FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Upon reading report # 10235631 on honda civic 2007, a sound like water rushing from the rear underside of car upon braking and accelerating: my 2007 honda civic does this also. it is obvious to me that it is the partial tank of gasoline sloshing back and forth inside the gas tank. most, if not all, cars' gas tanks have sheet metal baffles inside the gas tank to limit the sloshing of fuel upon motion of car. either the baffles are not adequate or non-existent. dealer just looks at me when i mentioned this. i know cars inside and out, as i have done almost all of the mechanical repairs on my cars for 55 years, including the innards of the gas tank. it's a no-brainer ! *tr
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - CARBURETOR SYSTEM

When engine is warm and car is at idle (either when stopped at traffic light or when parking before shutdown) and you open/close sun roof and/or power windows the rpms dip, car shakes, and engine almost stalls before rpms recover to normal idle. this has happened at least two dozen times and started happening soon after taking delivery. at approx 400 miles car was taken into dealer and dealer was able to reproduce the problem on my vehicle and also reproduced the problem on other new civics on dealer lot. dealer reset pcm and performed idle relearn procedure. this did not resolve the problem. dealer reported to honda engineering and they had no knowledge of issue and offered no advice. additionally at approx 600 miles after car sat unused all day and when attempting to start later that night, the car did not start on first attempt. on second attempt and after cranking longer than usual for startup, the car started roughly with a jolt and ran rough (car shaking) for 3-5 seconds. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. while driving 70 mph the front left tire struck a piece of wood and ruptured the fuel tank. the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle was leaking gasoline. the vehicle was towed to a local dealer who stated that there was a hole in the fuel tank. the vehicle is currently being repaired at a cost of $640.00. the contact is in the process of contacting the manufacturer. the contact does not feel the repair will remedy the failure since the dealer is replacing the failed component with a plastic fuel tank without a guard to protect the fuel tank from road debris or recurring. the failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 54,010.
FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER

Under humid conditions, the main battery of this hybrid suddenly drains, leaving the car without the electric motor. in this vehicle, this means that there is very limited torque (normally supplied by the electric motor). this first occurred in the summer of 2007 and has continued with increasing frequency to the present time. this brought to the attention of the selling dealership (southern motors of savannah) in august of 2007 and at the end of september of the same year. they claimed they could find nothing wrong despite being shown photographic evidence of the failure. the car was returned to the dealership on august 8, 2008 with further proof of the problem. the have claimed that they contacted american honda and were told that honda was aware of the problem but had found no solution. the car was returned to me on august 27, 2007 with the condition unresolved. *tr

The 2007 honda civic si (manual transmission) includes a drive-by-wire fuel throttle system that simulates leaving your foot on the accelerator even when your foot has been removed from the pedal when attempting to shift gears or attempting to decelerate. this condition presents a safety threat as well as necessitating excessive braking force causing unnecessary premature wearing of the brake lining and rotors. a tsb was released for the 2006 honda civic si that attempts to address this same issue. however, this correction is either not addressed on the 2007 model or not sufficiently addressed to correct the safety threat caused by this condition. *tr
