Air conditioner blows only hot air after driving on the freeway. took the vehicle to dealer for inspection. culprit was found to be a leaking suction line, probably punctured by road debris during drive. the location of the suction line is in front of the radiator, which is not protected by a mesh grill. due to its location, suction line is easily damageable. honda should provide free replacement because this is fundamental design fault. the dealer fixed this issue by replacing the fragile copper suction line with a heavy duty rubber tube and redirected it behind the bumper instead of in front of the radiator.

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. while driving at the speeds of 40mph when the sun visor on the driver side broke and popped out if place and this is the second time this has occurred . the dealer was contacted and they stated that it is a known issue and is no longer fixing them for free. there have been no repairs to the visor at this moment. the failure mileage was 34000 and current mileage was 62020.cv

The visor on my 2006 honda civic cracked and has been hanging in my face blocking my vision since last summer. it if very unsafe for people to drive around with these visors hanging in their faces. they will not go back up once cracked. you cant even see the traffic light in front of you without leaning all the way over. today it finally fell all the way off. i have found hundreds of these complaints and still no recall from honda. *tr

I have a 2006 honda civic. i have had to replace the rear tires on it 4 times since april of 2007. i contacted honda today, december 2, 2008 after finding a bulletin that they posted about the problem, but because my vehicle is now out of warranty they refuse to reimburse me or pay to get this fixed. it states in the bulletin that the rear upper control arm is too short and that it causes uneven and rapid rear tire wear, as well as vibration at highway speeds. this is a hazard for me driving the vehicle as it is, but i do not have the money to keep replacing tires, nor do i have the money to get it fixed on my own. if they had sent me some type of notice or something i would have gotten this fixed while my vehicle was still under warranty. things like this should be fixed by the manufacturer, or dealership for no charge because they are a hazard to us as drivers, and expensive to fix. *tr

The overhead visors on both the driver and passenger side will not go back up to the original resting position. when they are pulled down, a gap forms between the hard plastic portion and the center portion. normally, when they are put in the normal resting position the gap closes and creates a popping sound. currently, the gap won't close anymore. i had this problem before with the visor on the passenger's side and a honda retailer car shop replaced the visor. this problem seems to occur more in the summer months. *tr

Both drivers side and passenger side sun visors broke before 30k miles, and dealership replaced. visors have again broken, but car is no longer under warranty and the dealership will not replace. many owners of same make/model car have complained about this same defect. i think a recall is appropriate. *tr

I recently had an incident on my 2006 honda civic ex coupe in which the trunk lid door jammed and would not open. there are two ways of opening the trunk, one being on the remote and the other being the lever in the driver compartment. (the trunks on these cars do not have a keyed entry.) upon further investigation, i discovered that the trunk has no access from the outside of the trunk if the lid door will not open. these cars have a 60/40 fold down rear seat that is only able to open from inside the trunk. after speaking with honda, they confirm that this is in fact the design if the car. my fear is that a small child will accidentally get locked in the truck of the car and the door jams. this could have deadly results because there is no quick way to gain access. *tr

The driver's side visor broke off completely. the internal mechanism used to raise and lower the visor does not move easily -- now, not at all --causing the plastic visor to fall apart. dealer has agreed to replace it, but it is on back order because of the number of complaints and problems with this component. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated there was a clunking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. the problem was getting progressively worse. the dealership determined the motor mount was bad. the dealership repaired the motor mount by replacing an unknown part, but the problem persisted. the dealership refused to repair the updated 10/25/2006 - the dealer replaced the side engine mounts but the noise returned. the vehicles power steering elbow inlet leaked. *nm

The front and rear windows squeak over mild to severe bumps. the noise was brought to my dealers attention, they thought it was due to the rear deck and tightened and foamed the rear deck to solve the problem. this has not solved the noise problem, so on the next visit, i stressed that it may be coming from the windows. they say they might have found the problem, where the windows needed to be oiled, ie. blade area? *nm

Rear windshield lifts off at right rear pillar when the air of closing the driver or passenger door pushes it out of the frame. two days later at the service appointment, the rear windshield had lifted off the entire roof line, with a height of 2 inches at the right rear pillar. honda service dept. said they'd never seen anything like it; the caulking had not been sufficient to keep the windshield in place. they reglued it. an acquaintance in nj saw the same thing happen to the 2006 honda coupe in front of him. he changed lanes fast. *jb

Creaking and rattling from interior of car in several areas--most notable the rear. general feeling of parts falling apart or coming loose while driving. the loudest and most troublesome noise sounds like it is coming from where the rear interior shelf and rear window meet. the noise is loudest when the car is cold and happens mostly while driving over rough patches of highway, crossing road reflectors, or when the stereo is on. there is also a creaking noise coming from all areas of the front dash and console around the front windshield during all driving conditions. the creaking and rattling has been a problem since the first week i bought the car. i have owned several cars and these noises are not the typical interior noises you hear in a car. i have taken my car to the dealer 6 times for this problem. while the tech's agree there is definitely a problem, they don't know how to fix it. so far, the rear deck has been insulated with foam tape and the center console has been replaced. the noise is still there. on march 10, the honda area rep also looked at my car and agreed there is a problem but was not aware of any fix for the problem. i also called honda cust service to report the problem and while the customer service rep admitted he has heard of this complaint, he also was not aware of any fix for this problem. *nm

Dt*: the contact stated the front driver's side tire rubs against the fender on hard turns in either direction which makes the vehicle very difficult to control. during these incidents, there are no vibrations however the vehicle does tilt to the left. a service dealer changed the suspension, but that did not correct the problem.

The clear coat is almost all peeled off my entire car in a matter of months. now the paint underneath is fading in color too. i don't even have my car half way paid off. this is honda's fault. they need to take responsibility and recall the paint. i know people with honda civic's that have this problem with their paint too. it looks bad for honda. do they really want potential customers seeing their vehicles driving around looking like crap? i would not have gotten this car, if i knew it was going to look this bad. it looks awful! i wanted a good car that would last a long time. i loved the car but now the paint looks disgusting. many really old cars look better thank this. seriously honda? you save a little money doing a crappy paint job.. but that's losing you many customers. i will not buy another honda unless you fix this. and i will not recommend a honda to anybody. recall the clear coat peeling! *tr

I noticed the clear coat coming off my honda civic about a year ago, and have been trying to get in contact with honda but the representative only comes every so many months. when i did finally get ahold of him and inform him of the clear coat coming off which even in his words should never happen. i was told since out of warranty they would do nothing even though i i formed him of all the complaints about the clear coat. honda admitting a problem but refusing to do anything for the valued customer.

My wife has a 2006 honda civic that has an issue with the paint. it seems like the hood, roof, and trunk are beginning to oxidize. we have taken the vehicle in to our local dealership and they have paid about 60% of the cost with our out of pocket cost at about $300. no it looks like the other parts of the car that did not get painted are beginning to oxidize again. the doors, front fenders and rear fenders are beginning to oxidize again. the local dealer is going to paint them but our out of pocket cost is around $320 again. this looks like it is happening with many 2006 honda civics and i hope a lawsuit or recall is started so i can get re-imbursed for the costs of having to paint after only 5 years of ownership on a brand new civic.

The paint on the top of the car around the sunroof started to oxidize after 3-4 years of ownership. it is isolated only to the roof of the car so it has to be a manufacture problem. the car is kept in the sun but no other areas of the car has become oxidized. there are plenty of people with paint issues with the 2006 honda civic coupe and this issue should be addressed. if the honda doesn't pay the repair cost, it will cost everyone with the paint issues hundreds of dollars to have it fixed.

We were driving on 2 lane highway at 55 mph. no warning of a pending problem. half of the front bumper came loose from the frame and fell down and struck the pavement, then began bouncing up and down, tearing things up. loud noise like piece of tire flapping in wheel well. we stopped and investigated the damage. could not drive over 35 mph to the next town, some 20 miles away. reached town and bought and used duct tape to hold the fender up off the ground so we could drive home. we then took the car to a local honda dealer. we were told the underneath plastic clips and other components were damaged and that the car must have been run into a curb or something like that. i investigated further, as i knew that the car had never hit a curb. it has, however, made scraping noises when passing over a typical parking lot wheel stop. in my judgment, the damage was cause by the fact that the front of the vehicle does not clear wheel stops, and hitting wheel stops has severely damaged the plastic components under the front end, resulting in the bumper falling off at highway speed. had both sides of the bumper come loose, i would have run over the bumper, probably losing control of the vehicle and becoming involved in a wreck. looking under the vehicle, you can see that both sides have been damaged by scraping over parking lot wheel stops. we were lucky to have survived. i consider this a serious safety hazard because: 1) we could have been killed; 2) parking with your wheels against a wheel stop in a parking lot is a normal practice and is not something one would normally worry about. repairs exceeded $485 at a private collision repair center and would have cost approximately $800 at the dealer. repairs: replaced clips, some plastic components under front end, and repainted bumper. the dealer refused any warranty coverage. *tr

I bought my 2006 honda civic ex coupe brand new in november 2005, problems started to occur shortly afterwards for instance the airbag light had a malfunction and recalled the dealer didn't fix it the first time, very inconvenient, brake pedal was fixed before i bought the vehicle, there was a recall on that as well because could fall off and cause a crash. i have taken it in to honda service to get problems fixed and numerous times, been told that its normal or some other ?!@#$% they always gave me the run around, the service people are rude, mean and incompetent and ignorant. i have taken my 06 civic in a total of 8-10 times now to fix problems they never fix anything! interior trim is poor/poor altering from the factory, panels loose and popping out interior scratches too easily/fragile cheaply made ?!@#$% (still), front drivers seat wont retract all the way back anymore like it used to (new) weather stripping is lifting up by front windshield (still) various rattles from interior (still), undercoating/under body spray from factory is peeling completely off (new) door panel flexes and rpms rise when using windows/now seems to roll up/down slower than before (still/new) keep in mind im only at 11,000 miles too! honda and toyotas quality is going downhill very fast especially with the civic, crv, rdx, mdx, camry, tundra, highlander, landcruiser, yaris, and rav4. the last year before the redesign of these vehicles the quality was great, now it seems like honda and toyota are either teaming up together or competing to see who can make the cheapest and ?!@#$% vehicle with cheaply made materials and taking shortcuts, changed a suppliers or something, these problems are unacceptable for a new vehicle. *tr

2006 honda civic harbors mice in air ducts/heater fan/cabin air filter assy. honda refuses to put screen on input to outside air inlet. mice infested car. i have allergys that cause me to sneeze and have asthma attacks. i believe these attacks lead to dangers while driving. honda says 'mice stuff' is hazardous material but refuses to correct the problem. my dealer 'vacuumed up 'mice stuff'. however according to government guidlines vacuuming 'mice stuff' can cause more harm than good. should be disinfected.

I purchased a 2006 civic ex in december of 2005. within 3 months, the right driver side a/c vent started to rattle as well as around both driver side and passenger seat belt adjusters. i took the vehicle to the dealership who replaced the vent but could not located the noise by the seat belt adjusters. at this time, they also found that the power steering fluid had been leaking and repaired this was well. at my next schedule oil change, i complained about the a/c vent rattling more than before the and the rattling around the seat belt height adjusters had increased. they installed a new a/c vent for the second time. they also were able to determine after taking off the panel where the seat belt adjusters are located, that it was poorly insulated and added felt tape. the new a/c vent is more sturdy than the original and first replacement so it no longer rattles. the felt tape insulation has also stopped the seat belt adjuster from rattling. however in the last few weeks i have additional rattling which i have located to inside of ceiling directly behind the moon roof. *jb

I have a 2006 honda civic si. the trunk does not have a key entry to it and the wireless entry system was not working to open the trunk. additionally, i was able to gain access to the trunk by removing the backseat and attempted to pull the emergency trunk release and the trunk will still not open. there has not been an accident nor any event which would have cause the trunk to not open. i went to a honda dealer and they said that the latch was broken and that it would cost a total of $400 to fix. my concern is that if a child or someone accidentally gets locked in the trunk, there is no way that they would be able to get out unless the trunk is cut into. this defect seems like a safety issue and from reading online, it appears that this has happened to multiple honda civic si's. the other difference with this model is that the civic si does not have a key entry to the trunk so there is no manual override (minus the emergency manual override which does not work). *tr

According to searches done via the internet and with issues with my 2006 honda civic ex sedan model i have noticed a staggering amount of complaints to the 2006 and newer model civics with vibrations issues and constant replacement of tires for the rear of the vehicle. i have had to replace my tires about 5 times since i have had my car and it has always been the rear tires on my vehicle and 2 times in the past 6 months due to un-even tire wear on the inside of the tires caused by the rear chamber arm. currently there is no recall for this issue but have noticed quite a number pf people throughout the us with this problem on the vehicle. the outcome of this issue could cause a tire to blow out while driving on the highway and potentially causing great harm to the passengers of the affected vehicle as well as other drivers on the road. if you need to the web links with all the other complaints for this issue feel free to contact me . *tr
