The 2001 honda odyssey started having problems of stalling while driving on 01/15/10. when the problem occurred again on 01/20/10, we brought it to a honda dealer for examination. the dealer had it for nine days until 01/29/10 but was unable to make a diagnosis. on 01/29/10, we took the vehicle back. on 02/03/10 and 02/04/10, the stalling recurred so we brought it back to the same dealer. now, having been unsuccessful to make a diagnosis, the dealer notified us that they would not make any more attempts to repair the vehicle. *jb

For the past 2 years we have been experiencing a raw gas smell in the cabin of our 2001 honda odyssey. we have taken it in consistently over this time. they smell it too but can't find it. we have paid to have repaired everything they have said it was and the problem continues. google shows about 4800 posts for the same problem. honda of america says they are done looking for the problem and says too bad. the smell lasts about 2-4 minutes and happens sometimes every day, sometimes twice a week and sometimes will skip a couple of weeks. when we have friends in the car, they are all afraid as we are that the car will catch on fire. it leaves us sick to our stomach and head. *tr

I drive a 2001 honda odyssey and i have 50,000 miles. now i have to replace my gas tank and alternator. when i call the manufacture they say i had to drive the car to a dealer my car was already at a repair shop. tank was broken in half and all my gas was leaking. i had been driving around for who knows how long with this problem i drive four children at all times. when i was going to purchase this van, i did a lot of research and i choose this vehicle because it was the most reliable car. i am very upset with the fact that i have to put so much money into this car to replace parts that should still be in great condition.*jb

A thumping sound eminates from inside the fuel tank when it is full to half full. the service department at the dealer where the vehicle was purchased was notified. i was informed that this is not an isolated incident. many other odyssey owners have expressed concerns about this. honda claims there is no problem with the vehicle as this is part of the design. a vehicle in this price range should not have annoyances of this sort.

This happens mostly when the vehicle is started from a standstill to move out of the driveway, for example. once underway, the problem is no longer noticeable. i have contacted the service department at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased. i was told that this is a normal occurance in this vehicle as it was designed that way. honda says there is no need for concern. i feel this is a concern. i purchased this vehicle after many months of research and feel that i was not fully informed by the literature that has been published. no where was it written that this was a common occurence in this vehicle. had it been, i may have considered a different vehicle to suit my needs. no safety defect described. *ak
