Defect SummaryHonda is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 accord, 2007-2010 cr-v, and 2005-2008 element passenger cars manufactured from july 1, 2004, through september 3, 2010. the outer race of the secondary shaft bearing may be broken during certain driving styles. a broken outer race may cause abnormal noise, the malfunction indicator light to turn on, and allow contact between the transmission idle gear and an electronic sensor housing within the transmission.
Consequence SummaryThis could result in a short circuit causing the engine to stall. additionally, broken pieces of the outer race or ball bearing from the secondary shaft may become lodged in the parking pawl resulting in the vehicle rolling after the driver has placed the gear selector in the park position. engine stall and unexpected vehicle movement increases the risk of a crash or personal injury to persons within the path of a rolling vehicle.
Corrective SummaryHonda will notify owners and dealers will update the automatic transmission control module software free of charge. the safety recall began on august 27, 2011. owners may contact honda automobile customer service at 1-800-999-1009.

 2009 honda crv. consumer writes in regards to a recall notice concerning a defect in the automatic transmission control module software *tgw when the consumer called the dealer to inquire about recall # 11v39500, he/she was informed his/her vehicle was not included in the recall.

 2009 honda crv. consumer writes in regards to recall *tgw the consumer stated the recall that was performed damaged his vehicle. the consumer stated he would let the vehicle warm up every morning as there was a soft idle. however, since the recall was performed the idle was rough and sounded rough and it took two times as long for the vehicle to quiet down. *jb

 2009 honda crv. consumer writes in regards to recall notice and repairs *tgw the consumer stated he local dealer refused to perform the recall due to a discrepancy in their files regarding payments. the loan officer processed the loan through american honda and due to their incompetence, they neglected to include themselves on the title which was received over six months ago and the title was mailed to pleasantville, ny vs. pleasant valley, ny. by then, the consumer had received a loan from her local credit union and the loan with american honda was paid in full. the consumer was informed she still owes for one month. *jb
