| Every time i start my honda civic hybrid from 2004 it shudders. i have spent more then the value of the car on repairs and fluid replacements which honda does not deem necessary to pay for. this car is a dangerous lemon. it sometimes shudders going onto highways and can even just stop before starting up again. i have had near accidents dozens of times because of this faulty car. honda made a bad car and even though people complain about it they will not issue a recall. each time they issue a warranty bonus to try to fix the problem the whole thing either gets worse or slightly better for 1000 miles. i feel like i'm dealing with a no good used car salesmen trying to bate and switch a hybrid. but this car was bought direct from honda. there needs to be accountability. i guarantee you that all users of 2003-04 honda's would be a part of this case as it is a pervasive issue among the majority of hch users. we are all angry, we all asked honda for help and we got no response. we are now looking to governmental intervention. please help us avoid accidents, lemon cars, and misleading advertisement. *tr | |||

| Situation 1: on this day, i was climbing the hills (not steep) to go to an observatory called lick observatory in my hometown. the battery drained completely and the gasoline engine failed to start, stalling my car and then sliding backwards towards the cars behind me. the cars behind me upon witnessing my slide backwards, started to honk at me very loudly. i instantly applied the brakes and somehow managed to slide backwards towards the shoulder. sometime later, after turning the keys several time, the gasoline engine started. and with much difficulty and at the expense of lot of gas i was able to continue to crawl towards the observatory. this was an extremely dangerous situation and could possibly be fatal because i could have lost control of my car and fallen off the hill. | |||

| From my driveway, i shifted from park into drive, and heard a loud whirring similar to a metal belt falling apart. it has continued to get worse of the year, and only shows up when in drive and now a bit in reverse. it is not present in park or neutral. the dealer replaced the clutch brake, but i still have the sound. i also have minor slippage, and i have read several others having the same complaint about their same model with replacing the transmission. when i was sold this car, a first generation hybrid, i was told it would last 200k miles without any major maintenance. i have had degraded fuel economy from 43mpg to 32mpg. i was told it would be 45-50 when i purchased it new. at 112,000 miles, i think this is a safety issue and a late reaction to a serious design fault. my model was recalled in japan for this issue, but it has not been recalled in the us. i won't let my wife or daughter drive this vehicle because of this issue. i am concerned that at any minute, my transmission can stop functioning. the dealer says the fix is to change the transmission fluid more often then originally advertised. this august 2012, the dealer wants me to replace it for $5k. *tr | |||
