The power door locks are malfunctioning. when unlocking the car to either enter or exit the vehicle, the car locks again automatically in less than a second. this occurs when using the remote to unlock the car as well as when unlocking the car from any door both outside and inside manually. in addition to this malfunction being a major inconvenience with nearly having locked myself out of the car numerous times (particularly at the gas pump and in store parking lots), it most certainly is a safety issue as well. it makes it difficult both entering and exiting the vehicle at any given time, let alone in the event of an emergency, especially with kids in tow.

Driver side door re-locks within 2 seconds of being unlocked by remote or door panel switch. door lock lever is then stuck in the lock position and cannot be manually over ridden nor can the door be opened from inside! battery voltage is ok. same situation whether engine is running or not. not sure what happens if there is a power failure, but it might be that the driver can not unlock the door and get out after a crash. nasty safety issue! *tr

Powers locks began to get stuck on passenger back door. they would re-lock immediately upon unlocking. this went on for about 2-3 months. after that, the locks on all doors starting locking and un-locking when driving slow, i.e., merging into traffic, driving through development, another 2-3 months. it now has stopped that and makes a horrible loud grinding sound when you lock and unlock the doors. i am worried that at some that the locks will quit working completely.

It started on the back driver's side door. it would not stay locked. it always popped back unlocked. every time i would push on the gas after being stopped a light or slowed down for a speed bump, etc. the doors all tried to relock to get that one door locked, but it would just pop back open again. then, in the last month my driver's side door started to do the same thing. now my locks have gone haywire. they are constantly locking and unlocking. when i turn my car off all the doors will lock. when i try to unlock them they automatically relock in 2 seconds. i have to always keep my keys with me for fear of them getting locked in the car. luckily i stuck a spare underneath the car because the next day my 1 yr old got locked in the car with my keys! today my locks are making an unearthly grinding sound every time they try to lock which could be 20 times just in one trip to the grocery store. i really would like the dealer to fix their own mistake. *tr

This thing happened over a year & now it even worse. all lock sys. will auto lock by themselves after i pressed unlock for 2 seconds; when i'm driving on the road, all four door-locks make the sound too loud with lock & unlock by themselves until i get home. i remember one time; when i took a flyer that stuck on my windshield before i drove home; suddenly, my door had locked by the wind. that made me crazy to find the way to open it because my little boy (10 months) was inside & being locked! i have to ask for help from a locksmith. for 20 minutes standing outside & see my little boy's crying without doing anything to help him!!!!!! now : both rear doors can not be locked! whenever i lock them by the remote or manually. but my front doors are keep locking after two seconds . i'm so worried that some day people will find out my secret ( about doors not locking) & my car will be gone! i asked the dealer to fix the problem. do you know how much to fix that ?? almost $ 400.00 per door (after tax) ! how can i handle that amount for things to be fix which they are not my fault! can some one tell me what should i do ?

Problem started with driver-side rear locks. would not always lock, constantly tried to relock itself while driving, and made rattling sound. problem has spread to all doors. driver side door will not lock at all. passenger-side rear lock will not unlock. hatch will not open. other doors relock themselves immediately so you have less than one second to open door. using the key itself makes no difference. *tr

Honda crv 2007 issue: doors when locked by either remote or via car would lock all doors except the drivers. honda did cover it the first time then a year later the issue happened again but this time was in the back passenger side. also the front center door light (right side) fails to turn on when you open the doors, it will however turn on when you press the button. even got a new bulb but issue remained. i use to think honda was a great car do basic maintenance and you should be set. this is not the case. there are two recalls on this car and honda has not even notified me of even one of those and when i called the dealer and asked about the power steering pump they didn't mention the recall but stated it would cost $600. tsb number & issue date tsb title 11-050 oct 11 recall - ecm/tcm updates to prevent a/t damage

Both of the front door locks actuators are not working properly. some times when you try to unlock the car the doors won't unlock, in other occasions when you try to lock the car the doors stay unlocked. this is causing the alarm to arm itself and when you open the door the alarm goes off, the only way to turn it off is with the control remote. some times the alarm gets armed while we are in the car and it won?t start due to the defective door latch actuators. in various occasions the doors remained locked while we were in the car. the unlock button does not unlock the doors, even trying to unlock the lock manually wont work. the actuators stay locked!!! i?m pretty sure the back doors will start failing too any time soon. this is definitely a safety issue. honda needs to put out a recall to this problem right a way, or maybe they waiting until someone dies to do something about their poor parts quality. *tr

Front doors started locking automatically. after approx. 9 months all doors started locking automatically. all doors would lock immediately after engine was turned off, locking all occupants inside. would lock when car was idling in park and was unable to open doors manually with key from outside. car was stolen then recovered. whatever was used to steal it must have reset computer. because for approx.1 week after recovery door locks worked fine. now it is back to the problem as before. my 1 yr. old grandson was locked in the car for a brief time due to this issue, luckily one of the rear windows was down and my daughter crawled thru. i have read there is a recall for this problem on 2006 honda crv, but not for the 2007. it is possible that left over defective parts from 2006 models were used in 2007. i am told i could have to pay up to $900.00 to repair this problem. i not only don't have the money, but i don't accept that it should be my problem. it's not like it's from wear and tear or misuse of the vehicle. this is my third honda i've owned, and my last unless someone would at least acknowledge there is a problem here. thank you *tr

When driving the vehicle, the automatic power door locks are supposed to engage when the car reaches approximately 10 mph, while driving my vehicle, this does happen but after the door locks engage, both rear doors on my vehicle unlock for no apparent reason. this appears to me to be a safety issue as i have 3 small grandchildren and i am afraid to allow them to ride in the back seat of my vehicle for fear that they may open the doors while the vehicle is moving and even though this vehicle is equipped with childproof door locks, i will not totally rely on this as the only method to securing the doors. i have spoken to honda on a couple of occasions in this matter, but they seem to attribute it to a wear and tear or electrical issue and even though they agreed with me that this was a potential safety issue, they did not seem to take my concerns seriously.i have also discovered that the 2006 honda cr-v was recalled for the exact same problem and as early as a few months ago the 2012 honda cr-v along with some acura models are being recalled for these defective power door lock mechanisms.i replaced the front door mechanism in 2009 only to have both rear door mechanisms fail at the same time a short time later. i find it hard to attribute the failure of two individual parts to fail at the same time to a case of wear and tear or an electrical issue. i feel that these parts are failing due to an inferior design and i would like for this matter to be investigated. thank you. *tr

The vehicle began resetting door locks whenever vehicle was stopped and accelerated through 6 or 7 mph. so far it is just the front, right passenger door, but based on hundreds of other complaints it seems like it will onl be getting worse. this is very unsafe because i live in a city and anyone could easily jump into the car and hijack the vehicle. this puts everyone in danger of being harmed and puts my car at great risk of theft. it is ridiculous that this has not gotten a recall when it has been a problem for years. i only have 34,000 miles on my car. there is no reason why my car should be experiencing electrical problems. i have to manually lock the door and even when i do it still reopens itself sometimes. this seems to be a common problem. the government needs to get involved. these car companies should not be getting away with selling defective products. they should take responsibility for selling a defective product. toyota was not penalized until people started dying. it is only a matter of time before a honda owner becomes the victim.

When checking washer fluid, i noticed the fluid was not visible, so i added the proper fluid. as nothing happened, i looked under car, & the washer solution was running out on the concrete floor, as i poured it into jug. upon further examination, i found pieces of the tubing that had been chewed on, and in some areas, chewed completely through. one of these areas i was able to access via a plastic door, about 12 inches wide, by about 2 inches in height, located under the hood, in the center of the firewall, just below the windshield wipers. i found pieces of tubing in this area, also. looking further, i found insulation that mice had moved from an unknown area, to make their nest. with some difficulty, i finally received a call from a honda rep, in california. after about 25 minutes of discussion, in a peaceful manner, i was not offered any solution to the mice problem, as i was trying to get honda to help me determine where the point of entry was located at, in the car body, that would allow mice to gain entry. as a former auto mechanic, & a sructure aircraft mechanic, i planned to make the repair myself. (the insulation movement could be affecting the a/c & heating systems, also). later, i found both of the wires to the left clearance light had been chewed completely through, wire & all. i later read on a web site, that the wiring insulation was made out of recycled food material, such as the husks from corn, or pods from mature dried beans!! i. i consider the windshield washer problem a safety hazard, for sure. other mfg of asian cars could be using food grade wiring. if the mice can't be stopped, they could totally destroy these newer type cars, looking for shelter, with a built-in food supply. this should be considered a fire hazard, also, in my opinion, due to causing a short-circuit in the wiring systems.

Front driver and trunk doors power locks stop working. it seemed to be very common issue for honda cr-vs 2007 and younger. i was told by dilership to replace two latches would cost me stuggaring $500. it definitely seem to be the design problem. i am not sure why honda does not act to recall the part, forcing cutomers to pay for its shortcomings.

The hatch wouldn't open. noticed the back left door was stuck locked while other doors opened when unlocked w/key remote and manually from front drivers side door. so i manually opened the lock on the back left door which enabled the hatch to open. from then, the back left door wouldn't lock. noticed this while driving--my son opened door several times, luckily we weren't on the freeway and he was in a child seat. otherwise he would've flew out. the door sounded like it locked as it always did but didn't realized the back door wasn't locked.

2007 honda cr-v automatic door locks failing. one after the other, three(3) now. defective automatic door locks installed on this vehicle and i feel are a safety issue.

Rear driver door not locking. when all the doors are locked either using the remote or the master driver door lock button, the rear driver door returns to the unlocked state within one second of locking. it cannot be locked manually and does not remain locked if the button is manually held in place. i have read various complaints of the door locking system becoming faulty. why won't honda take ownership and do a recall! i am unfairly having to spend almost $250 to get the actuator replaced. door locks should come with a lifetime warranty just like seat belts! this is causing a theft hazard as well as a safety hazard for my child riding in the back seat!

Is the federal goverment going to sit on thier hands and wait for someone to die befor they take action.these door locks are unsafe and very much defective

At approx; 75000 miles the right front door lock started making a very loud chattering noise when you used your key remote to unlock or to lock.when the vehicle reached 10 mph during excellerating and decellerating this would also happen. now the driver side rear passenger door lock is doing the same thing.i'm afraid to let a child ride in the back seat or the front passenger seat.i was checking online for anything about this problem and came across a interesting web site that your dept; needs to look at.there are many other cr-v owners with this same complaint. edmunds.com>suvs>.honda cr-v>honda power door locks. this forum has some pretty consistent complaints about the honda cr-v door locks and there relevent safety.

Vehicle began resetting door locks whenever vehicle accelerated through 7 or 8 mph from stop. after awhile, driver side front and back doors would not lock automatically and intermittently the driver door could not be manually locked (heavy resistance when trying to flip latch). on a less frequent basis, the passenger side rear door would not auto or manually lock. for last several months the door lock solenoids fire like a machine gun whenever the doors are manually or automatically locked. some times they all lock, other times one or more of the doors won't. tolerated for many months as dealer wouldn't fix under warranty even though only 1000 miles and a few days past 12mo/36k coverage and didn't want to pay dealer estimated fix at up to 800 dollars. now starting to pick up grandchildren for after school care and need to fix. seems this problem has enough complaints to warrant recall?

Car would not start:no engine turning, no lights, etc. thought i had a dead battery, locked car to get help (via key fob) and lights went on acknowleding it locked. tried to start car again and it started fine. radio was blinking and had to enter radio security code like the battery had been disconnected. drove car home with no further problems. this morning car would not start again, followed the same process of locking and unlocking, lights come on and car would start (no blinking radio though). drove into work, stopped at intersection. when light turned green, started to drive (moved about 50 feet) and dashboard lit up and then car stalled and turned off. car would not start again. would not shift out of park. good samaritan messed with it and managed to get it into neutral so it could be pushed to side of road. said the emergency brake had been engaged which is why it would not shift from park? from side of road car started fine. i drove it home where now sits in the garage.

Before we actually knew what was happening we noticed a burning rubber smell right after we got my honda cr-v. thought maybe this the way it smells when we travel mountains. we live in a very mountainous area. found out after 83000 that there are numerous problems with premature failure of ac compressor. so then it happens the a c stopped working without any warning. the temp outside was over 107 degrees. i took the car the nearest garage, no honda dealers could look at my car for at least 1 week. so the garage i took it too sd that they noticed blue on the metal of the compressor housing and around the pulley. no wear or tearing on the belt though. the garage mechani c sd that the blue on the housing meant that the metal on the housing was getting really hot, which would acct or the smell of burnt rubber. i have not had repaired because my garage cannot find an ac compressor in north america. so luckily no accidents or fires but to me this is a safety hazard.

2007 honda automatic door locks maulfunction. in december 2010 the driver side and the back door began to malfuntion. honda made me pay for it and they reimbursed 1/2 since i was past warranty. now its april 2011 and here i am again the passengar side is locking then pops open again. it will not stay locked. i am at honda and it is going to cost $238.00 to repair. this is a defect in the door looks. it is also a safety issue. i feel open to carjackers as i cannot lock my doors. i drive children around, and i have no capability of securing my car and the items in it. they are making me pay first and then they might refund to me part of the fees. i feel i should not pay for any of their defects. i can request the old part for this last correction. if you want me to send it to you. i was told that the dearler ship had been replacing the door locks.

Honda crv 2007 ex 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder. the car does not start occasionally. the battery is fine. starter is okay. checked online forum to find the issue and fix. several people have logged same issue online. dealers don't know what is wrong. honda of america say that there is no problem. but clearly there is some issue in the engine immobilization or other electrical issue related to ignition. some one need to dig in to the issue and have it fixed by honda regardless of mileage. today (friday, march 05, 2010) again the vehicle does not start at all. the battery is fine since the lights and radio and other electrical components are working. seems like the some thing with the ignition electrical system. i have to tow away the vehicle to dealer and they need to diagnose the problem since it is not starting at all. *tr

There is a widespread problem on several japanese branded cars when driving at dusk. many newer vehicles (honda crv-civic, lexus rx-ls, nissan versa) with led or electro-fluorescent instrument clusters are lit anytime the vehicle is in operation. these vehicles may not be set to operate on auto on lamps. this leads to the assumption by the driver that the headlamps and tail lamps are on when really that may not be the case. after noticing this happen on a lot of honda/toyota/nissan cars of in traffic, i wondered why they have not recalled such vehicles yet. would there be the possibility to make a requirement for these automakers to place a warning light to warn them in these situations? it seems that american and european makes don?t have this issue. the problem also affects vehicles of japanese nameplates that have daytime running lamps. this low intensity beam also gives the driver the sense that the lamps are on, when they are at a low level, and the rear tail lamps are actually off. i have seen a large number of vehicles, with drls after dusk when is it not clear to the driver that there is a problem. after renting an 08 nissan versa, i too had this problem occur on several occasions when the lit cluster indicated to me that my lights were on, but in reality, i was driving around with my lights off, and i realized this 10 minutes after the fact. and i was only able to tell from the inside of the vehicle by toggling the switch on/off, because there is no feedback from the instrument cluster when these lamps are on or off. this is a problem that should be looked into and i hope recalls can be effectively proposed to prevent injuries or deaths from happening, as i do feel that this is a large safety issue that the japanese automakers have overlooked. thank you for your attention and seriousness of this matter. please comment on this issue, and help me track it so that it does reach the correct hands. *tr

My wife was driving her new crv with our newborn infant on the highway at 8pm. without any warning the car died and the dashboard went black. she was in the middle lane and almost got rear-ended by a semi trying to get to the right shoulder. she tried starting it and it caught after a few tries. what kind of crap vehicle is honda putting out? this is our first honda and it will be the last. we called brewster honda and they were very accommodating but they said they couldn?t find anything wrong. there is no way my wife and baby will get in that death mobile again. of course honda usa has never heard of this happening. i guess they need a lawsuit and some news stations to get their attention. it has also been in service for running very rough every few weeks but they didn't find anything with that either. it was bought in april 2007 and has 8500 miles. *tr

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - IGNITION

We purchased a new honda crv 2007 for my daughter in college in october 2006 from ed voyles honda, marietta, ga. in april of 2007 my daughter had trouble starting the car after it had been driven and left parked for a hour or more. she had to crank the engine for 10-20 minutes before the car would start. we documented the problem in e-mail to the dealership and took the car in on more than three occasions. they were unable to replicate the problem. during july 2007 we left the car at the dealership for three weeks for them to try and re-create the problem, they were unable to do so. the dealership consulted with the honda tech-line and they could still not recreate the problem. during the past seven months we have had this problem occurring more than 15 times to different drivers of the vehicle. on sunday 10-14-2007 in frustration i gave my car to my daughter to take back to college since the honda crv was proving to be too unreliable. on the day i drove the crv and sure enough after having parked the car for 3 hours it took me 24 minutes of cranking to start the car. once the car started i drove for two miles and then it just cut-out. this left me stranded in the middle of a busy intersection for 3 terrifying minutes of cranking the engine before it started again. we have now returned the car to the dealership and we have a rental from the dealership. the honda crv 2007 has proved to be very unreliable and as a parent i am concerned for the safety of my daughter driving this car. we have lost confidence in the vehicle and think that honda usa should now remedy the situation. in our estimation this car is a lemon and we are now considering our legal options under the georgia lemon law. by all rights honda usa should replace this vehicle with a new one. *jb

To begin, i recently purchased directly from manly honda, in marin county, ca, earlier this jan/feb of 2007 a brand-new 2007 honda cr-v exl, $28k. a first-time car buyer, i had paid in full using my hard-earned money what i believed to be a reliable, dependable and trouble-free car. alas, i began noticing some irregularities with the car soon thereafter. to name but a few, they are as follows: 1) a tapping sound in the back of my car; 2) a wet spot noted on the floor of my garage under the hood area; 3) intermittent inability to start the car whereby the battery light would come on; and 4) inability to accelerate, but sudden surge thereafter when driving. i brought my vehicle in to be serviced on monday, august 13, 2007. later that afternoon i received a call from sf honda, the service dealer, to advise that: 1) the tapping sound in the back of my car is due to a welding defect. having jacked up the car and removed all the back panels to the vehicle, they had determined that the defective weld or welds were located further within the vehicle and my car would need to be sent to an auto body shop to be further stripped apart to determine the number of defective welds in question. 2) a powder test performed on my engine had determined that it was a transmission leak and the entire transmission would need to be replaced. 3) they had yet to determine why my car would fail to start and the battery light appear; and 4) the sudden surging of my vehicle once i had stepped on the accelerator was due to the defective leak in the transmission. upon hearing this, i was flabbergasted. who would have thought that a brand-new car, a honda which is noted for its reliability, would encounter such problems? and at 3,158 miles? and simultaneously? what does this say about honda's quality assurance and manufacturing standards? *tr
