On jan 8th 2011 i was involved in a wreck involving my 2005 honda crv lx model equiped with driver and passenger side air bags. it was a frontal impact at 35 to40 mph causing major damage to the front of the car which was totalled. the seat belts did their expected job but caused bruising to my wifes chest, stomach area and sternum (possible fracture). my complaint was the air bags did not deploy on either the drivers side nor the passengers side. i believe if this would have deployed my wife would not have suffered these type of injuries or would have lessened them. i called the local honda dealer to discuss this and he gave me some off the wall reason why they did not deploy even at a 35 to 40 mph front collision! the sensors on the front bumper area , radiator , engine and frame were damaged to the point they seemed to be moved back towards the passenger cab. these air bags should have deployed on impact but did not. i cannot find any customer help line for honda to report this. i feel that this should be investigated to see if this is a problem for this type of vehicle.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 honda cr-v. upon starting the vehicle she noticed a red light was illuminating on the dashboard. while having the vehicle serviced for routine maintenance by an independent mechanic she was informed the seat belt sensor failed and the air bags would not deploy in the event of a crash. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 77,989 and the current mileage was 102,000. sm.

The srs (safety restraint system) warning light came on in my 2005 honda crv with less than 18,000 miles on it. the light will not go out. the car has never been in an accident. the honda dealer has performed diagnostic tests that indicate that nothing is wrong and the air bags should deploy and seat belts should work in an accident. who do i believe -- the warning light or the diagnostic tests. i don't like driving a car that has a warning light indicating something is wrong with a safety system. *tr

Air bag sensor under right front seat not working properly. this was found when the dealership insisted i call in my insurance company to look at dampness in the car. i haven't had any resolution to the dampness/mold/mildew issue and no one has addressed the air bag sensor, other than a verbal notification from my insurance company. i've followed what the dealership has suggested in regards to the dampness/mold/mildew - removed the mats (right front was wet underneath with mold), keep the a/c on exterior circulation when the car is closed up & had the car detailed...none of which has solved the problem. they want me to guarantee payment of over $4000 to have the carpet removed, car 'dried' out & carpet replaced. *jb

In early november, 2011 a camaro ran a red light, and our 2005 honda cr-v crashed into the camaro. both of us were going about 30 mph. the front and driver side air bags all successfully deployed, however, the steering wheel airbag burst open and i got secondary burns to both my left and right wrists. the sleeves of my jacket-coat were fried stiff. the primary purpose of the airbag saved my life, but the malfunction of it bursting open, producing secondary burns, can probably be something that they can improve on.

On january 24, 2011, i was in an accident involving 3 cars. i rear ended a cavalier, which in turn rear ended the vehicle in front of it. i hit the car at approximately 40 mph. with no brake applied upon impact. no air bags deployed upon impact. the seat belt restraint retrained me from hitting the windshield but significant bruising and strain occurred from hitting the steering wheel. this is the 2nd rear ending that has happened with this vehicle and the air bags did not deploy at either occasion. currently, the vehicle is in the shop for repair with initial estimate of $6500 in repairs, with supplemental repairs as well. one of the supplemental repair was the driver seat belt restraint that is now overextended, thus causing a icon to display on the dash control panel. the driver seat belt will no longer retract and must be replaced by the auto body shop. significant front end, head on damage occurred to the vehicle. the front bumper and metal bumper supports were crumpled back towards the engine. the welded metal enclosure around the engine assembly was pushed back significantly, as well as the radiator and cooling condenser. the hood was crumpled back towards the windshield. the front bumper and grille were demolished and came off the vehicle upon impact. the air bag should have deployed and would have saved me from significant bruising and strain from the impact of the steering wheel. i am extremely concerned about my safety once the car is returned to me.

I had just come off the highway and turned onto a state road. i was slowing down for the upcoming intersection, when suddenly the car started speeding out of control and the brakes could not stop my car from slamming into the car in front of me. after the crash, the woman i hit pulled over to the side of the road. i put the car in drive with my foot on the brake and the car revved wildly. this was later noted by the woman i hit, as well. in desperation i turned the key off and let the car roll to the side of the road. the firemen disconnected the battery for safety. when the tow truck driver came, he reconnected the battery cables and the car started itself up and began to rev. the driver said he had never seen anything like it before. i have his name and number. the airbag never deployed and i was fortunate to only receive whiplash and my dog seems ok. the other driver has back problems but was fortunately driving a nissan xterra that did not get nearly the damage my car received. i am just so thankful that my children were not in the car, and that there were no pedestrians or children in front of me. *nm

On 2010 january 04 at 15:00 i was driving west in my 2005 honda cr-v on the ny state thruway in the left lane, when at mile marker 233.3 i received a head concussion from the side curtain airbag, which inflated but did not deflate. i was unconscious for some time, and i do not remember subsequent events. my car suffered extensive damage to the left front suspension, but no other people or vehicles were involved. the police arrived and arranged to have my car towed to a repair shop in oriskany, ny, and i was taken to a motel. ten days later the repairs were completed, and the defective side curtain airbag was preserved by the repair shop. *tr

While i was making a right hand turn into my subdivision, both of my side curtain airbags went off. there was no indication that this was about to happen, no damage to the car, no change in driving circumstances that would obviously trigger the airbags to deploy. i was able to drive the 100 yards home. i sustained minor injuries including air bag burn to left upper arm and temporary loss of hearing to the left ear. i subsequently developed a headache. i have been told by the manufacturer to have the car evaluated by a dealership, but that they would not cover the cost of towing at this time. *tr
