Front engine mount is broken on honda odyssey. there seems to be a lot of owners of honda odyssey that report this problem when i serached the interent. i would like dot to research this issue as experts in this field and determine if there is sufficent number of cases to open a case on this issue. i am getting this work done in the next few weeks. this is not a mechanical part and should not be broken or worn out.

We have a 2001 honda odyssey lx. the power sliding door on the passenger side suddenly quit working and will no longer close properly. the only way we have been able to continue driving the car without the incessant alarm is to shut off the power sliding door function and try to keep it shut. there are several potentially big problems with this. number one - the kids cannot open the door manually, it is too heavy for them. the only option they have to exit the car is on the traffic side of the vehicle. the door will suddenly become ajar when we are driving, even with the locks closed, which is also a huge safety factor. i have tried to get this problem fixed professionally numerous times and i cannot get a satisfactory answer to what the problem is. i cannot sell this car in good conscience with an issue like this. *tr

My air conditioner in my 2001 honda odyssey stopped blowing cool air, so i took my van in to my dealership. i thought it would be something simple. but, apparently a rock must had hit my condenser and caused a leak. my condenser had to be replaced which ended up costing $750. this was a 5 hour job. i believe that this is a manufacture defect and have researched this issue. there are alot of other honda odysseys that have had this problem. *nm

The vehicle experienced the following: out of alignment, loud bang/ticking, shaking, engine hesitation, inoperative a/c, a contaminated filter with metal shavings, a/c drain tube was rubbing and draining on the steering rack boot, coolant reservoir was empty and the right front seal on the body was damaged due to it being improperly placed, a/c knob was broken, the a/c airflow automatically changed, when the a/c blower motor speed decreased, various dash lights would dim, the hood latch was defective, static shock problem, there was a coolant smell, due to the reservoir fluid level, the sliding door was inoperative, the transmission was defective, the crankshaft pulley and the steering wheel vibrated, the right door seal had come apart, the splash shield clip was missing, the idle speed fluctuated from 750 to 2000 rpm with the vehicle in park/neutral, and immediately after, the mil light had come on. the repairs are as followed: wheels aligned, a/c condenser and compressor evaporation dryer, intake manifold, reinstalled rear evaporator/heater unit, installed a drain tube in the retainer bracket, hood latch was replaced, pcm replaced to solve the transmission problem, removed the broken bolt from the block, the crankshaft pulley vibration is still unresolved, and the slash shield clip has been replaced. *mr scc *jb

Sliding doors: one door stopped opening all together, so passengers cannot get out on the drivers side in the back, creating a safety hazard. the passenger side sliding door opens but the alarm sounds when driving, so the master switch in on the front must be in the off position in order to drive. this makes the door inoperable unless the switch is on, and this must be done manually every time the door needs to be used, creating a safety hazard in an emergency.
01/08/2011119725
Power sliding doors under normal conditions are not manually operable. automactic door function is activated with door handles, from the dash, or from the key fob. these functions alternately work poorly or not at all. on a snowy & icy day one door quit completely and could only be opened and closed manually. then the other door also. researching the issue led me to user posted online instructions involving various combinations of pulling fuses and turning switches. after pulling the battery cable and leaving it off 1 minute, then restarting the engine, the door function was restored. aside from normal operation being a potential safety issue in the event of an accident or emergency, the system is subject to failure that can be a costly visit to a repair shop or dealership. i hope later models of the odyssey have an improved system in place.

My 2001 honda odyssey minivans power sliding doors stopped working while visiting my sister in aurora, colorado around dec. 26, 2009 because it snowed there overnight. my brother-in-law looked up if this problem was mentioned online. the problem was mentioned and they said you have to disconnect a battery cable then reconnect the battery cable so it will reset the electronics for the power sliding doors. sure enough that fixed the problem and the sliding power doors started working again. we waited for the sun to come out before doing this. *tr

2001 honda odyssey: the sliding side doors intermittently stick shut for no apparent reason, and they will not open until they decide to cooperate. this, to my mind, is a very serious safety concern as people in the vehicle would not be able to exit, and emt personnel would be greatly hindered in extracting victims of a crash. this condition can and does obtain for days at a time until, suddenly and for no apparent reason, the doors will start to operate normally. *tr

2001 honda odyssey minivan power sliding doors keep failing especially in icy conditions. several times i have had my children in my car when the doors failed to operate fully. i had to crawl to the back through my front doors to reach my very young children to put them in and out of their car seats. then i needed to drive home in icy conditions with the door partially open next to one of my children. in addition, one of my children has a medical condition that makes getting to them as quickly as possible very important for their safety. these power doors are simply hazardous and there should be a recall to fix these. from the discussions on owner forums, this is happening to quite a lot of people with this model of car across a wide range of years. after spending a couple of hundred dollars with the dealer to try to fix this, the dealer gave me a new 'fix'. i need to remove a fuse for 30 seconds and then replace the fuse. the doors needs to be 'reset' i.e. it appears to be a design defect in a sensor rather than an actual physical part needing replaced. i have replaced nearly every part of one of my sliding doors and still continue to have this problem after it has been icy. usually my husband can manually operate the door after this has happened, but i am not as strong as he is and i cannot fully open or close the door. resetting the door by removing the fuse for 30 seconds makes the door start working again until the next occurrence. until recently, my dealer did not tell me the trick with the fuse so when this would happen, i would be forced to drive my children home with the door partially open. *tr

We have a 2002 honda odyssey the sliding doors will continue going no matter what is in the way. on several occassions i have been put my kids in their car seats and the door starts to close. the door would have crushed me if i did not jump out of the way. if that would have been a child it would kill them. i would think the mini van would have some kind of sensor on the doors but it doesn't. *tr

Honda odyssey minivan power side doors short out regularly and will not open or close automatically. the doors will still function manually but require a strong adult. youths have trouble opening the doors. this poses a safety hazard. this is a common problem with this type of vehicle and requires regular visits to the mechanic to keep the doors operable. *tr

Honda 2001 odyssey ex. 1. door would buzz and not shut completely. both power sliding doors of minivan. 2. had children who were trapped and had to climb out of the front passenger seat to get out of the van. also, had to drive down the road with the door partially ajar. 3. fuse #13 was pulled, doors were lubricated. honda then told me it was the motor. then a day later when both doors wouldn't work they said it's the contact pins that need to be replaced. *jb

The automatic sliding doors both stopped functioning. i learned that they could be reset by removing fuse #13 for a few seconds and replacing it. this worked until it happened again several months later. this time it didn't help. now one door works but because the other doesn't i have to turn off the auto-door switch because it buzzes constantly. i have also had the clock light burn out and my honda mechanic (who specializes in hondas) cannot remove the cover to replace it. i have had several other warning light incidents that may or may not be electrical problems. *nm

Early in 2002 i begin having difficulties opening the passenger side sliding door on my honda odyssey. i took the van to the local dealership and was told i must not be closing the door correctly. in june 2003, i returned to the dealership- at that time they replaced the rubber seal around the door, admitting other vehicles were having that problem. july 2005 the door again became difficult to open, the local dealership applied a spray that should solve the problem. by october 2005 some days the door would open, some days it would not. dec. 4, 2005, i was traveling home, alone, from church about 8:45 pm when all of the interior lights came on. i saw the door open signal for the passenger sliding door was on. it was dark, at a section of the county that i was not comfortable stopping at, so i drove for approx. 2 miles to reach an area where i felt safe to stop, get out, go around the car and close the door. i contacted honda on monday - if i want to pay for it, they will replace the seal again. i have called the honda 800 number they gave me at the local dealership, taken the car back to the dealership for them to look at it. because i refused to pay for a diagnosis (the individual on the 800 number said nothing about that during the first call) honda will do nothing. this door has been a problem from the first, i feel honda has never corrected the problem, just made it bearable for a while. it is unsafe. *nm

While exiting our 2001 honda odyssey minivan, my 2 year old daughter got her foot caught in the motorized door mechanism as the door was opening. i understand there is some type of sensor to detect an obstruction when the door is closing but there is no sensor to detect an obstruction when the door is opening. she had her foot pinched in the mechanism along the door sill. her foot was squashed. we took her to the emergency room where xrays did not reveal any damage; however, the doctor who examined her said that permanent damage may not be detected or noticeable until she is fully grown. we contacted honda's customer service to report the event. we asked that some sort of sensor be installed in future models or at the very least a warning appear somewhere in the car. we also asked that some sort of notification be sent to all owners of their vans with motorized doors. the representative from honda said that honda would not do that. *nm

The sliding power doors do not stop when they hit resistance. i was trapped between frame and door for a good 5 minutes in a large parking lot and could not get free until i finally wrestled the key remote out of a pocket and hit door open, otherwise, i was stuck. i could not move to free myself. i could not move the door. thank goodness it wasn't my child that got stuck (i had my 1 year old with me, and it was pretty scary for her to see me trapped). this is a reaccuring problem. the dealer says it's just the way the system works, it's not defective. evidently, the door won't reverse for an obstruction until it is 2 from closing (much smaller than a child's head or torso). this is a major safety issue. i had a bruised side. my brother-in-law (same make, model and year) - who's a big guy - got his arm trapped and bruised. we told yet another brother-in-law interested in same make, model, year - not to get the power door option ... it's too dangerous for the kids... and he didn't!! this is all very alarming for adults. i worry about the first child who will be seriously injured. something needs to be done. thank you.*ak

There has been no injury to report as of yet. i feel that the power closing doors are very dangerous. they exert a great deal of pressure before the pressure sensor kicks in and reverses the door. a child could reach up getting in the van, pull the handle and initiate the door to close. if he faltered, it would be very easy for a body part (ie neck) to get lodged in the door and the force mechanism would not be enough to reverse the door before injury or death to occur.*ak

The power sliding doors on this van do not stop closing very easily if an obstruction (ie a person) is in the way. the remote door open/close is very sensitive and easily trigerred. this can happen while someone is in the way of the door and a serious injury could result. this happened today to my wife and while she was only bruised from the incident, it could have been fatal if one of our small children was in the way of the door. if you turn off the power closer, the doors are almost impossible to close by hand. i feel that, like automatic garage doors, these doors should be much better at detecting obstructions and stopping accordingly.*ak

We own a 2001 honda odyssey mini-van which we purchased new in april 2001. we have been having problems with the gears shifting and took the vehicle to the dealer on a number of occasions only to be told there is no issue. finally, when the check engine light went on, the dealer conceded that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle has 77,000 miles and was still under the extended transmission warranty. however, the dealer than told us that the engine mounts need to be replaced as well. in reading the strings on the nhtsa odi website, it looks like this is a problem that exists across the 2001 models. i would recommend that honda and nhtsa began a recall of these vehicles and/or extend the warranty on the engine mounts and the transmission to 100k or 10 years. *tr

6.coolant system continued from odi #760344. this left splash shield loose, vibrating & at risk of coming off, causing risk of accident/injury. is it possible to require that honda service personnel attend additional in service training on automobile coolant systems? so that consumers are not exposed to preventable hazards, examples being: breathing coolant fumes, injuries from engine overheating, slippery surfaces & environmental dangers to underground water supplies from coolant run off. 7. right/left sliding doors-right/left sliding doors fail to open upon pulling of handles as designed. three times our vehicle was returned to dealership for above complaint, after service bulletin 00-0091 was issued before repair was completed as per bulletin. i have spoken with a number of other honda lx owners who stted they have same problem with being unable to open the sliding doors. when they took vehicles to dealership door seals were lubricated, but problem continues to exist. this is a safety issue as these vehicles are used to transport children to & from school and because the sliding door won't open, children must enter area of traffic flow to enter vehicle, increasing risk of injury. sliding doors can & will oen while vehicle is in motiion, due to inability to fully open/close sliding doors via handles as designed. 8.transmission-i complained of grinding noise when vehicle accelerates from 40to50mph. rpm's go up to 2000 upon acceleration, after reaching 50mph, rpm's drop to between1500 to 1700 and grinding is heard. explained to dealership numerous times & test drove with service advisor, was told he heard nothing & vehicle was operating as designed. after final repair/vehicle defect notification inspection/repair was performed, vehicle continues to have grinding noise at 50mph & was returned to us with tranmission shifter inoperable in d3, 2nd & 1st drive gears. we are notifying you of what we feel are the dangerous conditions in which our vehicle is in.
