EA04027 | HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) | 09/09/2004 | 01/19/2005 | UNDERHOOD FIRES
In documents provided during ea04-027, honda identified a mechanism which causes the rubber seal (gasket) of the original equipment (oe) oil filter to adhere to the engine block of the subject vehicles.if an adhered seal remains when the oe filter is removed and a new filter is installed, a double gasket condition results.a subsequent rupture of the extraneous seal can result in oil contacting nearby exhaust system surfaces and a fire may occur.throughout its discussions with odi, honda has maintained that it is the servicing technician |

Parked in a spot in front of party city, foot was on brake and i put the car into park. removed my foot from the brake and the car accelerated into the building. when the car finally stopped because i hit a brick wall i went to shut the car off and it was still in park. i removed the key. fortunatley no one was injured, my 2 grandsons were in the back in their car seats and my daughter was in the passenger front seat. my car is going to be repaired by a honda dealer and i will stress what happened but do not feel confident that they will look for the problem. they will probably say that i am a crazy lady and must of stepped on the gas instead of the brake. i absolutely know that did not happen, the car took off on me. i almost felt like it went into auto drive. what can i do-this car is not safe!

My 2005 cr-v had the black death issue last may of 08. that seemed odd enough to me that a compressor would go that soon in such a reliable car. my whole family owns hondas. the dealer told me that it would cost 3200 to fix it. that my compressor exploded (lol, i am not an idiot, unfortunately for him). i immediately took it to my personal mechanic, who showed me the locked springs inside the compressor, and said it was indeed odd to see an ac failure that soon. after he fixed it up for 1300. i got a call from the honda serviceman offering to maybe work something out. well, with a small child. i could not afford to bargain for ac in may in south florida, so he was a tad too late. i did not know, until my compressor went out again today, that there was this issue and was known. i have contacted honda america, who were no help at all, and the dealer wanted to charge me 105.00 to diagnose it, and i would not be charged if i fixed it there. hmmm. honda america says they will only take estimates from honda dealers and not other state licensed mechanic. sounds very fishy to me!! i am now out ac (driving 40 miles to work at the tail end of the flu), and who knows how much money next. they are not willing to pay for it all they said already, and they hadn't even gotten a quote. i feel like i need to do something! i am so angered that they would just brush it under the rug like that. there are so many people out here that have the same trouble. i have signed the lawsuit petition, but not sure what to do next. i know it's october, but it's hot here in fl!!! any ideas?? at this point, i am definitely not buying another honda!!!! never thought i'd say that, but i can't afford to replace this thing every year, and neither should i!! *tr

2005 honda cr-v. condenser fan motor shorting out. some have even burnt wires in the harness to this motor. after seeing this problem on one of my customers cars and finding out that the dealers have seen several of these and even worse i seem to find this to be a large problem with honda's. *tr

The consumer experienced several mechanical problem with the 2005 honda crv ex. *nm the center bearing was replaced because it caused the vehicle to vibrate/noise while idling. the consumer still heard noise in the rear of the vehicle while driving at any speed. the technician said the noise was a characteristic of the vehicle. the vehicle runs rough with the a/c on. the dealer said this was normal. the consumer would like the manufacturer to replace the vehicle or proved a full refund since the dealer cannot find the source of the noise. the windshield wiper would drag across the windshield and failed to clear the windshield of rain. *nm

I took my car for a wash and while i was waiting for my turn, i started hearing some noise coming from the engine-pitch sound. i got alarmed and i thought it will go. later when i drove home, i parked my car in the garage and the noise continued. on the 03 oct 05 the sound increased in pitch but i am unable to diagnose where its coming from. for those who are familiar with sonar sound(navy ships), the noise sounds the same and high pitched.*jb

Dt: the consumer owns a 2005 honda crv. the honda crv's have been prone to catching fire after oil changes and he has seen other complaints for this problem on the nhtsa website for the 2003 and 2004. he had his oil changed on 6-21-05 and his vehicle caught on fire on 6-23-05. while driving he stopped and looked back and he saw a trail of fuel for about 100 yards and 1ft and half wide until the vehicle stopped. the fire occurred in the engine compartment. the fire was first noticed from the engine compartment. there was no unusual activity noticed before the fire started. he thinks this might have been a fuel fire the fire department and police department suspected the same type of fire. *jb |
