 The rear tire wore out fast, they were cupping and vibrating and noisy/thumping starting around 25,000 miles. at 30,000 miles i could not wait anymore. i bought 2 new tires for the back, the front tires were still ok. then i took it to round rock honda for alignment. everything was good then, i had the new tires at the front. after another 20k miles, i replaced the 2 old tires with new ones. i kept balancing and rotating the tires. but at around 70k miles the rear tires started to wear out again. i rotate and balanced the tires. now at 88k miles, the car starts to vibrate and noisy again at 65mph. the tires were supposed to be good for 60-70k, but the uneven wear showing up around 30k . i checked w/ discount tire, they claim civic has problems w/ tire wear. so i checked on internet, found the issue about honda civic premature tire wear. i went to round rock honda, but they won't replace new control rear arms and do alignment for free. i have to pay around $450.00. i filed this complain first. i'm planning to replace the old two tires again for now. the look for honda to replace new control rear arms and do alignment for free. i called another honda dealer to verify, they are claiming there is no issue w/ 2008 civic lx sedan, which is not listed in the tsb 08-001 (2006 and 2007 only). so i guess there is not enough complains about this tire wearing fast issue yet. if honda keeps playing dumb, my last resort would probably be selling this civic and consider buying a toyota instead of a honda.

 The vehicle has defective upper control arms and flange bolts which cause the tires to wear fast and dangerously, as well at cause the car to shake in the back while driving. this is a defect in the car and honda will pay for it but only if the vehicle is still under factory warranty. by the time i bought the car and noticed the problem it was out of warranty. this is unacceptable! it is a defect! they should have to pay for it!

 The paint on the roof of my honda civic started to fade in two spots and then the spot grew larger and is now down to the metal. i visited the dealership and the service manager took pictures and was going to send them to the area representative and get back to me. after i did not hear from him, i called and found out that he was no longer with the dealership so i asked for the new service manager. i left several messages and made a personal visit and the new service manager was busy when i was there and he never bothered to return my calls. after checking this on the internet, i see that this is ongoing problem that honda has had and cannot find out what, if anything honda has or is doing about it.

 On multiple occasions, while shifting the car into 3rd gear, the gears grind. the shift knob is lined up exactly where it should be to go into 3rd gear. the car will also pop out of 3rd gear at random without even stepping on the clutch to prompt it. this is a very dangerous problem to have in a standard car, and i have seen many people make complaints about this online. i called honda customer service and they said that it was my responsibility to get the car fixed, not theirs, and that they base most of their claims for reimbursement on mileage as well as honda customer loyalty. the gentleman then proceeded to ask me if i had owned a honda before and insinuated that due to the fact that this is the first honda that i owned that the likelihood of them reimbursing would be slim. this is not right. i did not choose for my transmission to be built with a faulty part, and i should not be responsible for fixing the problem when my safety is called into question.

 The front of hood and fender area . paint is chipping away. it is called crow's feet. lines and chips along with cracks are very visible to the naked eye. honda has a tsb about it, since a lot of people have the same issue but they only claim to take responsebility of the vehicle that have protection plan. when i bought the vehicle they never offered me, nor speak of protection plan. so what can i do?

 After the recall for the sun visor melting, i got both the driver side and passenger visor replaced last year. its been one year and they melted again. honda repaired them but i do not want to have to go in every year for a replacement. they need to fix the underlying issue. the warranty was extended but only for 100,000 miles or 7 years. if they continue to use the same visor, then after 7 years or 100k miles, it will still be a hazard. my friend in arlington also has the same make and model and she is having the same issue with the already recalled and replaced visors.

 This summer, from the month of may onwards, i felt difficult in breathing, blurred vision and sometimes a sudden chest pain while driving my civic with ac running, it blew cool but not cold air, and there were many instances that i almost fell off and my body became off balance while walking around after driving the civic. at first, i thought it might be i am getting old, 46yrs. but. later , i found out that there is a freon leak within the car when ac is engaged . a tif 5000 detector was used to check and confirm the present of r134a in the cool air inside the civic. the check was carried out under condition that ac system is blowing closed circulatiuon air within the car. i felt that this type of incident might post a greater risk of automobile accidents for elderly drivers as the r134a, freon, is poisonous and once the drivers unaware of its present and inhale it and physically lose control of their vehicles. especially elderly ones are more vulnerable and accidents happen. there are many accidents might be due to this type of ac defect. the public or the investigators may have not realized this is one of the possible causes of accidents, as the crashes may have physically destroy all the evidences of defective ac system. i hope you will look into this problem. not only honda automobiles but all cars in the usa.

 I noticed that 2 days ago it was raining inside my car i bought the car brand new off of the lot in 2008. the areas that are leaking/collecting water are where the side front airbag is located, along with the windshield, and side of the door. called the dealer they are telling me that my warranty has expired therefore i will need to replace the windshield and other components (roof, airbags,etc.) the car has never been in an accident or anything and now i am almost scared to drive it since they are telling me that it is the windshield i am petrified that it will implode soon. this seems extremely dangerous now i am unsure that if i get in an accident because of the water what if my airbag won't work upon impact? what happens if the windshield implodes while i am driving this issue is an accident waiting to happen.

 Sun visor split apart causing the visor to loosly stay in the line of sight of the driver. the mechanism that holds the visor up does not hold the visor up anymore because of the split. looks like the heat of the interior of the car mixed with the plastic pieces of the visor caused the defect. honda needs to not just replace the parts, they need to redesign the visors using different materials that will hold up to the extreme heat that car interiors have to face. currently they are replacing the visors with the same defectively designed visors. they need to be forced to fix the problem, instead of treat the symptom! type in honda sun visor defect in any search engine and you will see that this is a very common problem!

 I had pulled off the freeway exit and proceeded to follow the cars ahead of me as the traffic signal light had turned green and did not necessitate me stopping, only slowing down to continue my left hand turn onto the surface street. suddenly without warning the sun visor flipped down without being touched and hit me in the forehead. the hard plastic edge hit me relatively quickly and knocked my prescription glasses off. there was a moment when i had my vision obscured and did not see the vehicle in front of me come to a rather sudden stop. i narrowly escaped hitting the back bumper of the vehicle ahead of me. fortunately i was traveling at a relatively low rate of speed, maybe 20 mph which probably would have caused minor damage, if any. however, people can be injured by whiplash even in low speed rear-end collisions. i have secured the visor with a bungee cord for the moment because the dealership wants to charge customers for this defective part plus labor and it is not cheap. i am afraid that the bungee cord might snap and cause a different sort of injury; however, there really is no way it will stay up against the interior cabin roof without it. i would like to add that i recall my 2002 honda civic had the exact same problem which occurred on both the driver's side and passenger's side at different times. also, at certain times of the day the sun is so blinding in california where i live that it is extremely hazardous to not be able to see the road and highway signs and lights without the assistance of a visor to block the glaring, bright light of the sun. in my estimation it is only a matter of time before this obvious defect causes a major fatality accident.

 This vehicle was having a continuous roaring noise from the rear when the vehicle is being driven. took to proctor honda of tallahassee and mentioned the problem. honda dealer noticed the rear tires were beginning to cup and rotated tires to address sound issue and blamed the tires as the malfunctioning part by recommending a tire replacement. at that time the tire toyo spectrums were only 1 year and 9 months old having being installed on 3/2009 , had a 65k tread life warranty. the 2006 and 2007 models of honda civic had technical service bulletins issued regarding the rear upper control arms causing uneven wear of rear tires (cupping) service bulletin number : 08-001date of bulletin : feb 08, 2008 ,nhtsa item number : 10024687. this honda was purchased on 11/2007 and was obviously manufactured during the 2007 year. the proctor honda mechanics believe that the rear upper control arms have already been replaced on this vehicle but i have no documentation revealing a date any such work was done. i have contacted the previous dealer hennessy honda and the previous owner and neither have had these upper control arms replaced. now in may 2012 these tires that were rotated with the tires on the vehicle that were not cupping in 2010 are now severely cupped ( high /low areas) while the front tires are not cupped at all from my inspection. seems isolated to the rear of vehicle. the rear cupping occurs primarily on the inside part of the tire nearest to the vehicle but it is severe. this vehicle has already had the lower engine block replaced due to cracking coolant passages which i might emphasize that the 2007 honda civic also has issues with. this is my mom's vehicle and i want her to be safe driving this and do not want to keep buying new tires ( of a different brand) only to have them prematurely worn and cupping of tires caused as well. please investigate this issue ????

 I have a 2008 honda civic, the a/c works intermittently, sometimes it cools sometimes it does not. i have it checked by a dealership and a firestone shop, they said the 'freon' level and pressure is ok and both recommended replacing the compressor, etc. if the compressor is broken then why does it still work (on and off)? i've read in some of the forums that there are a lot of honda civic 2008 owners had the same problem. is there a recall or class-action complaint about this? is there a fix where you don't need to spend tons of money on it?

 I reported to honda of america that the clear coat paint on my vehicle had begun splitting throughout the hood and fenders. honda of america recommended that i take it in to be evaluated by the service team and service manager at my local dealership. i took my vehicle in to earnhardt honda in avondale, arizona, the end of december 2011. i belong to a honda civic enthusiast forum called 8thcivic.com. hundreds of members there with civics in the color of nighthawk black pearl and fiji blue pearl have noticed this phenomena and have posted pictures of there vehicle. this has sparked some debate over why honda has not admitted to and taken responsibility for issues regarding paint on the 06-11 models. i've heard paint experts on the message board state that the clear coat is cracking, called crows feet due to a defective clear coat that was applied during manufacturing. this mixed with the heat of the engine bay caused the clear coat to seperate and crack. the long term effects of this will basically be the paint bubbling and wearing away. i've hard my car for only 2 years, and it had 38k miles on it when i brought it to the dealership. since that time the dealership has been ignoring my calls and honda of america has been running me around in circles to no avail.

 Both sun visors have cracked at hinges. i have to hold visor in place to see traffic light. should visor be placed to the left of me (driver), it has upon rare occasion swung & hit me in the head. this is dangerous & i hope honda doesn't charge me to replace them as by several other testimonies via the internet, others have had the same issue. i believe these visors to be defective & may cause an accident. i recently found out there was a class action lawsuit regarding said visors & honda should do the right thing & replace my visors free, as i have under 10k miles on the car & take good care of it. also, the engine block problem should be made into a recall as again, i've seen several complaints online with this issue. honda gave an extended warranty which will last for 3 yrs after my car is paid off. while this may seem trivial to a huge corporation, it means a lot to those of us on a fixed income. i cannot give you an exact incident date but my car was approximately 1.5 yrs old when the visors cracked (only a month apart). i trusted honda but apparently they didn't wish to share the visor issues with buyers to rectify the situation.

 I had to have all four tires replaced on my 2008 honda civic lx at 34,658 mi. july 2010. when i brought my civic in for its routine check up, which i do whenever i'm at 15% oil life, i complained of a roaring noise from my tires. the honda tech guy said my tires were badly worn and suggested i buy new tires immediately. kuhmo tires, the brand i bought from honda, have a 60000 mi. warranty. that same roaring noise is back and i went in for my routine check up and was told that my tires need to be replaced at 61285 mi. december 31, 2011. one tech guy hinted that there have been problems with the rear-upper control arm causing possible problems with certain civics. if this is the case, i want it corrected, and i want my tires replaced at no cost to me. honda tells me they don't know what the problem is and will allow me to pay full price for new tires while they try to get me a 50% prorated reimbursement from kuhmo. i am not satisfied with this at all. this is a costly safety issue. there has been heavy rainfall in my area and my car hydroplanes. i told the honda service department this, and they said that it is because of my worn tires. i get my tires aligned and rotated on their recommended schedule. if there is a defective part that is causing the premature wear of my tires and is putting my life and the lives of my family as well as others on the road at risk, honda must take resposibility for this problem and correct it.

 At 78,000 miles i began to notice unusual road noise. ( humming) less than a year later i'am experiencing horrific road noise (peaks near 55 mph) and now unusual tire wear. tires are rotated, balanced and front end aligned regularly.i thought maybe bearing problems. local mechanic checked and said no. tire dealership thought the same, checked and said no. honda dealership said tires needed rotation to eliminate the problem. (did not help) back to tire dealership, they believe i need a kit for rear cam arms. noise so loud i sometimes use ear plugs to drown out sound/not safe.

 Unintended acceleration while braking. i turned into the grocery store parking lot and had my foot pressing on the brake to slow down for some people. i was looking for a place to park. all of a sudden, the car accelerated forward rapidly while i was braking. i pressed the brake all the way down. the car kept accelerating rapidly. i grabbed the parking brake with my right hand and steered the wheel with my left hand. i kept my foot pressing on the brake. the car kept accelerating and hit metal railing. the car swerved to the right and hit the first concrete step. the car stopped and i was severely shaken. i tried to get the key out of the ignition, but it would not come out. a man, woman, and store manager kept asking me if i was alright. several police cars came. one policeman inspected the floor mat in front of the driver's seat. he tried to wiggle it. it only wiggled a little bit to the left and remained far away from the gas pedal, not touching the gas pedal. he wiggled the key with some motion and pulled it out. the derry township police dept. wrote up a crash information report - incident number dtr111023005. i am still upset and shaken from this accident. the sudden unintended acceleration was so frightening and so dangerous that i no longer trusted this car. the next day when i tried to drive this car to the dealership, the temperature was so hot that it was in the red area. i had this car towed to the dealership, ciocca honda in harrisburg. i traded this 2008 honda civic for a 2012 honda civic. in june 2011, my 2008 honda had a complete inspection at good's automobile service in hershey, pa. everything checked out fine. i have had several episodes where i was driving and the car would accelerate on its own. ciocca checked my car several times and said it was fine. the 7/14/2010 service form recorded customer states vehicle accelerates when off gas.

 My driver's side visor cracked and split at the top. this makes it impossible to return it to the upward position and it stays in my line of sight during driving. i have researched the problem and thousands of others have reported the same issue with the honda civic. this issue needs to be resolved and a recall needs to be made.

 The clearcoat paint is peeling on the roof and trunk and other areas of the car are looking dull like they will peel soon too. this car has been well taken care of and there is no reason for this happening, other than defective paint. although this is not safety related, this is a very expensive to fix problem that should be covered by the manufacturer.

 Driving a 2008 honda civic lx on the freeway and all of a sudden the driver sun visor swings down partially blocking my view and scaring me into a swerve. the sunvisor broke unexpectedly and will not stay in place. honda dealer indicates there are no recalls for driver sun visors at this time so i would need to replace it with a new one. this is definitely a safety issue that could potentially cause an accident.

 The driver's side sun visor is defective and one day just swung down, partially blocking my vision. the plastic parts split open and the rod is partially exposed. this is a safety issue while driving because it will not stay up in its closed position -- until i get it fixed, the visor is either down in front of my face, or if i swing it out of the way, down, blocking my left vision. there is basically a sun visor in my face all the time while driving, even if it is night - the most dangerous time. i have to constantly swing it out of my face, or out of the way - even just to get in or out of the car.

 I purchased my 2008 honda civic lx coupe on november 25th, 2009. when i purchased it, it had approximately 12k miles. in the summer of 2010, both of my sun visors broke. it appears that the swivel part of the visor wasn't lubed good enough and so it snapped the visors open. it broke the plastic part that help it all together. it has not been replaced. it costs about $50 each visor. dealer refused to replace it because it is not covered under their warranty.

 The fenders on this model of honda are merely tacked on. my car was lightly bumped four times and the fenders had to be repaired. they only have a minimum of connectors holding onto them. the old fashion bumpers would prevent this.

 I was driving my 2008 honda civic with my daughter, at a speed of about 50mph. i was attempting to make a stop for a traffic light. i realized that the car was not wanting to stop, i pressed harder on the brake. when it came to a stop, the engine was revving at high rpms, i let up on the brake slightly to see if the engine would shut down when it lunged forward. i slammed the brake down again and reached for the downshift, when at the same time the engine came down to an idle. the accelerator had obviously been stuck. i had stopped the vehicle over the white line with my nose out in the intersection. no one was in front of me & no one next to me, thankfully. i called a local honda dealer, made an appt for that afternoon. my husband and i were waiting in the customer area for about 5 minutes when we were informed by the dealer employee that the two mechanics had called in & said that they had duplicated the action i reported & that the car was unsafe to be on the road, for us to leave it & they would take care of it. the mechanic who drove it, confirmed it to me personally. the cars computer didn't register the two events. the dealer told us they couldn't fix it if the computer wouldn't tell them what to fix. honda's regional rep was called in on jan 10 & deemed it as safe to drive. (honda's rep deemed the car that the dealer employee had told us was unsafe to be on the road as being safe!). jan 10, we requested to speak with honda rep, jan 11, no contact from honda rep after service manager left 1 voice mail, 2 e-mails. (asked for reps #, refused) switched courtesy cars with dealer, requested the description of events on service ticket reflect the two mechanics statement about experiencing the stuck accelerator. jan 12, still waiting to speak with honda rep and revised service ticket. dealer still has our honda. i am concerned for the safety of myself & others if i drive it without honda repairing it. please help us resolve this.

 I have a 2008 honda civic ex-l. the car currently has 23,700 miles on it. i have been hearing a loud vibration noice on the back of the car for sometime now and after i just had myt tires rotated, i have found that the back tires have flat sposts on them. i have done some research and have found that many many other consumers are having this same complaint and have had no luck with honda in fixing the problem. from what i have researched it is because of the control arm that is making the tires wear out fas. i have contact the dealer and they state they are unaware of any such problem, which i find very hard to believe. some peopple have went to other dealers and were told that honda didnt feel this was a big enough problem for a recall. well if that is the case then why dont they fix these cars> are they wating for deaths to occure from faulty tires? i want my car fixed it is unfortunate, but i still owe 17000 on it and i dont want to just throw that money out the window if i have to be buyihng tires every few months.

 The paint on my 2008 hond civic si a few months after i bought it. the dealer told me that it was from rocks. there are paint chips on the car where it is not possible for a rock to hit it. they refused to fix the problem and said that a rep would contact me. i've been complaining about the paint for 2 yrs and have not heard from any honda rep. i've put touch-up paint on the car to prevent the car from rusting but the touch-up paint won't even stay on. when i first bought the car i had it simonized in the hopes that the paint would be protected. guess i was wrong and now i don't know what to do. my car is rusting out and it's only 2 yrs old.

 2008 honda civic. horn does not always sound. somestimes works with first attempt,but sometimes takes as many as 12 or more attempts. have taken to dealer varius times. they have not diagnosed nor repaired the problem. what happens when a child runs in front of my moving car and i cannot sound the horn-as an example?

 A/c failure in 2008 honda civic. dealer claims rock hit a/c condenser and punctured so coolant ran out. no warranty service available. suggested my insurance might cover. searched online and found many others with same issue, exact same diagnosis. seems to be design flaw where condenser exposed with no protective grill. or condenser made of faulty material and somehow failing with no rock involved at all. strange to see so many people with same diagnosis and honda doing nothing about it. at minimum, honda should recall to install protective shield for a/c condenser. instead, they'd rather charge $600+ to keep repairing them. instead of a recall / bad publicity / cost to honda, they'd rather keep riding this cash cow. what a win for honda!
