Defect SummaryVehicle description: minivan. in extremely cold, wet weather, ice can form in the throttle body preventing the throttle return to the idle position. this could cause the throttle to remain open even though the driver has removed his or her foot from the accelerator pedal.
Consequence SummaryIf the vehicle contains to maintain speed when the driver is expecting the vehicle to slow, a crash could occur.
Corrective SummaryDealers will drill two additional drain holes in the bottom of the resonator.
NotesOwner notification began june 17, 1999.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact honda at 1-800-999-1009. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

 Tl- the contact owns a 1999 honda odyssey. while driving, the contact stated that the vehicle would stall at any time; the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the dealer and manufacturer were notified, but denied any assist to the failure. the failure was not repaired. the failure mileage was 140,000 and the current mileage was 142,000. nw

 1999 honda odyssey ex. 65,300miles. the check engine light on. code p0740 faulty trans. when start acceleration the first gear is slippery and the driver feels kick-back. especially when drive on free way it takes time to speed up from the fist gear to the next gear. *tr

 Dt*: the contact stated while driving 20 mph on dry asphalt roads, the vehicle did not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed all the way to the floor. there was no response. the vehicle was pulled to the side of the road, and all the warning lights illuminated. it was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to duplicate the problem.*ak updated 10/30/2006 - the dealer replaced electrical parts. the recalled part had been previously replaced when the recall was receibed about two years ago. *nm

 While driving and applying brakes vehicle will continue to accelerate, causing damage to bumper. dealer has been notified.*ak

 Transmission failing. clutch engages late and suddenly: engine revs as gas is applied but clutch doesn't engage, then clutch engages suddenly, causing car to jerk forward hard. this is dangerous--can't pull out into traffic, because i don't know if car will actually go when i step on the gas, and car coasts as transmission tries (but fails) to shift between e.g. 1st and 2nd. please require a recall on this--many people have reported the same problem in auto newsgroups on the internet. this is clearly a manufacturing defect, and a potentially serious safety problem as well.*ak

 Upon applying the brake the vehicle suddenly accelerates and is hard to hold with the brake requiring a shift of gears or turning off the engine, the vehicle was returned to the dealer on three occasions but the dealer has been unable to permanently repair the problem. nlm

 While going up a mountain engine check light came and consumer kept driving. vehicle would not go foward, it kept going backards. consumer feels this is very unsafe, especially for their kids.*ak

 Consumer received two recalls 99v-158000 and 99v157000, concerning honda/sliding door latch, and honda/air intake resonator; dealer been notified and still informing consumer of no parts received. seeking nhtsa help in this matter before injury or even death may occur because dealer not taking mfr. recall seriously. *ak
