Driver's side visor just fell apart. it was not acting any different and then i went to position it back to its resting position before pulling out of work and it failed. housing has seperated which kept the interior workings in place. now the visor has slipped out from around the mechanism and i do not have the ability to position it to assist me in driving safely.

The visor on my honda civic 2007 has cracked and hangs down in my face causing visibility of the road to be greatly diminished. due to the cracked visor you are unable to get the visor to go back up and stay up so everytime i drive my car i can barely see the road. if i wreck my car due to this error in the make of honda civics i will sue honda for not having a recall on something that is extremely dangerous for myself and all other drivers on the road.

Both sun visors on 07 honda civic ex split, visors will no longer stay in the up position. visors cause a distraction and is a safety issue. you can get them replaced at honda dealership but they give you the same visors that they know are defective and will not last. visors are very cheaply made.

I own a 2007 honda civic lx which i purchased from dealer new. recently my driver side sun visor ruptured open, and no longer stays in the secure position. it drops down in front of me while driving and obstructs my vision. i am tall, so this is a safety visibility issue for me. apparently honda issued a recall for this issue, and also settled on a class action lawsuit and acknowledged a defect in the visor. however, the recall only extends up to 100,000 miles and i have more than that, so the dealer says honda will not cover it and i will have to pay out of pocket. that is very wrong, particularly when honda has acknowledged defective part, and it is clearly a safety issue.

I own a 2007 honda civic si which has faulty sun visors. the visors appear to be made of two separate pieces which separate apart in the heat. due to this separation, they do not grip the little arm which is connected to the ceiling; therefore, the visors cannot be pushed up to the ceiling. no-matter-what the visors drops down and returns to the position it would be to be used (for example, if the sun is in your eyes).. however it is a distraction and a complete nuisance to any driver. i am petite and it obstructs my view; however, if anyone else who is taller than me attempts to drive my vehicle they cannot see straight in front of them because the visor will not stay in place against the ceiling.. obviously this is a major safety hazard. moreover, the passenger visor separated last week and has the same faulty issue as the driver's side.
06/01/200915000
Sun visors split in half. once the visors are split, they will not hold a tucked up position, but rather will hang down and obsrtuct the driver's vision. the problem is chronic and there is now a class action lawsuit that has forced the vehicle manufacturer to extend the warranty on the sun visors. however, the broken visors are being replaced by another visor with the same design defect. after a brief period of use, the new sun visor also fails. the vehcile manufacturer needs to create a new design without the flaw and replace the old design with the new design at the manufacturer's expense.

Sun visor in 2007 lx civic coupe failed in hot weather. the plastic melted and spring broke through so that it does not function and partially obstructs view. replaced the visor the first time in 2008, and the new one broke again in 2009. the part is not under warranty by honda.
10/10/201035000
A sun visor failed, again. this is the 3rd time. first was the driver's side, second and third, passenger's side. the melting of the visor insides, due to high ambiant temperature, is now a known defect to many owners and the dealerships. driving with the sun visor stuck in the down position can be very dangerous when a taller driver is present. also, the issue is not easily mended unless the visor is taken in to be replaced. which was free the first two times, but now costs around $100.

Driver's side sun visor cracked along seam and falls down into vision of driver. can't be restored and you can only get it out of the way by pushing it to the side. it does not remain anchored there and when you turn it moves.

The driver's side visor cracked near where it is attached and will no longer stay up, so it falls down into my line of sight.

2007 honda civic ex 4 door (60,000 miles), drivers side sun visor split open at the seam and now hangs down and blocks forward and side line of sight. i believe this to be a safety issue. this happened once earlier when my car was under warranty. the dealer gladly fixed it. my car is now out of warranty and i don't want to pay 100+ bucks for a design issue that i'm not responsible for.

Sun visor failed, resulting in reduced visibility
07/01/2010
Driver's side sun visor split open and blocks line of sight because it won't stay up or at any angle and goes straight down, blocking the visibility of street lights especially. i have to go into honda to have it fixed now and don't know if my warranty covers a simnple sun visor or not, but if not i have seen reports online that this is going to cost me about $100. i could use the in this tough economy line, but regardless of the economy who wants to spend $100 on something so simple and silly as a faulty sun visor because a multi-billion dollar corporation doesn't want to spend a few bucks of their money on making this right? sorry this got a little editorial but it is just frustrating.

Driver side sun visor falls down into the line of vision on our 2007 honda civic lx sedan. it appears the visor has become warped and will not stay seated and often falls down into your line of sight out of the front windshield. only recourse is to swing it over towards the door but this is a safety issue and could cause a serious accident as your vision is blocked until the sun visor can be re-located.

Sun visor broke. i put my sun visor down to block the sun coming in my eyes, and when i went to lift it back up, it 'snapped' and won't go back up to the locked up right position. i took it to honda while i had my oil change to have them look at it, and they said it would be 100 dollars plus labor to change it. i refused to pay for it, and have since looked and seen many other complaints of the same type. maybe this should be recalled!
08/01/201044000
The driver's side visor is defective. it appears as though the seal on the hinge for the visor has come undone (not due to any excess force, simply due to general everyday use). the defective hinge on the visor leads to the inability to properly position the visor, when in use, or not in use. when in use, this creates a safety hazard due to obstructing the driver's vision by the visor itself due to inability to properly position the visor (it does not stay in place), or affecting the driver's vision due to not being able to properly shield glare and sun due to the inability to properly position the visor while driving. when not in use, the visor may not stay in place, therefore flopping in front of the driver's line of vision. this is a safety concern that, when researched on the internet, is large problem with honda civic owners like myself. this has not yet caused me to have an accident, but i'm trying to be proactive in preventing such an incident. i have tried multiple times to speak with my honda service people, and i've been told this is not covered under warranty. however, the service people have told me they see this complaint all the time. this is a safety defect that needs to be addressed and properly handled. thank you for looking into this matter.

I purchased a new honda civic sedan in 2007. at around 40,000 miles, the driver's side visor has split apart and will not stay up. it flops down making it difficult for me to see the roads. i have not taken the visor to get repaired, but my research shows that this has happened to several other owners of the same type of vehicle.

2007 honda civic sun visors split open and will not stay up. the visor then dangles down in the driver's face and partially obstructs vision. from online complaint forums, appears to happen in 2006 and 2008s too. although there may be a tech bulletin, the dealer would not replace, and the problems appears to happen on replacements as well.

The sun visors on the 2007 honda civic lx are defective. once the hinge breaks, the visor will no longer stay up and it hangs straight down blocking more than one third of the windshield visibility. because my vision is dangerously obstructed i often have to move the visor so that it is against the driver-side window. with the visor in this position, nearly half of the side window visibility is obstructed causing yet a different but equally dangerous hazard. furthermore, when my visor is against the driver-side window and i have to turn, the visor often hits me in the head. in order to prevent being hit in the head i have to hold the visor in place while turning. your defect is not only a cosmetic nuisance it is also very dangerous.

The driver's side sun visor in my 2007 honda civic has split at the seam twice, and i have had it replaced by my local honda dealer both times. it starts to split slowly, but with each use gets gradually worse until it it just hangs limply, obstructing my view of the road. the 2nd time it was replaced, honda said i was out of warranty and would not fully pay for the replacement part (this was in the span of approx. 1 year). when the visor was broken, i had several near-wrecks due to the visor being directly in my view of the road. it is dangerous because as a driver, you either have to accept that the sun will be in your eyes and will block your view or the visor will be in your way and obstruct your view. this is an every-day occurence, as a visor is used almost daily. the second time i had it replaced, i took a binder clip (found at any office supply store) and clipped it over the seam to keep it held together. i have not had the problem of the seam splitting since i have put the clip there, but this shold not be happening, and i should not have to hold my 2007 vehicle together with a paper clip.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 honda civic. she was unable to provide an approximate speed at the time of the incident, but the vehicle has been experiencing a recurring failure in which both front sun visors flip downwards while driving. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two occasions where it was repaired. the failure has again recurred but the vehicle was not taken to be repaired. the failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 55,000. sm.

The driver side sun visor on my 2007 honda civic is defective. the plastic pieces that attach it to the mounting has melted due to the heat inside of the car and causes the visor to not be able to be put back into the upright position. before it totally broke, it would fall down into my line of vision while driving, since it was not able to be folded back up properly due to the damaged parts. it now hangs partially in my line of vision since it no longer can be folded up properly. i have read countless similar complaints of this happening on other honda civics and it's a shame that honda doesn't consider this a safety hazard!

I purchased my 2007 honda civic new in december 2006. since that time my driver's side overhead visor has broken and failed twice! once in june 2009 and again october 2010. this is unsafe for normal driving because the visor will not remain out of my field of vision when i drive. there is no way to adequately secure the visor out of the field of sight without totally replacing the part. the first time it was repaired by honda for free because it was covered by warranty. now my vehicle is out of warranty and the dealer wants to charge me nearly $100 to repair the visor. this happened under normal driving conditions and during normal use of the vehicle. i have never had a problem of this type with any other vehicle before! this is an obvious quality control manufacturing defect that continues to recur and honda should take responsibility for the repair and replacement of the defective article on behalf of the consumer/customer. i believe this problem warrants investigation and follow up before a serious accident happens due to someone not effecting the repair in a reasonable amount of time due to the prohibitive cost placed on the shoulders of the consumer.

 1. 2007 honda civic visor split within a month of purchase. it was still functional despite the split, until approximately 9/27/10, when it stopped locking in place and started interfering with visibility. just learned that many civic owners complain of the same problem. 2. at approximately 26,000 miles, windshield spontaneously cracked while parked overnight, yet there was no impact. crack formed overnight on 9/30/10-10/1/10. windshield was smooth to the touch from both the outside and inside all along the length and breadth of the crack.

I have owned a honda civic for at least 2 year maybe mores. its a 2007 model. i had been living in chicago (had moved there) since the the end of 2008 (december to be exact-making it almost the beginning of january 2009. i lived there till april 2010. we then moved back to texas. i had not had a problem with the visor until a month and a half later before my girlfriends and i left for a trip to dallas. the visor refused to stay up. i have not however had the money to buy a new one until l now. still i find this very risky and very much of a safety issue.

The sun visors (both drivers and passenger ) split at the top seams where they are glued together, making it impossible for visors to stay up; thus obscuring the vision of both the driver and passenger. this is the second time the passenger sun visor has been replaced for the same defect which is a manufacuring, design, and engineering defect. i was advised by several honda employees that numerous sun visors are replaced on a weekly basis for the identical defect, just at one dealership. this is not a dealership issue but a honda issue. it is to be noted that the sun visors were in no way abused or even used that much but the seams just split. i have been in law enforcement for over thirty years and can assure you that this defect not only affects the indiciduals in the honda with the defective sun visors but other drivers and pedestrians as well, resulting from the obscured vision, i was advised that honda is aware of the defect but continues to use the same sun visors in new vehicles and that they continue to fail by splitting at the seams there was no resulting accident, i was advised that the sun visors would have to be returned to honda but i did photograph them and the photos are available. it is to be noted that the service department at the dealership was excellent and that honda did replace them at a reduced cost even though the vehicle had approximtely 51,000 miles on it and was out of warranty.

The sunvisor in my 2007 honda civic split at the seams and will no longer stay up. it hangs down into my field of vision. i have talked to several other honda owners and the same thing has happened to them- and with replacement parts that they have purchased. apparently the honda sunvisors break in high heat. mine exploded on july 24- when the heat was in the 100s.

2007 honda civic drivers side sun visor cracked/popped apart causing an inability to push it up all the way, obscured view while driving; car is only 3 years old with ~29,000 miles on it; found it this way after it had been parked at the airport for 2.5 days; called honda america and was given a case number and then told i had 5 days to go to a honda dealer to diagnose the problem and a case manager would call me but there was no guarantee they would do anything about this....there are many complaints about this online and it's a safety hazard and there should be a recall

The sunvisor on my 07 honda civic cracked and hangs down, obstructing my view (especially of signal lights). this occurred on it's own. i don't pull it down often, so it's received no sort of abuses nor anything that could have possibly caused a break. i researched the part to find a cheap replacement when i discovered that i am among a multitude of people who have experienced the exact same thing! http://www.usrecallnews.com/2007/09/major-honda-civic-recall-of-2006-and-2007-models.html the worst part is that if one does pay for the replacement, then he/she can be nearly certain that it will crack as well.

The sun visors on both the driver and passenger side failed. the poor design of the visors is the reason for the failure. the amount of force required to move the sun visor up or down eventually unwelds the plastic front from the plastic back. the result is the visor is stuck in the down possition resulting in a safty issue.

The honda 07 civic sun visors are defective and must be recalled! the heat causes the visors to crack and become suspended in the down position. after it cracks it will not lock in the up position. the honda dealership admits this is a common problem and i must pay to have it fixed now that my warrenty has expired! this will be the second time i've replaced both visors.

Sun visor on 2007 honda civic fails again in the heat. have purchased replacement visor just to have them fail again in a few months. when they fail at the hinges, it causes the visor to hang down in the line of site, if you remove it, then you don't have any protect from the sun shinning in your eyes. honda is very aware of this as there are 1,000's of posting and the dealers all acknowledge that it is an issue. honda needs to come up with a recall and a visor design that works verses just doing nothing...it is a huge safety issue!!

At issue is driver's side sun visor for 2007 honda, per service department at dealership, there is a defect in manufacturing that lead to a separation of the visor on the seam so that the visor does not go up and stay up causing issues with visibility. while driving, seam separated further while trying to hold up the visor to see a road sign which led to the visor hanging down in the middle of the windshield while driving on an expressway. i was able to pull it off of the hinge and toss it on the seat averting an accident. per service desk personnel, no improvement in the part has been made by honda to date. as per review of blogs on the internet, some owners have replaced the visors multiple times

Car sits in the sun while at work. i have tinted windows, leave them slightly cracked to get some airflow, and also use a sun shield on the windshield to keep as much heat out as i can. still, the sun visor hinges fail and the visors hang down in your face with no way to get them out of the way except removing them from the car completely. i had one visor replaced under warranty last year, and now both driver/passenger visors are broken in the exact same manner, including the visor that was already replaced once. driving on the highway and having the visor flip down in your face with no way to move it out of the way is a big problem. i'm a pretty tall guy, and the visor is directly in my field of vision when it falls down. holding it up out of the way with one hand, second hand on the wheel, and trying to shift to get off the interstate to remove the visor is no easy task... as far as i can tell, there has been no redesign of this part, so it will continue to happen (seemingly every summer) even if i were to pay to get the visors replaced each year.

2007 honda civic sun visors break and will not stay up. driver cannot see traffic lights without holding the sun visor up with his/her hand. visor falls back down as soon as it is pushed up. this is a safety issue because the driver's vision is impaired. driver's visor just broke, while passenger visor also broke a few months ago -- suggests the visors are defective. car only has 45,000 miles on it.

Driver's side visor was loose and did not stay in the full up or full down position reliably, trouble began a year after delivery and gradually became worse. in june, 2010, the visor suddenly split open and the visor hung loosely and would stay in the up position. i repaired the visor by clamping the split parts together with a u-shaped piece of stainless steel. seems to be holding for now.

 1. it has been a hot summer, and the car is parked in partial shade during the day. 2. the seam on the sunvisor at the arm has cracked open rendering the sunvisor ineffective. this is a safety issue because the sunvisor can only be moved while the car is stopped; it requires both hands and some time to move up or down. 3. it has not been fixed yet, but honda said that they can replace the part for $60.

Drivers side visor split open on hot day and will no longer stay up or down. impacts visibility.
06/12/201092000
Our 2007 honda civic sun visor has broken twice. the first time was only a month or so after purchasing brand new from the dealer. when the sun visor breaks, it dangles in front of the driver's view. whether in the front or pushed to the side, the broken sun visor tilts down and dangles in a distracting way which is dangerous for the driver of the civic. the sun visor was very poorly designed by honda. structurally speaking, the torsional resistance required to rotate the visor from the up position to the down position wasn't correctly designed for. the result is that the internal plastic clamps that are supposed to resist all forces from the internally rotating metal arm, fail and after these plastic clamps internally get torn apart, the sun visor dangles oddly in front of the driver and causes a dangerous distraction. this poorly designed sun visor fails very easily under normal use, and gives no warning of distress, before failing suddenly. this sun visor should be recalled and replaced with a correctly designed sun visor that won't brake and cause this safety issue.

Honda civic models 2006 and 2007 have defective sun visors. there are hundreds, if not thousands, of reported cases online. twice in the past 14 months, i have been driving when my sun visor unexpectedly split at the seam and suddenly fell into my line of sight. both times i was startled and my vision was obstructed while operating the car at speeds exceeding 60 mph. fortunately, i was able to avoid an accident both times. i am on my 3rd visor, but feel uneasy behind the wheel, worried it will happen again. additionally, when waiting for a service appointment, i am forced to drive without a functional visor, and have been temporarily blinded by the sun on more than one occasion. i called honda and spoke with morris who readily admitted that this is a common complaint that they receive, but honda was unwilling to do anything on my behalf since my car is no longer under warranty. i still have the last faulty sun visor.

Driver side and passenger side visors fell apart almost like they melted. i don't think they fixed it the first time i brought it in. now they are saying it isn't covered under warranty. they knew the visor design was flawed. now i can't move either visors from my view.

2007 honda civic driver's side visor split open just afew months after it was purchased in may 2007. dealer could not replace right away because visors were on back order because so many had failed. since that time i have made sure visor was never left in the down position, however the visor split open again while in the up position. i was only out of the car for 30 minutes. the mileage is 53000, so it is no longer under warranty. this appears to be a manufacturers defect, especially seeing how many others have had the same experience. can honda not be made to replace or redesign these visors.

There were no signs that my daughter's driver's side sun visor, while driving, was going to break, and hang down in front of her eyes, blocking her view of the road. if this is not a safety issue, then what is? after searching the web and noticing the increasing number of complaints related to this issue, and calling my local dealer, only to be told that, since my warranty had expired, i would be responsible for honda's problem. i knew i had to do something to not only protect my daughter, but also protect other consumers experiencing the same problem. if you're reading this, please take the time to file a complaint with honda usa at 1-800-999-1009 and dot's, nhtsa at 1-888-327-4236. the only way, we as consumers, are going to be able to make honda do anything to correct their problem, is to file a complaint with the proper regulatory agency. it upsets me, to know, that honda, knowing they have a defective part, will not look out for the safety of their customers, and step up to the plate, and correct this problem they created. my local dealer told me that since my warranty had expired, it would cost me $100.00 to replace the sun visor. i informed him that i will make a call to the above-listed numbers, and we will proceed from there. please make the calls if you're experiencing this problem. do not allow honda to get away with, not only a safety issue, but also making us pay for their defective product. this could have been a dangerous situation. make sure you select visibility, under the components name, located on the vehicle information page, of this complaint form.

I own a 2007 honda civic with 40,000 miles on it. the sunvisors on this vehicle are complete junk. i already had the oem sunvisors replaced, and now the replacements have broken in exactly the same way. the honda dealer attempted to tell me that it was my fault the visors had broken, when it is extremely obvious that in fact they melt every time the temperature goes over 90 in my area. i have found numerous complaints of this exact same issue online and would like to let you know that it is not just a problem in the southwest. having a sunvisor flop into your eyes/line of vision or not being able to properly block sun from your vision are both safety issues. it is completely irresponsible of honda not to replace something as inexpensive as a sunvisor at their own expense. *tr

I have purchased the brand new march 2007 honda civic on may 2007. the driver's side sun visor is broken and does not remain in up position nor remain on the side. this is a driving hazard as it blocks and obstructs the driver's view, and will hit the driver with vehicle movement. it causes a huge issue with visibility on the road. not so much during the day but very much at night to the point where it is extremely annoying to drive with it at night. it is under warranty for three years but car driven more then 30,000 miles. when i go to schaumburg honda they said it is never covered under warranty because it is wear & tear. i also have bumper to bumper warranty even though they did not care to verify warranty and quoted me parts $65.00 and installation charge $36.00. this is given in writing by dealer on 02/16/2010. *tr

Windshield wiper does not park itself in the right position when turning off. while driving, sometimes the windshield wiper will stop in the middle of the windshield thus blocking portions of my view. this occurs on several occasions when the outside temperature is below 40 degrees f and raining/snowing. when the wiper fail to park itself in the correct position, it blocks driver's view and could cause an accident. issue occurred a few times on highway travel and partially block my view of a lane barrier. brought to dealership and dealership could not reproduce problem. *tr

2007 honda civic, both sun visors have had to be replaced. i have purchased the care brand new march 2007 - and this will be the 4th time getting these replaced, i have called honda's 800 number twice and they just keep telling me i am under warranty. well, what happens if the thing breaks again while i am driving and get into an accident? this is an issue and i have to drive 60 miles round trip every time i need these replaced. i think honda should look into these visors - this is a safety issue - i live in fl and use my visors everyday. i should not have to have them replaced 4 times within 2 years! *tr

Honda civic sun visors, split, break and lose their ability to stay fixed while driving. i'm in need in replacing my 3rd sun visor. the visors on the honda civic drops and obstructs a clear view when driving and is a major safety concern. honda dealers tell consumers that it's due to heat in the area where i live, but there are many websites listing complaints from with other honda owners who live in an areas with cooler temperatures. regardless of where one resides, i am uncomfortable driving my car with fear that the visor will drop without warning, startle me and obstruct my view. how does one get through to the honda manufacturer that this is a major problem that must be resolved, not just replaced at the owner's expense. *tr

8th generation honda civic models have a common problem of sun visor hinge failures that cause the visor to always stay in the down position. this is not so much of a problem during the day, but it severely limits the sight of the driver at night. this is a problem with all 8th gen civics, but honda refuses to cover the repair, or to recall the visor. *tr

The sun visor is broken in my 2007 honda civic ex. when it first happened, i was able to muscle it up into the proper closed position, but since i park in the sun, and need to use a sun shade, i need to put down the sun shade, then muscle it back into the closed position again. this morning as i put down the shade, i heard a loud cracking sound, and saw that the shade is falling apart now, with broken pieces of plastic now falling out of the shade. this is a design flaw that several others have reported. i have a 100 mile commute to work, so the car was long out of warranty when this first happened, based on mileage, and i can't afford to have this repaired at my cost, so i will have to attempt to repair it myself, as there has been no recall initiated by honda for this extremely common issue. *tr

Both driver and passenger sun visors in honda civic 2007 model cracking and falling apart. hangs and does not go up in the stow position easily without wanting to pop off. blocks driver's view and can no longer do a good job of blocking the sun out of the field of view. this situation can easily lead to a dangerous driving condition. i've reported the problem to honda usa and they are not making a recall or a redesign on this part. so the broken/cracked sun visors are being replaced by new parts that are designed to fail in the future. *tr

At less than 50k miles on my 2007 honda civic ex my windshield wipers started acting erratic. they would not respond to the control, as in they would not turn off when turned to the off position, the delay function was not working, and would not turn on sometimes. when this happened there were times when i could not see due to rain, and the wipers not working properly, and also when i could not clean the dirt, salt and other road gunk off the windshield because they would not work. i took the car into the dealership where they charged me hundred of dollars to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly, when this was obviously a defective part to begin with. *tr

Hello, i bought the 2007 honda civic brand new. the sun visors on both sides busted within 2 months. there was no unusual pressure or use. given the numbered complaints. i thought this should be escalated. we must have honda resolve the issue definitively and quickly. both for the ongoing safety and the inexplicable residual cost to the consumer. please let me know what our rights and recourse are. please reference this internet link in regards to the extend of the problem. http://www.usrecallnews.com/2007/09/major-honda-civic-recall-of-2006-and-2007-models.html thank you in advance, sharon goh *tr

The visor on the driver side in 2007 honda civic lx model is made of cheap plastic and cracks open if you happen to pull it down and put it back up frequently. once it cracks open it will not stay up again and hangs loose down obstructing the driver's view. it hangs down and very annoying while driving as front view is obstructed because of loose hanging visor. my car is just one and half year old and it has already cracked open twice. last time when the dealer replaced it since it is under warranty it cracked open in just couple months. if this problem is not fixed it will become a safety hazard as people can not go on buying and replacing the visor every month and in the absence may get involved in car accidents due to vision getting blocked with visor. *tr

We own a 2007 honda civic dx which has had a chronic problem with the driver's side sun visor failing twice before and, now, both the driver's side and passenger's side sun visors have failed. each time a honda dealer has replaced the defective part. the safety issue is that, with the driver's side malfunctioning, the driver has to hold the visor out of his / her line of site leaving only one hand to drive the car. the manufacturer has been contacted and has said it will replace the defective part as it occurs, however, this part should be examined and re-engineered to give consistent, safe service. *tr

The driver side visor fell on my lap and honda replaced it because it was still on warranty.. but now the passenger visor is hanging down but honda wont replace because its out of warranty. the front breaks does wear out around 12k miles after replacing it with the dealer for the 3rd time (honda dont want to admit that they use poor quality pads so you'll keep coming back to them for replacement, they say its the way you drive but i did point out to them that if i drive like a maniac i would have also need to replace my tires which lasted me more than 50k miles) i decided go get an aftermarket ceramic pads and had it installed from pepboys. its been more than 30k miles and breaks are still fine. the wiper blade on driver side does become sticky on the windshield which leaves unpleasant streak on my windshield.. even after getting a new wiper it still have the same problem.. i solve this problem by replacing my driver wiper with a shorter one(original is 26 now i have 24)

When engine is warm and car is at idle (either when stopped at traffic light or when parking before shutdown) and you open/close sun roof and/or power windows the rpms dip, car shakes, and engine almost stalls before rpms recover to normal idle. this has happened at least two dozen times and started happening soon after taking delivery. at approx 400 miles car was taken into dealer and dealer was able to reproduce the problem on my vehicle and also reproduced the problem on other new civics on dealer lot. dealer reset pcm and performed idle relearn procedure. this did not resolve the problem. dealer reported to honda engineering and they had no knowledge of issue and offered no advice. additionally at approx 600 miles after car sat unused all day and when attempting to start later that night, the car did not start on first attempt. on second attempt and after cranking longer than usual for startup, the car started roughly with a jolt and ran rough (car shaking) for 3-5 seconds. *tr

The windshield wipers on my 2007 civic have been replaced 4 times since the purchase of the car in october of 2006. the wipers streak so badly that i cannot see out of the windshield safely. upon taking the car back to the dealer, they admit that there is a problem that they have experienced with other vehicles, but that the new wipers are only a temporary fix. they have used several different compounds on the windshield to attempt to erase whatever problems are causing this issue. they have used a clay that is used in body shops to scrub down the window. this works momentarily. there is a bigger issue that honda is not yet addressing. they claim that it is the elements which are responsible for this problem. i refuse to agree with this as this is my 5th new vehicle, and the other 4 had wipers that worked perfectly for over 2 years before needing to be replaced. i am severely annoyed that i've had to keep returning to the dealership and i am still getting no real solution. *tr
