The sides that hold both driver and passenger sun visors are cracked. they have not fallen down yet. it's been like this for so long, i thought it was normal. it wasn't until i received a notice about a settlement that i realized it's not normal. will try to contact the local dealer to see how much it will cost to get both visors fixed. with all the complaints about these visors, it seems like honda should've just recalled and fixed them.

Since we bought the car new we have replaced a total of 7 sun visors. especially during the summer, the warm weather causes the seam to fail and the visor split at the shaft. our eighth one has failed. the result is that the visor hangs down and will not return up out of the way. this is a common problem per our dealer. there needs to be engineering of the product. i have had no problems with my 08 rav4. a search of the internet will result in a history of complaints.

 1. not sure of any event that led to failiure 2. driver's side sun visor will not stay in the flipped up position - the visor has a split in the center - i.e. the center has expanded - so this split precludes it from staying in the flipped up position. 3 3 have not yet replaced, but must replace as it is a visbility safety hazard
06/15/200720000
8th generation civics exposed to hot weather may experience failure to their visors. this causes the loss of integrity in components of the visors, preventing them from staying up. this is a safety issue as the visor is either in the way of the driver or won't stay in a fixed position when pushed to the side.

2006 honda civic sun visors broken (again). this is the fourth time my 2006 honda civic sun visors have broken. the first two times it was replaced under warranty within the first three years of owning the car. the third time the car was 500 miles out of warranty but they said they would replace it that one last time. now it is broken again! if you google honda civic sun visor you will find thousands of people with this problem. the sun visor splits in half and can no longer be put up (stored position). when the plastic frame of the visor splits, the visor hangs straight down blocking your vision when driving. because of this, my vision is constantly blocked and i find myself bending down while driving to see if traffic lights are green or red. it can also block my view of a pedestrian stepping off of the curb into the crosswalk. this is a major safety hazard and honda doesn't want to replace these after the warranty is up although they have a tsb on it. in addition to my view of the road being blocked by this plastic framed sun visor, i'm also afraid if i was in an accident, my face or a passengers could hit the sun visor and the visor could cause major facial trauma.

I own a 2006 honda civic, and i'm sure you already know what i'm about to complain about... the visors! they are no good! in the 5 yrs i've had this car, i've had to replace them about 4 times already. luckily 2 times i didn't pay anything since they were under warranty. unfortunately now i own the car, and it's becoming really annoying. the design on these visors is rediculous! when it's hot outside, i have to remember not to use them or else once i pull them down it cracks open at the hinge and breaks. this is quite costly especially since this is a recurring problem with this design. it's not only expensive for the vehicle owners, but also a hazard to drivers. when the visor breaks and can't be pulled back up, it blocks the driver's vision. you can't see the signal lights unless you hold the visor up with one hand while you drive. this should have been recalled a long time ago. i mention it to the dealer every time, but they don't take the intiative to do anything about it. they're probably happy since is brings in a constant revenue for them from all the civic owners that have the same problem every year. please help!

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 honda civic. the contact stated that the driver and passenger side sun visors were fractured and obstructing her view of the road. the sun visor was hanging down and she would have to hold it and drive at the same time. the dealer made eight attempts to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer did not offer any assistance. the current mileages were 38,000 and the failure mileages were unknown. bw

I have a 2006 honda civic and the visors are broken and hang down. it will not stay up and blocks my vision for street lights, signs etc. i cannot adjust it to keep the sun out of my eyes for certain angles. the honda dealership will not replace. they want a charge of $75.00 per visor. they are thousands of complaints and they just keep breaking. something must be done to fix this problem.

Honda civic 2006 driver side sun visor falls apart in the heat and blocks drivers vision.
03/01/200824000
The sun visors in my civic have a honda-acknowledged defect where after some time the mechanism breaks, causing it to stay down, blocking the driver view and creating an unsafe condition. the dealer told me this is common in warmer climates and i have had to replace them at least twice, with another repair on the horizon (the problem starts with a popping noise when putting back towards the roof). the dealer has replaced them for free the first few times, but the next one will apparently cost $20 for the labor while the visors themselves are free. the dealer states they will only continue to repair this design flaw until 75,000 miles are reached on the car.

2006 honda civic has flip visor issues. i've replaced mine multiple times and it continues to break. it's a safety issue because it constantly drops and gets in the way of my visibility of the road.

The driver's side visor in my 2006 honda civic cracked open on its top seam which prevented the visor from staying in the up position. at first i did not think it would be a big deal but i soon realized that it really did interfere with my line of sight. consequently, i had the visor replaced. 15 months after having the visor replaced it has now cracked again. once again the visor will not stay in its upright position and it interferes with my line of sight.
08/01/2010120000
The sun visors in my 2006 honda civic are defective. i have had the visors replaced once already and just one year later, the sun visor cracked open from heat exposure again. the sun visors are obstructing both the driver's and passenger's view and pose a safety hazard. i had to apply force to keep the visors closed and when there is too much sun light, the visors are useless in blocking the sun. honda needs to recall this part and replace them with a part that is not defective.
12/01/201043000
The sun visors on my 2006 honda civic have failed and just hang down. this is fsirly dangerous since the hanging driver-side mirror interfears with the driver's view of traffic. the dealer says, because my car has over 36,000 miles (it has 43,000) it is no longer covered by warranty and there is no applicable recall issued by honda.
11/02/201055000
The sun visor on my passenger side cracked and just hangs. it will not fold in the upright position. it is dangling and blocking my field of vision. i have researched this issue and honda does not think this is a safety concern, yet thousands of customers have experience more than 1 visor splitting on them.

I am putting in a complaint about my 2006 honda civic sun visor it is cheaply made and the heat melts the plastic so it starts to wear on the spine of the visor it falls down in my face, i had to hold it up while driving, i feel as though i am as distracted while fiddling with it so its out of my way while driving is as distracting as being on cell phone, so i took it off, and i live in a sunny state and because i dont have the $70.00 to replace it, i have to hold my hand above my eyes to block the sun which is also very distracting. i called honda and complained they said it is not a safety issue so it will not be recalled but they will replace it at one of the local honda dealers and that the price can range from $70.00 to $100.00.. which i dont have the money for currently, and either way i feel like it was a flaw in their design and i shouldn't have to replace my sun visor every summer when its too hot and decides to fall off! that is $70.00 to $100.00 per sun visor every summer.. that adds up. i love honda and it seemed like they were doing so well, they always did right by me, but now this 06 honda civic is cheaply made and wont surprise me if it doesn't last as long as my old 95 honda civic.

2007 honda civic. drivers side sun visor has cracked. won't stay closed (retracted against the ceiling). falls down in front of view frequently. this is a common problem with these cars since 2006 when the sun visor design was modified to its current design. should be considered a severe safety issue. solutions include: 1) removing the sun visor; not safe. 2) ignoring the problem; when sun visor falls down in front of eyes it's not safe. 3) replacing the sun visor; honda refuses to provide a free replacement even though there is good documentation on the nature of the problem and duration of the problem. see also: http://actionallen.blogspot.com/2010/06/honda-civic-sun-visors-not-so-good.html

2006 honda civic - sunvisor fell apart drivers side sunvisor fell apart and obstructed view while vehicle was in motion. performed research and found that this is a common occurance. honda needs a redesigned sunvisor as this is a safety hazard. i.e. view obstructed while travling in traffic.

This is a 2006 honda civic .plastic shrouding around mouting section of sun visor is unnecessarily cheap and will not withstand interior summer temperatures. eventually, the visor warps and will not remain in an upright position. the visor obstructs the driver's vison and is a potentially serious safety issue!

Own a 2006 honda civic ex. the driver's side sun visor has split under the heat of the sun and no longer stays in the upright position. it flops down and is not only distracting, but can cause the driver (especially taller individuals) to not see traffic lights. i understand that many other owners of this honda have the same problem. honda needs to recall this vehicle and replace the existing visors with better designed ones.

Entered parked car and while preparing to begin driving, the driver side sun visor unexpectedly failed, hanging down obstructing driver's view. while an attempt to reposition the sun visor was made, the visor would not keep the position and would return to the hanging down position, making safe driving impossible. another attempt to reposition the visor, this time sqeezing the split plastic together, at the hinge, suceeded placing the visor out of the way. the visor has not been repositioned since. i have researched reports and even after replacement of the visor, the problem returns, often much less than a year later. it seems the failure is more a function of heat exposure, than time. in my case, the heat is not an issue. i drive the car back and forth to work only, and the outside temperature is usually 60 to 70 deg. f.

Sun visors in 2006 honda civics are no good. we bought the car new and are averaging 1 sun visor per year. in four years now the driver side has been replaced twice as well as the passenger side. now, the vehicle is out of warranty and they do not want to replace it. this is obviously an ongoing problem and honda is or has done nothing the better these visors. it makes no sense for me to pay for the same product knowing that it will do same thing again. honda needs to come up with a better design and recall these vehicle's before one falls down in someone's face and there is a serious accident.

Sun visors on 2006 honda civic fail when they get hot and start to come apart. eventually the visor is no longer able to stay up in either the full forward or full rear position and just dangles in the top half of the driver's field of view. this happened last summer on both visors and just happened again on the driver's side. honda replaced the first set under warranty, but they replaced them with the visors of identical design.

Both sun visors on 2006 honda civic have broken. the driver's side broke at ~59,000, fixed and broke again at 82,000. the driver's side visor is currently hanging in the line of sight and ready to fall off. it split apart at the top seam. both visors do not sit in the closed position properly which causes them to constantly be in the driver's line of sight when driving. visors remain in the open position - unable to close when not needed which impairs driving vision. recall????

While driving onthe interstate the driver side sun visor broke off and hit my arm. it scared me and i swerved off of the road nearly causing an accident. after researching the internet trying to find a replacement, i discovered that there have been hundreds of people affected by this manufacturing problem in the 2006 honda civics. honda is aware of the situation and is refusing to take responsibility for the repair unless still covered under the warranty. they have advised me that they will split the cost of part and labor but will not consider anything this else. this could have caused my or my children or others on the road at the time our life. i hope that others have not had to experience something more tha i have. this should be a recall and they should take full responsiblity for the error in manufacturing. i was unable to repair immediately due to a crisis in my family. please check the internet for the many complaints and problems that people have been having. people have repaired their sun visors multple times and continue to have them break . this could become vary hazardous and should be corrected. *tr

I have a 2006 honda civc coupe. at 12,000 miles both sun visors split apart within two weeks of each other. i contacted the honda dealership i purchased it from and they scheduled me for replacements at no charge. by 16,000 miles, both sun visors broke again and the honda dealership replaced them! luckily, winter came and they lasted until the next summer. at round 29,000 miles they broke again and were replaced once again, under warranty. at 36,500 miles (500 miles after the warranty ran out and longer than the 6 months part warranty) they broke again! now the honda dealership will not replace them without charging me between $200 and $320, depending on which dealership i called. talk about a rip off and a piece of crap! i thought honda made quality??? i called the number listed in the back of the car owner's manual to complain and the attendant agreed that there had been numerous complaints but that there is no recall and i would have to pay! whatever! why would i pay that much for something that is going to break again because of a faulty (crappy) design and/or manufacturing? c'mon honda...get with the program. the visors hang down, imparing my visibility which could easily lead to a wreck! that was 2 years ago. i just took them down and now have no sun visors. why has this problem not been addressed? shame on honda. with all the problems with toyota looks like honda would get on the ball and do something already!

Both driver and passenger side sun visors have broken on my 2006 honda civic. the driver side visor broke once before in 2008 and i had it fixed. it broke again in 2009 and in may 2010 the passenger side sun visor broke. it makes it difficult to get a clear view of the highway when driving and when it becomes necessary to move it to the side it creates a dangerous situation while driving.

My 2006 honda civic ex sedan has had many problems with both sun visors since i bought the vehicle. the visors have both melted and broke which cause them to hang down in view and will not go in the up position. while driving down the 4-lane the visor on my side fell in my view, in shock i tried to stop the car since i could not see and was rear ended and rolled into a barrier. the visor now wont go up at all and is about to break off. *tr

My car has a large problem with its windshield wipers, when i crank the car they come on and sometimes don't turn off, and most of the time when they do turn off they will stop in the middle of the window, causing me to loose all site of the road and being distracted trying to get them to go down, and wearing out my wiper blades with the very numerous times i have to turn them on before they will stop in the correct rest position. this problem has cause me to go off the road and almost get in many accidents with the lack of vision, and inability to concentrate on the road. *tr

Both driver side and passenger side sunvisors will not operate correctly. due to the design, the visors will come apart and you cannot position them safely. while the vehicle was under the typical 30,000 mile / 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, the dealership had replaced approximately 10 sets due to them coming apart. now that i am out of the 3-year warranty period, honda refuses to replace the sunvisors. *tr

I leased a new 2006 honda civic, 2-door coupe in april 2006. twice while my car was still under the mileage warranty, the driver's side sun visor (part #88380-sna-a01za, h/c 8073496) failed. failure in this case means the unit split apart at the seam connected to the arm that holds it to the headliner. the only way to fix the problem is to replace the visor. each time the visor was replaced it lasted approximately a year before failing again. each part replacement was identical to the original equipment. the most recent failure occurred just after the car went out of the 3-year warranty, and before the 36,000 mile expired. i held off replacing it because i knew i would have to pay for it. recently, i narrowly averted an accident caused by my defective visor. it would not stay up against the roof, flopping down 100% of the time, which caused me to miss seeing a traffic light and to enter an intersection after a traffic signal turned red. luckily, the driver crossing from my right was able to see me and to come to a stop in time. but i knew i could not delay replacing the visor. a new visor cost me close to $70. there was no aftermarket product available and i did not have the right tools to install a new visor myself. i went online and found several blogs: www.usrecallnews.com and www.civicforums.com and www.honda-tech.com, filled with complaints from other honda owners having identical problems. all reported the same thing: honda will not fix them free of charge after the warranty. and there has been no redesign of the part. this is an expensive item to have to replace once a year (on average), and it is very dangerous to operate the vehicle with a defective visor. it drops down and fully obstructs vision in the upper half of the windshield. surely this fact, backed up by my own experience and that of others, constitutes reason for a safety recall. by the way, i now own the car which is a good vehicle in other respects. please advise. *tr

Drivers side visor will not stay up. if i need it to stay up i have to hold it up while i drive. when i looked on autobeef.com i found 40+ complaints about this same issue. from the information i found on that site, even if i have it fixed it will be replaced with another faulty part and will have to be replaced repeatedly. at present my car has less than 40,000 miles on it. *tr

2006 honda civic si driver side sun visor broke at about 40,000 miles. this is now a hazard because i cannot block direct sunlight, or it hangs down too low that it impairs my vision. honda wants $61 for the part alone. i have found numerous complaints about the sunvisors on the internet, they seem to need replacing typically every two years. *tr

This is a recurring problem for owners of 2006 honda civics. the problem affects visibility while operating a vehicle and poses a potential significant safety hazard. the sun visors on 2006 honda civics crack at the hinge and the visor is then inoperable and cannot be returned to its original position. this results in an obstruction of clear view out of the windshield and happens repeatedly while driving. my dealer, ron tonkin honda, portland, oregon, is willing to replace the visor this time. however, they notified me that this is a recurring problem and honda has not yet recalled or changed the design so that it may occur again. i include a link to a website in which many other civic owners have complained about the same defective sun visors: http://www.carcomplaints.com/honda/civic/2006/accessories-interior/sun_visor_falls_apart.shtml. i feel that this is an item that definitely needs to be recalled and replaced with a new design. thank you. *tr

When temperatures rise inside of the car, the plastic mechanisms holding the visor onto the metal arm, breaks and renders the visor useless. the visors then hang straight down at all times, making vision while driving extremely difficult. i have had them both replaced on 4 separate occasions, at the same dealer. the only repair made, was placement of a new visor. (which will then will break once the inside of the vehicle is hot enough.) (again.) *tr

Drivers side and passenger side sunvisors both exploded on 06' honda civic after warranty expired. have found this to be a very common problem with civics. very valid safety complaint as you cannot see with the visor hanging in your sightline as well as it has no effect on the sun!!! *tr

2006 honda civic sedan sun visor defective and is dangling due to 2-part design. this is a distraction to the driver. events leading up to failure are negligible. i have had this car for 3 years and hardly use the sun visor, except to hold up a sun screen for when the car is parked. i have not yet had the chance to fix this issue. *tr

The driver side sun visor has completely split apart not allowing it to close. it hangs down in front of my line of vision and will not stay back up. it obstructs my view when i try to drive and especially makes it difficult to see at night. my boyfriend cannot even drive my car because he can't see below the visor. the visor started to crack slightly when my car passed its 36k mile warranty, but every summer it has cracked further and further where it's now to the point that the sun visor won't stay up for a second. i called the national honda customer service number and they said that the dealerships need to diagnose the problem before they can do anything to address the situation. however, the dealerships won't diagnose the problem unless there is paid a diagnosis fee (and even at that point there is no guarantee that national honda will correct the issue). this is a serious safety hazard that completely obstructs a driver's line of vision and especially impairs night time driving. *tr

2006 honda civic lx - driver's side sun visor has failed twice. i'm 6' and with the visor falling down completely blocks my view of the road preventing safe driving. my wife is 5'-4 and needs the visor to protect from sun glare. honda replaced the first one under warranty, however the car is now out of warranty and the part has failed again in less than a year with the same problem. evidently the heat is causing the glue to fail and the visor to split open. from researching on the internet, this is evidently a very common recurring problem and needs to be addressed.... i would hate to have an accident and possibly hurt someone or hurt myself because of not being able to see the road. *tr

2006 honda civic ex 4drsd driver's side sunvisor became inoperable due to sun/heat falling down and suddenly obscuring driver's vision while in motion. was told by dealer that honda will not cover cost after warranty expires that including extended warranty. the visor is made from plastic with plastic internal parts. when subjected to prolong heat/sunlight the visor pops/cracks and becomes defective. there are numerous cases/complaints lodged with honda but the company refuses to except responsibility for this parts defect. the part to replace is about 60 plus dollars w/o labor and are not guaranteed if the same problems occur down the road. *tr

I am an owner of a 2006 honda civic ex coupe. since the purchased, i have noticed a constant clicking coming from the sun visor. just recently, the driver side visor cracked and is now permanently hanging down in my field of vision. it does not fold back up and is becoming a distraction while i am driving. i have also had the plastic particles from the crack fly into my eyes when i had the window down. i've read over 200 complaints online and everyone seems to have similar problems. unlike many owners who had to have their visors replaced several times, i am fortunate to say that this will be my first. i finally brought my car in today to have it replaced but only to find out that it is no longer covered under my warranty. i was told it would cost $70 to have it replaced. this has certainly become a safety problem given that the broken visor is hanging down and blocking half of my windshield when there is no sun and when there is sun, it is not properly blocking it. *tr

Driving in rain, windshield wipers on intermittent, and they started running full - not intermittant. moved wiper switch to full, and back to intermittent, without any change. moved wiper switch to fast, and back to full and intermittent, and still no change. turned wipers off, but they kept running while switch was in the off position. pulled off highway. moved switch postion back and forth and then back to off. wipers still kept running. turned off car, wipers stopped. waited a few minutes, started car, wipers started up even though switch still in off position. wipers swept twice, and then froze in the full up position. turned off car again. restarted car, was able to get wipers to run intermittent again, but kept them that way for remainder of ride home. was afraid to change switch position again for fear of complete failure and being stranded far from home in the rain with no wipers. after research, i now see that there is a honda tsb 07-071 dated nov 22, 2007 for this issue that supersedes another from oct 19, 2007. *tr

The sun visor is split and will not stay in the up position and hangs down and can not be adjusted. it blocks vision for safe driving and has to be moved to the side which blocks peripheral vision. it also can't be used to block the sun coming in the window at certain angels. it has been broken for awhile but it is not easy to get in to the dealer with my work schedule. i am within the 3 year warranty but over the 36k miles because i drive quite a distance each day. my concern is paying to replace the sun visor and the many reports i have read that people have had to replace many times since the design/materials are flawed. this is an unsafe feature of the car and i hope that honda would recall them. *tr

My 2006 honda civic ex's sun visor broke... on both visors. the components inside the visor seemed like it got melted and the visor keeps falling down (wouldn't hold up). it got to a point where it would just drop and hinder my vision while driving. very dangerous. honda replaced it since i was still under warranty back then. same problem with a friend's 2006 honda civic and she had her's replaced 3 times. this is too much frustration. honda should recall these sun visor and replaced with better quality. right now (2009), i'm afraid to use my civic's sun visor coz i can see/feel the sun visor beginning to break down again (the plastic visor is begging to open up at the side everytime i move it up/down). and i'm outside my warranty already. this is a known problem on honda civic and there is no news of what honda is doing about it. these sun visors should be recalled and replaced!!!!! *tr

Driver's side sun-visor on 2006 honda civic is not usable. when pulled down to block the sun, the visor pulls apart. when trying to return the visor to the upright position, the visor gets stuck blocking the drivers view of the road. seems to be something wrong with the glue because this only happens when the vehicle is parked in the sun, but occurs even if it is as cold as 30 degrees outside. *tr

My 2006 civic lx coupe has had problems with the windshield visors. i place a windshield shade daily when i park my car at work and use the visor to hold the shade in place. i've been having problems with the visor not being able to stay up because the plastic part that surrounds the rod splits open and the visor will not stay in the up position. a co-worker has a 2007 civic and has had the same problem. the dealer replaced his visors and they told him that there was a bulletin on this issue. my civic has 39000 miles and so i've passed the 36000 mile warranty limit. the dealer said that my warranty period is over since i was over 36000 miles. i have read that there have been a few complaints about this visor problem and i feel that this can cause a visibility problem. i understand that the warranty is over, but the visor has nothing to do with mileage. *tr

Sun visor on my 2006 honda civic has cracked open and just hangs there impairing my vision of the road. this is the second time this happens, the first time was about a year ago and now it has happened again. i called honda and they said they can't do anything about it. i am out of warranty and have to pay out of pocket. i have read on the internet that i am not the only one with this problem. i wonder howe many times we as owners have to keep paying for something that does not work. clearly honda is not addressing the problem as they are making money off of us and are afraid of losing some. if the visor impedes proper visual of the road wouldn't this be a safety hazard? does anyone have to get hurt on the road in order for this to be taken care of? *tr

The driver's side visor broke off completely. the internal mechanism used to raise and lower the visor does not move easily -- now, not at all --causing the plastic visor to fall apart. dealer has agreed to replace it, but it is on back order because of the number of complaints and problems with this component. *jb
04/03/20071
The incident date is non-specific as this is an ongoing issue. the sun visors are very stiff and the effort required to raise and lower them frequently results in the visor springing away from the retaining clip. this movement could startle unsuspecting drivers or result in the visor hitting the driver's head. i have reported this issue to the local dealer and was advised that the visors had to be that stiff or they would flop down. this is inaccurate - we have a 2006 hyundai sonata that has a very light action on the sun visors and to-date, we have experienced no problems with the visor flopping down. i had hoped that the visor mechanism would slacken with time; however, this has not been the case. *jb

Problem: failure of sun visor on 2006 honda civic. i recently purchased a honda civic from mission valley honda in san diego california. the car is now about 4 months old and both of the sun visors are falling apart. i know this is now a huge safety issue, but a visor falling off in a crash or during air bag deployment is something i am concerned with. on taking the car to the dealer they told us that the part is on back order because they are falling apart on many of the new civics. i am writing this because i do not know if you have been informed of the problem, and it does seem that a re-design of the part may be needed to correct the problem, and may warrant a recall. please feel free to contact me about this matter. -andrew gibbs. *nm

Traveling on interstate 64 when the rear glass shattered and imploded into the vehicle. glass was projected into the cockpit of the car (all over the place). drivers side window was down completely, along with the passenger window down approximately 3. dealer ship was called and they ask that the car be returned immediately. there were no other passengers in the vehicle. the driver was covered with glass debris and also obtained a small cut on forehead. traffic was mild. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated while attempting to open the drivers side window, it came off the tract. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. the dealer maneuvered the window back into the tract, however it was determined the problem would reoccur due to the type of materials the tract was made of. the manufacturer has not been alerted.

Rear windshield lifts off at right rear pillar when the air of closing the driver or passenger door pushes it out of the frame. two days later at the service appointment, the rear windshield had lifted off the entire roof line, with a height of 2 inches at the right rear pillar. honda service dept. said they'd never seen anything like it; the caulking had not been sufficient to keep the windshield in place. they reglued it. an acquaintance in nj saw the same thing happen to the 2006 honda coupe in front of him. he changed lanes fast. *jb

2006 honda civic engine died while driving. customer states that the engine stalled and it was the dealers fault for when she had an oil change and they forgot to put oil in it. *kb the consumer stated there were two more incidents where the engine slowed and was very sluggish and the vehicle had to be towed back to the dealer. the consumer stated the driver's side window was not closing properly, the rear passenger door seal was coming apart, the brakes, rear door weather strip, and tail light were all replaced. *tr

I bought my 2006 honda civic ex coupe brand new in november 2005, problems started to occur shortly afterwards for instance the airbag light had a malfunction and recalled the dealer didn't fix it the first time, very inconvenient, brake pedal was fixed before i bought the vehicle, there was a recall on that as well because could fall off and cause a crash. i have taken it in to honda service to get problems fixed and numerous times, been told that its normal or some other ?!@#$% they always gave me the run around, the service people are rude, mean and incompetent and ignorant. i have taken my 06 civic in a total of 8-10 times now to fix problems they never fix anything! interior trim is poor/poor altering from the factory, panels loose and popping out interior scratches too easily/fragile cheaply made ?!@#$% (still), front drivers seat wont retract all the way back anymore like it used to (new) weather stripping is lifting up by front windshield (still) various rattles from interior (still), undercoating/under body spray from factory is peeling completely off (new) door panel flexes and rpms rise when using windows/now seems to roll up/down slower than before (still/new) keep in mind im only at 11,000 miles too! honda and toyotas quality is going downhill very fast especially with the civic, crv, rdx, mdx, camry, tundra, highlander, landcruiser, yaris, and rav4. the last year before the redesign of these vehicles the quality was great, now it seems like honda and toyota are either teaming up together or competing to see who can make the cheapest and ?!@#$% vehicle with cheaply made materials and taking shortcuts, changed a suppliers or something, these problems are unacceptable for a new vehicle.

*tr

Front windshield makes cracking/creaking noises from all areas around window where glass meets seal/metal. this occurs when the vehicle travels over any fluctuation in the road. some instances of creaking around the rear windshield, and even more rarely in the dashboard of the vehicle. extremely distracting. made noises since the car was new - 2 months old and severity of noises increasing. honda dealership noted noises but unaware of how to fix this issue (toronto honda). *jb

The wipers will not work properly. a few days ago on intermittent, they went 5 times, stopped/paused, then 3 times and then a few more times, then stopped again. later on that day, they would not turn off at all unless i turned the ignition off. today on the way to work, on a highway in the rain, my wipers stopped altogether which was scary as immediately i couldn't see anything for a few seconds. i moved the wiper arm around and they started again. when i got to work, they wouldn't stop and again, i had to turn the engine off to make them stop. i have never had this happen before in any car i have owned. *tr

My windshield wipers on my honda civic ex 2006 vehicle are not working properly. the main problem is that they won't turn off most of the time and when they do, they park anywhere on the windshield, which is often in my field of vision. the intermittent setting does not work properly. when i use any speed setting, the wipers go at the same speed and do not turn off when i put in the stop position. it is very distracting when driving in traffic not knowing when the wipers will decide to stop and where on the windshield they will stop. sometimes they stop in my field of vision and i need to quickly start them again so i can see, not knowing when and/or where they will stop the next time. often i need to keep doing this so i can safely see the road. i have read many posts on the internet discussing this same problem. apparently, this is a problem common to my make and model car and it is difficult to identify the specific cause. i strongly feel that there is a defect in the car causing this and that a recall should be made to rectify the problem. *tr
