The vehicle engine is shutting off with no warning. there have been approximately 6 instances of the vehicle being operated and then the engine will cut off. the first incident occurred in a parking lot when in reverse. there have been 3 incidents at low speed, while making turns, and 2 incidents while traveling at speed (one at 40 mph and one at 70 mph). the vehicle has been taken to the dealer on 3 occasions but the dealer has been unable or unwilling to address the issue because there are no codes sent to the on-board computer. the most recent incident on 3/6/2011 was while traveling at 70 mph on the interstate highway. we referred the service writer to nhtsa campaign id numbers 05v132000 and 07v097000 but he was unwilling to consider that our issue was related to either of these previously noted failures.

Have a 2005 honda odyssey van, it hesitates, or has a flat spot when accelerating at stop sign or traffic light. have had trouble soon after purchase, and does it way to often. had a 2002 odyssey which did the same thing so i replaced it with the 2005 and still have the same problem. yet the honda dealer tells me they have had no other reports about such a problem. at present it is at the dealers. they called me yesterday, and said they could not find the problem. i asked them to keep it a while longer and drive it and maybe they could find the problem. *tr
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - DELIVERY - FUEL PUMP
10/04/200614000607/02/2005
My wife was driving our 2005 honda odyssey lx van and it died on the highway. she was able to coast to the side, get it to start one more time and limp into a parking lot(it died at the entrance of the lot). the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they looked at it and could not duplicate the problem. it was presumed that it was possible bad gas, or a 1 time glitch. i was told i could pick the vehicle back up. not feeling comfortable with putting my wife and 1 yr old son back in the vehicle, i drove it 30 miles until the problem duplicated again. it died on a country road. i was told to wait a little bit and try and drive it in, it died several more times before finally dying on a bridge and needing a tow. after a few days the problem was finally tracked down to a faulty fuel pump relay. i was told this part was on national backorder which leads me to believe there may be more cars out there with this problem. if this occurs in the city during a left hand turn, it could have deadly results. i also wonder if this was related the fuse recall (my van was not included in the fuse recall). i am awaiting the part to arrive and be installed. *jb

Dt: contact took his car to the service dealership on 8-1-05 because heard a bubbling noise coming from the rear of the car. dealership said it was vibration that was coming from the fuel tank. the consumer asked for a loaner vehicle and the dealership said it was safe to drive, and would not give him a loaner. the dealer could not give contact a specific time when the car will be repaired, and they wanted him to drive around with this fuel tank problem. manufacturer said if the dealer felt it was safe, there was nothing they could do. the dealership claimed there had been other hondas with this same problem.*ak
