Car has had several incidents of the third gear popping out or grinding while engaging. it is a 2006 honda civic si. contacted dealer about the issue and even though there is a technical service bulletin out from honda saying it is a known issue, they wanted $1,500 dollars to repair it. this needs to be recalled as it is a danger while driving to have your car not properly engage the gears and a quick internet search tells me there are thousands more with the same issue as me. this problem is not only an immediate issue while driving but will lead to faster clutch wear which could put the timing of repairs off of a normal schedule and a clutch failure while driving could be fatal.

At around 35mph the vehicle suddenly started to make a metallic-type noise and the vehicle shut down immediately. if it would've happened 5 seconds later it would've occurred right as i was about to make a left turn, it would've most likely caused a severe accident and possibly a fatality. when i took the car to where the vehicle was purchased from they told me a bolt was torn lose from the tensioner. this caused all belts to break down and the engine to shutdown while running at around 35mphs. furthermore, the bolt flew into the engine block costing costly repairs. the company, honda refused to pay for the damage caused by this defect and told me to take it with my extended warrant provider. they claim it's wear and tear but that is not the case as previous recalls for the same problem were issued for my vehicle but according to them not my particular vin. bolts shouldnt tear off at 29,000 miles or six years.

I have a 2006 honda civic si. the trunk does not have a key entry to it and the wireless entry system was not working to open the trunk. additionally, i was able to gain access to the trunk by removing the backseat and attempted to pull the emergency trunk release and the trunk will still not open. there has not been an accident nor any event which would have cause the trunk to not open. i went to a honda dealer and they said that the latch was broken and that it would cost a total of $400 to fix. my concern is that if a child or someone accidentally gets locked in the trunk, there is no way that they would be able to get out unless the trunk is cut into. this defect seems like a safety issue and from reading online, it appears that this has happened to multiple honda civic si's. the other difference with this model is that the civic si does not have a key entry to the trunk so there is no manual override (minus the emergency manual override which does not work).

The paint on my 2006 honda civic is horrible and defective. honda has had so many issues posted online regarding this in this model and make of car. please look into this as it is a driving distraction. they really need to recall this issue and address the customer service aspect of this problem.

The rpm down to 0 while stopped at a red light. tried restarting the car, the rpm would go up for a few seconds while a lot of metallic noise of loose parts flying around under the hood. took it to two mechanics, turned out the drive belt tensioner bolt snapped in half, half went into the block.

The transmission has a rattling noise. little apple toyota honda told me that i would need to replace the entire transmission. i purchased the car from little apple a little over a year ago. i also purchased an extended warranty for two years. this repair will not be covered because they said that i have exceeded the mileage.

A couple months back i took my car to the honda dealer to fix my a/c. so when my a/c was not throwing any cold air out again this week i took it back to honda and they told me my condenser had a whole in it probably from a pebble. there is nothing covering that area on the car so after i pay almost $700 it can possibly happen again. there is no warranty for this. i feel it is a defect of the way the car was built. i feel honda should fix this problem. or atleast reimburse the customers.

The drivers side sun visor broke. it can be snapped back into place, but while it's broken, it decreases visibility and it takes two hands to snap it back up. this has happened repeatedly now.

Sun visor in 2006 honda civic broke. it split causing it to not function correctly. it just hangs in front of driver's face blocking vision of the road, which is a safety hazard. the visor was never used much and never used forcefully to cause it to break in this way.

I purchased the car in august 2010. per the honda service bulletin issued feb 2008 (which i was unaware of til the problem), i have had a mechanic confirm my complaints/problem--uneven/rapid rear tire wear, a very loud roaring noise from the rear, and vibration at highway speed--meaning i have a faulty rear upper control arm kit. i have called honda and they said since it's not a recall they will not replace this. their service bulletin clearly states i need a new rear upper control arm kit, replace the flange bolts too, which also means alignment with purchase of new tires.

My honda has been well taken care of. i have hand waxed it twice a year since i purchased it new in 2006. this past year, the paint on the roof and trunk began to peel off. the car now looks like its 20 years old and honda refuses to do anything about it. both visors on the car have broken 3 times, the trunk latch broke ruining 100.00 worth of groceries and the tires continuously warp due to a defect in the year model. now, after replacing the battery i cannot get the alarm system to stop sounding. this year model civic is such a lemon.

I purchased a used(2nd owner) 2006 honda civic in june 2010 with approx 60,000km. with a full inspection serviced by honda and a brand new set of tires(98% tread). since then i have only put on 25,000km and have already taking my car into the shop on 3 different occassions for severve cupping or uneven wear on the rear tires, after 25,000km i have already purchased another set of tires and those ones too are badly cupping. 2 sets of new tires in under 2 years is not right! i have contacted honda and they said they haven't heard of problems with hondas doing that and said that since i had my tires bought and serviced at a tire store, it is their concern! they are not owning up or even regonizing the obvious defect that this car has.they offered to fix the issue for an amout of $900? are you kidding me? this is not a maintence issue or a part replacement it is a defect!!!! i should not have to pay for this, i should definately not have to pay for new tire every year either. i have read on www.carcomplaints.com 48 different complaints about the exact same issue i am having with my 06 honda civic. this is a dangerous issue and needs to be addressed. why is this not a recall??? i am so upset with honda, i will never buy their lemon products again.

My 2006 honda civic is eating through rear tires. the tires thread on the inside is wearing out. the alignment has been checked and reading through the blogs, a lot of people are having the same problem. i don't know what else to do. i don't feel safe in the car. the dealership (honda) is not recognizing this problem.

I was driving about 25mph on a residential street when i smelled rubber burning and then my car suddenly stopped working. we had it towed to a trusted friend's shop to see what the problem was and then to fix it. we found that the tensioner bolt was broken. our mechanic has done lots of research on this problem and have found that other owners of 2006 honda civics are also having the same problem. he is in the process of trying to replace this bolt. i only have 75,000 miles on this honda and am very disappointed with this fairly new car. i hope it can be fixed.

The driver side visor split. it will not stay in position. due to this, i have no visual protection from the sun when i drive. it is hazardous.

According to the federal motor vehicle safety standards, standard 208 section 4.5.1(c), sun visors must have air bag warning labels. honda currently provides these warnings on the sun visors. however, if the sun visor breaks, then i would be forced to remove the sun visor in order to operate the vehicle safely. once outside the warranty period, the vehicle would no longer be operated in compliance with federal regulations. honda is currently being sued in cooper, et al. v. american honda motor co., inc., case no. bc 448670 because of the sun visor breaking on a regular basis. by settling the case, they are essentially admitting the sun visor is prone to breaking. i do not believe a car owner should pay to replace a requirement for federal standards.

Sun visors on 2006 honda civic fail and need to be replaced repeatedly due to them not staying in the up position.

Brought my 2006 honda civic in for oil change and tire rotation and three times were told that they were wearing evenly and didn't need to rotate brought it some where else and was told that the tires were cupping on the inside and was told i needed a wheel alignment the mechanic wouldn't rotate because the cupping was so severe on the rear tires then i took it back to honda and was told i needed updated control arms needless to say if they would have cracked in half i could have tires flyng off my car . i can not believe there is no recall on this item it can be very serious and honda isn't picking up any of the cost i drive very far every day and now i am not sure howi feel about it with this car and don't feel i should have to worry about it or pay for hondas mistakes

I own a 2006 honda civic. i purchased it new and have been satisfied with the vehicle with one exception. the rear tires wear unevenly (flat spots) causing a roaring sound that is very annoying. also, during high speed (45 - 70 mph) the vehicle vibrates as if the wheels were out of balance. this could present a safety hazard. when i first experienced this problem i thought that it may have been my fault for not rotating the tires as recommended in the owners manual. however, i have since discovered that rotating the tires and having the wheels balanced does absolutely nothing to correct the problem. during my research of the problem on the nhtsa website i found that there are many other civic owners that are experiencing the same problem. during the past 5 years i have asked numerous civic owners if they were experiencing similar problems with their vehicle. nearly every one that i asked did in fact have the same problem with their vehicle.

Sun visors have malfunctioned. i am unable to lift the visors back to the up position. i fear that this will cause an accident. there have been people who have entered the vehicle and it there head because the visor is stuck in the down position.

My 2006 honda civic driver side sun visor is broken and defective. honda has issued a technical service bulletin but no recall. the drivers side sun visor can not be adjusted and hangs down in the way or view and i can not see the road to drive safely. honda has refused to fix this under goodwill assistance and my cars warranty has just expired. many other consumers have this same issue and honda is not addressing it. daily use to block the sun in your eyes when you are driving is the events leading to the failure. the consequences is that i can not see to drive safely. either sun in my eyes or sun visor blocking view of road. the visor can not be adjusted, it is broken, it just hangs down in the line of sight. to date my local honda dealer in el paso tx has refused to replace the defective part thus i am working with american honda for their support to replace this defective part free of charge.

I took the car to a honda dealership because the back tires were wearing out prematurely on the inside. they replaced the upper control arms with the supposedly correct control arms marked c and did an alignment, but that did not solve the problem! i just bought a full set of new tires in july of 2010 and my car was aligned and i am about to need new tires again! in addition, the driver's visor fell off and was replaced. however, both visors fell off the second time, and are now held on with zip ties. there is a design flaw in the visor as well.

The window visor on my 2006 civic si has melted twice now and it posses a driving hazard. this is due to the fact that after the inside plastic is hit by direct sunlight the actual plastic clips melt and that causes the visor to suddenly flip down right into your line of vision.

The sun visor in my 2006 honda civic lx has broken twice now, where the visor will hang down in my line of sight. i am unable to secure it up or down. both incidents occurred in the warm weather months when the car is very hot. first incident occurred within the warranty, ~20k miles and fixed by the dealer. second incident began around 70k miles and worsened until the visor has completely broken. i have not fixed the visor this time, and feel that it is ridiculous to pay a dealer to fix a part which is clearly a manufacturer's defect.

I experienced an acceleration problem on 2 occasion which prompted me to go online. here i discovered that other people had experienced this issue and that there was a recall for honda civic 2 door models. what i want to know is why wasn't i contacted that there was a recall/national problem with cars like mine. both incidents of lunging/jerking and being hard to stop the car happened (1st time: early july/ 2nd time late july). i told my dad the beginning of november in a conversation and he said to make an appointment immediately because it sounded like the toyota acceleration type problem.

The visors in the car have a metal rotating piece in between two plastic pieces that cause the visor to snap after minimal use. my driver's side visor is now completely broken, as has happened to my friend's exact same car too.

Sun visor started to split open two years ago at only 30,000 miles, problem has been getting worse, and now it is at the point where it just dangles in front of the eyes and won't even stay put. i have to move it to the side everytime i'm driving. apparently, it is not covered under warranty, so i'll have to pay from my pocket to get it fixed.

The sun visors on my 2006 honda civic ex have been breaking routinely about once a year. i have taken the car to the honda dealer for repair and they simply replace the broken visor. however, they have not redesigned the faulty visor design and they will continue breaking. this is a safety concern, as the visors break and hang off blocking the drivers ability to clearly see the road.

2006 honda civic coupe - driver side sun visor split and falls down to block view while driving and hit my head getting out of the car. seem to be a lot of complaint on the internet about the same thing. i have an extended warrant, but was told it didn't cover these type of parts.

 1. car was parked outside. sun visor broke after trying to adjust it. 2. sun visor is unusable and hangs from the roof. 3. only repair available is to replace the sun visor at a honda dealer.

I want to report a cracked sun visor on my 2006 honda civic lx, which causes the visor to hang and is now obstructing my view, creating a safety hazard. this appears to be a widespread problem on honda civics, judging by all the online comments to be found, for instance, here: http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/civic/2006/accessories-interior/sun_visor_falls_apart.shtml, and here: http://www.civicforums.com/forums/181-8th-gen-honda-civic/296797-sun-visor-split-open.html.

Air conditioner blows only hot air after driving on the freeway. took the vehicle to dealer for inspection. culprit was found to be a leaking suction line, probably punctured by road debris during drive. the location of the suction line is in front of the radiator, which is not protected by a mesh grill. due to its location, suction line is easily damageable. honda should provide free replacement because this is fundamental design fault. the dealer fixed this issue by replacing the fragile copper suction line with a heavy duty rubber tube and redirected it behind the bumper instead of in front of the radiator.

Honda civic 2006. drivers side sunvisor fails to close, and in the failure, pops open restricting the drivers view of the road. it seems the plastic weld has popped open. honda is aware of the defect (for years) and does not care to redesign or correct the problem.

The sun visors in my 2006 honda civic is made of plastic, and the plastic softens/melts to the point where the sun visors cannot be placed back into their original position nor do they stay put in the down position. this blocks a portion of the normal view of the road and can be a hazard. it is a terrible design that honda needs to fix. i originally had honda replace it as part of the warranty but have not gotten it replaced after the warranty ran out since it will continue to fail at least annually. it's sad to see that it is 4 years later, and they still have not figured out not to put those into that car. if i buy another car from honda and it has a plastic sun visor, i will not buy it. it is a deal breaker b/c it is such a nuisance and is a perfect example of a company not learning and implementing their own lessons learned.

2006 honda civic visor broke, driver side

Thousands of late model honda civic owners, including my wife's honda have been having chronic sun visor breakage problems. when it breaks unexpectedly, it blocks the driver's view creating a very unsafe condition. honda refuses to acknowledge this issue and instead still sells the faulty part as replacement. some drivers have replaced 2 visors every year. check this link of complaints: http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/civic/2006/accessories-interior/sun_visor_falls_apart.shtml honda won't recall these faulty parts saying it's not a safety issue. but toyota didn't think floormats were a safety issue either and look what resulted! call honda at: 800 999 1009 and see for yourself. this is a serious safety issue! want to help? thanks, mike konopka

The recent recall of honda odyssey and element models made me remember two things about the 2006 honda civic that i owned. i experienced the same braking issue on it- i would have to hold the brake pedal down pretty forcefully in order to make sure it wouldn't creep forward while stopped. it was an automatic transmission, and if stopped on an incline on a hill (at a red light or stop sign), when the brakes were released the car would move backward significantly. this didn't happen on a steep hill- i have driven several other cars on this same hill and never had a problem. it was so significant that i would have to prepare myself to accelerate immediately and with relative force to prevent the car from rolling backwards.

I have a honda civic 2006 (lease) this car has 2 recall one on 8/30/07 and on 11/07 but the dealer never sent me any warning, note, letter or call to notify this situation, i read that by fed law they should contact me and let me know the ricks that this issue can cause me. i called because i had a problem with my car keys code and they told about this and they said sorry because they do not know why i was not notify about this i very disappointed because that is very dangerous and i do not get notify at all, i had 3 cars with the honda all 3 are lease cars so it is not excuse that they cannot contact me also i am living t the same place for more than one year and i got my honda bill every month. *tr
