Accelerated out of an intersection, from a stop at a stop sign, car lost power, steering...coasted across intersection to a stop. called for a tow. while waiting, attempted to start car-it started. drove home and had it towed to dealer, examined for several days, could not find a problem to fix. same problem just occurred while car was in motion driving at approximately 30 miles per hour. car suddenly lost steering/power. got car to side of road. again, it restarted on its own after a few minutes. weather conditions cold and dry.

In the morning, i turn the car on and put the car into gear and begin to move. when i come to my first stop the car stalls out. this happens every morning. once i start the car back up it runs fine and does not stall out. i have searched many blogs and see that many people are having this issue. i would like a recall to be made for this since it seems to be a common problem on honda fit models 07/08. i have an appointment to have this looked at this week, however from my research it seems that people have had little luck with the dealerships. http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-trix-general-discussions/62360-fit-keeps-stalling-out.html please contact me and help me with guidance on how to proceed. best, spencer

At around 30,000 miles the vehicle started stalling when cold. we would start the car and before you could switch from park to drive the engine would stall. it has been getting worse ever since. we now have 100,000 miles on the car and now the car will stall when pulling from a stop which leaves us dangerously exposed in intersections on a regular basis. it seems like a simple problem of the car idling at too low of an rpm when cold, however honda insists there is no problem. we had taken it to honda a few times while still under warranty. honda insists there is nothing wrong because no engine codes are coming up. we have replaced all spark plugs and all ignition coils and that did not fix the problem. honda even had the car hooked up to the computer while it stalled and still insists there is nothing wrong with the car. the car is no longer under warranty so we will be taking it to an independent mechanic to see if the problem can be properly diagnosed.

We replaced the spark plugs & air filter on our 2007 honda fit about a month ago and right after replacing these items the check engine light came on so we had a mechanic pull the code & he stated that one of the spark plugs was loose so it was tighten & the light went off. now the light is back on so we took it to the honda dealership & was informed that we need to replace the catalytic converter & that it is not covered on our warranty. we don't understand how a catalytic converter could have already gone bad. honda is wanting us to pay them over $1,300 to replace it.... we believe this to be a rip off and need some answers!!! we are still making monthly payments on this vehicle & now they want us to spend that kind of money on a repair that is not our fault. i am seriouly considering take the vehicle back to the dealership & telling them to keep it!

Vehicle was fine when new. after approximately 45,000 miles the vehicle began stalling after a cold start up. vehicle would start fine but then stall after a stop as at an intersection. this would occur on any cold engine start-up. the normal pattern would be you would come to a stop at an intersection and the engine would be idling fine. however, when you stepped on the accelerator and the vehicle would just start to move into the intersection and the engine would stall leaving you dangerously stranded in traffic. after the stall the engine would restart. this has not resulted in an accident yet but there have been some close calls. car seems dangerous to drive in traffic until it is warmed up. no check engine light ever occurred. problem was reported to a honda dealer who told us fits have no drivablity problems. dealer service people drove car, but only when it was warmed up and could not find a problem. as there were no trouble codes they said there was no problem. stalling continues and worsens with time. i have called american honda to request help with this but it is not resolved. i have read of many other owners of 2007 fits having the exact same issue but few seem to know what to do to fix it.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda fit sport. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power, sputtered, hesitated, and performed as if a cylinder was misfiring. when the rpms exceed 3,000, the contact must slow the vehicle down so that it will drive normally. the vehicle has been at the dealer for one day. they performed a diagnostic, but found no failures. the vehicle is in the same condition and the contact does not feel safe driving. in addition, the coil packs need to be repaired, which he assumed to be the cause of the failure. the spark plus have already been replaced. the coil packs are on backorder and no one has the parts available. the hesitation of the vehicle has been occurring for approximately one year. the failure mileage was 45,000 and current mileage was 112,000.

At 6:00 pm last friday, i drove my 2007 honda fit over a low-lying parking barrier left out in the middle of a parking lot. upon hitting the barrier, my engine rpms went out of control and the car would not stop in spite of the fact that i had my foot jammed on the brake. to avoid crashing head on into a concrete wall, i turned and hit a parked car. my own car did not stop until it was high-sided on another, properly placed, parking barrier. the car has been towed and i am not aware if the defect has been identified or repaired. *jb
