adjusters. i took the vehicle to the dealership who replaced the vent but could not located the noise by the seat belt adjusters. at this time, they also found that the power steering fluid had been leaking and repaired this was well. at my next schedule oil change, i complained about the a/c vent rattling more than before the and the rattling around the seat belt height adjusters had increased. they installed a new a/c vent for the second time. they also were able to determine after taking off the panel where the seat belt adjusters are located, that it was poorly insulated and added felt tape. the new a/c vent is more sturdy than the original and first replacement so it no longer rattles. the felt tape insulation has also stopped the seat belt adjuster from rattling. however in the last few weeks i have additional rattling which i have located to inside of ceiling directly behind the moon roof. *jb

Within the last year i have noticed a leak on the back side of the engine while changing oil in my wife's 2006 civic. first time, the dealer told me it was a leaky oil pan gasket bolt which they tightened. this time i am told the power steering pump is leaking and will need to be replaced. the car is 18 months old with 51,000 miles on it. the honda dealer is currently repairing the car for $470 by replacing the power steering pump. this should not be happening on a year this old! *tr

STEERING - WHEEL AND HANDLE BAR

Brought vehicle to honda due to loud roaring sound near rear left tire. i thought it was the bearing as there had been a recall and my car was supposedly ok. honda calls and wants to charge me almost $800 for 2 new control arms, 2 new rear tires, and an alignment. i do some research and find out there is a tsb: honda designed the control arms wrong causing premature wear of the tires. the fix is to replace them with newly designed control arms. so, honda should pay for it considering they designed a defective product. honda will not pay for it. essentially, honda is admitting the product is defective by replacing it with a newly designed product. my purchased an aftermarket warranty from the honda stealership: they refused to replace the control arms claiming it is a defect caused by honda and the part is not broken. the consumer loses once again and honda takes the money. this is not the only defective design on this car: the engine block cracks due to improper casting, the cheap visors break: at least honda extended the warranty on this to 8 years. after that, i guess you're out of luck. this is my 6th honda. i also have a honda lawnmower and powerwasher. honda was the only vehicle i would buy due to their high quality and reliability. they used to build quality products and stand behind them. now they build garbage at a premium price and refuse to stand behind them. i knew i bought that hyundai sonata for $4,000 less than an accord... ps: the hyundai has 0 issues and runs great with similar mileage. sorry honda: i will be purchasing from a company that stands behind their products instead of company riding off of their name legacy from the 80's and 90's. check out hyundai or even dare i say and american car: the quality is much better.

I took the car to a honda dealership because the back tires were wearing out prematurely on the inside. they replaced the upper control arms with the supposedly correct control arms marked c and did an alignment, but that did not solve the problem! i just bought a full set of new tires in july of 2010 and my car was aligned and i am about to need new tires again! in addition, the driver's visor fell off and was replaced. however, both visors fell off the second time, and are now held on with zip ties. there is a design flaw in the visor as well.

On my 2006 honda civic si, rear spoke covers on leather wrapped steering wheel protrude with sharp edges. this comes in contact with the fingers while driving. it is not merely a tactile concern since the sharp edge has actually cut my finger tip within the first week of owning this new car. the concern exists on other leather wrapped steering wheels of the same model. there is currently no solution to this matter with american honda and it is obviously a bad fitment of the steering wheel back onto a leather wrapped steering wheel. it is bad design and can interfere with driving ability of the car. every time the wheel is turned about 180 degrees, upon return to center the sharp plastic edge of the back spoke covers come slicing at the finger tips. with no solution currently planned and what i would call poor response in honda's resolution scenario, this needed to be brought to a higher level of attention. since this affects my model of car and possibly other 2006 civics with the leather wrapped steering wheel option, it will affect many customers and will potentially injure drivers and interfere with driving ability. *nm
