My honda odyssey (year 2000) stopped at a traffic light, then when green light was on, it roared big time at very high rpm, and moved very little. lots of cars behind me. after about a minute, my car suddenly moved, and moved as normal as usual. since then, especially when it is cold, my cars moves very teeny-tiny bit after a stop, and then suddenly pull forward. the situation is even worse if my car stops at bottom of a hill, then climbing up the hill after that is a big challenge. i was told it is probably transmission problem, there was a recall. but honda dealers said honda does not share any cost if i replace the transimission system (about $4000) which is recommended by the dealer, because it is out of warranty period, even though the mileage is now just a bit more than 70k.

This vehicle has encountered numerous engine and transmission problems since we acquired it in 2006. the transmission failed at just over 100,000 miles. after a huge fight with honda they reluctantly agreed (because it was just outside of the warranty extension for this known defect) to pay half the cost of the repair. check engine lights continued to come on, in addition to other issues, including egr problems, despite replacing the egr, etc. the vehicle is now at approximately 165,000 miles and the transmission has failed again!! *tr

I have bought my used odyssey in january 2012 from a dealer and the transmission failed at 107,000 miles. i know there was a recall in 2004 that had the warranty up to 100,000 miles and an approved class lawsuit in 2006 that extended the warranty up to 109,000 miles. therefore, my van is still under the warranty since its at 107,000. i strongly request that this issue is resolved as soon as possible and that honda fixes and pays for the repair; or at least give me a call and discuss the matter. it is not possible for me to pay for the transmission entirely because i am a student and i simply cannot afford it. thank you. *tr

Check engine light on. dealer reveals code p0420. they (russ darrow milwaukee, wi) are saying that the catalytic converter as well as an o2 sensor need to be replaced cost $1,200. the current mileage is 110,000 and failure mileage was 91,000 and i am the original owner of the vehicle. sticking sliding door's in winter (russ darrow & david hobbs milwaukee, wi) have all the serivice records on the sticking door issuse and they where unable to resolve it. dealer's fix for sticking sliding door was to lube the sliding door every winter instead of finding a solution. this has been on going since 2002 and now i just lube the door's my self instead of wasting my time at dealer's service center.

In may 2005 the transmission on this 2000 odyssey failed and was replaced by our local dealer at no charge under the directions of service bulletin 02-062. the mileage at the time was almost 72,000 miles. we had heard that there had been transmission problems and we thought that the 2005 replacement would have solved the problem. now, after another 68,000 miles, the replacement transmission has failed. this replacement odyssey transmission failed after sunset at about 7:00 pm on an unlit two lane country road with little room or opportunity to park safely. my husband, who is almost 70 years old was driving and with no gears barely managed to pull over to the side of the road. it was still dangerously close to the road, but fortunately another driver stopped and helped my husband push the odyssey a few extra feet to a slightly safer area. we were about 100 yards from a curve where approaching cars could not see us until they were almost upon us. the only protection we had was our emergency flashers. we were approximately five miles from our home in a very rural area with no close services. we had to wait on the side of the road for almost two hours for a tow truck to arrive. it was a very dangerous and frightening experience. since we have always been meticulous in dealer recommended and provided maintenance, i have no doubt that inadequate and/or shoddy honda replacements parts are responsible for this failure. that failure put both my husband and myself in a disturbing and perilous situation.

I have a check engine light for p0401 code for clogged ege system and p1739 for the transmission code my transmission was already replaced this is the 2nd transmission from honda.on august 2010 my check engine light came on i took the car to pep boys.they pulled up the 2 codes p0401 and p1739 for clogged egr system and transmission code.i replaced the egr valve and still the same code came up.my car is now out of warranty and there is a service bulletin that has to be performed to unclogg the egr system that is to honda bulletin 00-009 to drill a hole in the manifold and install a pipe.this should have been done under waaranty it is a known defect.the transmission is also bad a gain because it has the p1739 code.i want bothof these fixed under the warranty.

We are the original owners of 2000 hoonda odyssey (80k miles) and few days back the check engine light came on and the delaer is saying that the transmission needs to be rebuilt and neither honda nor the dealer would pay any of it. searching in teh web, now i see that there were many such cases- so this seem like a known issue and so i'd like honda to take responsibility and fix the issue for free or give some financial assist at the least. is there something i can do to get help? thanks.

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 honda odyssey. while driving at an unknown speed, the contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. the failure began in 2006. the dealer advised the contact that since she had fueled the vehicle that may have triggered the light to illuminate. in 2007, the contact noticed that the vehicle would violently jerk. she was informed to take the vehicle in for diagnostic testing, which was not performed due to cost. in november 2010, the dealer performed a diagnostic test which concluded that the transmission, catalytic converter, stabilizer and links, front motor mount, right side motor mount, and alignment all needed repairs. the manufacturer referred the contact to the nhtsa to file a complaint. the current mileages were 116,000 and the failure mileages were unknown. bw

2000 honday odyssey w/40,000 miles. check engine light came on. took it to the dealer who advised it was unsafe to drive as the catalytic converter was plugged and would overheat. two weeks later the part came in and they then advised that the oxygen sensors were also bad. are these under emission warranty?

Engine check light keeps coming on. many honda mechanics have input to this problem. check code indicates that the solenoid bypass and the two way valve within the emission system have gone bad. we were being blamed for overfilling the gas tank. we do not do this. finally mechanics find anothed check code indicating the fuel filler neck has a vacuum leak. once they replaced filler neck, no further problems were encountered. dealership was vann york honda in high point nc.

Check engine light on about a week after service. advise from dealer to drive vehicle and fill tank a couple of times and light should go off. result 1 month later light still on. in for service at dealer reveals code p0420. they (dobbs honda tucson az) are saying that the catalytic converter as well as an o2 sensor need to be replaced cost $1,200. vehicle has 95k miles. this exceeds the 80k emission control warranty. however, i this case these items had been replaced at 75k miles in may of 2004 but it is now december 2005 and the vehicle is past the 1yr/12k miles repair warranty. i have appealed this problem to dealership management and the are talking to american hondas western region manager as i am writing this, so i don't know if they will decide to cover the repair or not, but what about the next time. after reading various honda forums it appears that there has been problems with this on other models as well (accords). please consider asking honda to extend the warranty on these emission devices and figure out some solution to prevent recurrence of the problems. thanks. *nm
