I own a 2007 honda odyssey ex-l. had vehicle in the shop today for pa state vehicle inspection and the vehicle failed due to a broken front and rear engine mount. vehicle has 66,000 miles on it and is only 6,000 miles out of extended warranty. this appears to be common problem as seen from other posts on the internet ...so much so that the mechanic certainly was aware of it to find in less than a 5 minute look at the vehicle without a driveability complaint by me. nhtsa should investigate this common safety failure mode for the honda odyssey. costs to repair totaled $1001.84 ($722.99 parts and $278.85 labor) to repair this safety issue found during state safety inspection. *tr

The vehicle is burning 1 quart of oil in between 600 and 800 miles. i now change the oil every 3000 miles. the computer still shows that i have upwards of 40% of the oil life remaining when changing the oil.my mechanic(not honda dealership) has tried contacting honda but gets no solution. i have tried contacting dealer but they say that a quart of oil every 600 miles is normal. car stalls out when under 2 quarts of oil. honda recalled years after my odyssey with same issue but has not recalled my year. same engine and computer, same problem. *tr

2007 honda odyssey. consumer states problem with vehicle brakes *tgw the consumer stated the brakes emitted a squealing and grinding noise on a regular, but not constant on a basis when braking or turning. the dealer informed the consumer the brake problem had been rectified. however, the next day, the consumer noticed when he applied the brake in excess of 60 mph, the van would vibrate and shimmy. he also noticed a constant and unusually loud washing-machine-agitator type noise which became louder while riding in the middle seat area. the consumer stated the entire van vibrated so violently when he applied the brake at speeds of 60 mph and over he became extremely concerned about maintaining control of the vehicle. the consumer took the vehicle to another repair shop, where it was recommended that the rear motor mount, rotors and brakes be replaced. the consumer was also informed that one of the tires was badly worn. *jb

Dera sir: we bought this vehicle (honda odyssey, 2007) in may 2007 in michigan. since last 18 months, we have been experiencing serious issues with this vehicle. one issue was power steering (not able to maneuvering), i went to manchester honda, machester, ct. they changed the power steering unit twice in the last 12 months (i purchased extenede warranty, otherwise it would have been an expensive thing for me). again, i had same issue this week, then i went to joyce honda, denville, nj. they mentioned right side inner and outer tie rods loose and were completely worn out. they did mentiioned to me that it is dangaerous to drive this vehicle. they kept my vehicle overnight and installed a new part. i believe there is serious flaws in the design of this particle year model. today i am experienceing different problem, shaking engine at 40 mph. they did update the software but still there is problem in this vehicle. i apreciate if nha would take a look into this matter. i almost spent more than $10000 on this vehicle and i realized i bought a piece of junk from honda which i thought was a reliable maker.

Engine warning light began blinking. minivan could not accelerate above 55 mph., and it shook and sputtered as speed increased. seemed necessary to let of the accelerator to allow the engine to shift and increase speed. knocking sound coming from the engine area. told by honda dealer that spark plug had been removed by someone causing damage to threading in coil/cylinder head. highly unlikely that anyone accessed engine or spark plugs in this timeframe. service tech is machining new threads into coil/cylinder head. this is a very costly repair.

Tl- the contact owns 2007 honda odyssey. when the contact started the ignition there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were unable to diagnose the problem. the vehicle was involved in a previous crash and the technician stated the failure could be a result of the crash. the vehicle has been at the dealer for two weeks and no repairs have been done. failure mileage was 42,000. ds

Tl- the contact owns 2007 honda odyssey. the vehicle stalled while driving in the rain. the instrumental panel illuminated while the failure occurred. he noticed the vehicle stalled only when it rains at any speed. the dealership advised the vehicle needs to be diagnosed. the manufacturer advised the vehicle was out of warranty. the vehicle will be taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 48,007. li

Honda odyssey 2007 defective oil drain plug honda's drain plug is defective in that it generates permanent leakage upon its removal in the event of an oil change. honda is acknowledging this defective condition of the drain plug, and is requiring the consumer to bear the burden of its defective product by requiring the recurring purchase of these replacement drain plugs each time the oil is changed. again, this leaves the burden of the defective part on the consumer, in addition to enabling large amounts of oil to leak onto the environment, as well as endangering the life of one's vehicle if these drain plugs are not replaced upon each oil change. the consumer should not have to bear this burden. honda should manufacture a safe non-defective product. also, the consumer had to figure out why the vehicle was leaking when honda knew all along and did not notify the consumer. *tr

Front grille of honda odyssey- and many other models allows for road debris to damage condenser coils in engine. not covered under warranty due to being a road hazard- but simply looking at design will be obvious this is a design flaw. severe misjudgment has occurred with this design- and honda is refusing to cover this under any warranty- dealer agrees, mechanic agrees- worst design ever. *tr

While driving my 2007 honda odyssey with less than one year of service, i began to notice steam coming from the engine area. i was in the process of driving to an appointment when i noticed it. the next day, my vehicle no longer had a/c. after taking it to the dealership, i was informed that a small pebble had broken one of the fins on the ac condenser. it would cost $850.00 to fix it. there was no unusual wear and tear nothing that i could have done to prevent this. what's more, once i replace this, there is no guarantee that another pebble won't fly into the grille again based on it's location. this is not covered by the manufacturer or an extended warranty. the consumer loses big here. we've had to drive and save for 6 months to get this replaced. *tr

2007 odyssey with 13,000 miles, the ac suddenly quit working. took it to the honda dealer and was informed that the condenser was hit by the road debris and caused the leakage. i was charged $790 to install a new condenser. *tr

2007 honda odyssey ex ac compressor had to be replaced after road debris (a small rock) punctured it. the car has less than 40,000 miles and is only driven on main city roads. the total cost of this repair, which was not covered uder the warranty was over $800 including towing. i have looked on the internet and it seems that many people have had this problem which is never covered by the warranty - even though there seems to be a flaw in the design. the claims are that the ac compressor is not properly protected and is in the front of the vehicle engine where it is more likely to be exposed to normal road debris.

After driving my 2007 honda odyssey for 30 minutes, the right rear compartment and cup holder by the 3rd row seats heat up. the temperature heats up to 122 degrees inside the compartment, and bottom of the cup holder up to 110 degrees. this occurs every time after driving 30 minutes or more, regardless whether the air conditioner, and heaters are on or off. this can easily burn a person's skin, especially for younger children. *tr

2007 honda odyssey minivan. the air conditioning went out and the dealer says that a rock must have hit the condenser and put a small hole in it. because it was damaged the dealer says the repair is not covered by the warranty, even though we have done nothing to cause the damage. the repair cost is $900. from reading the stories on the web, it sounds like i am not alone in having easy damage to honda odyssey air conditioners with dealers claiming that it is not covered by the warranty. *tr

I parked my 2007 honda odyssey in my driveway after running errands - driving approximately 10 miles. i heard a hissing noise coming from the front of the car. i immediately brought the car into the dealer and found out the noise was freon escaping from the compressor (air conditioner). they 'think' a small rock may have penetrated the condenser although no rock was found. this cost to replace this part is $725 and is not covered under the warranty. *tr

Honda odyssey condenser had a hole in it caused by road debris. repairman says this happens a lot with honda's and is not covered by warranty. the car is only 1 year old and i am now having to pay $1000 to fix something that is a design flaw. please force honda to recall and put a protection grill on these cars to prevent this common occurrence!!!! *tr

On the 3rd row seat there is a glove box on the passenger side. the box gets extremely hot. we found out when my child put in her crayons and all the crayons melted. the rear heating system is right under there according to the dealer. i didn't realize it was hot and when removing the bag of melted crayons (which i did not realize they were melted crayons) i burned my self. this occurs every single time. on longer drives it gets even hotter. i took the car to the dealer, as the car is still under warranty. the dealer said that this was a manufacturer's defect and that there was nothing they would do. i then called honda but they said if the dealer said that they couldn't do anything then that was that. the side wall also gets quite warm. not as hot as the box however this is a child safety hazard as children could get burned as well as anyone else who touches it. *tr
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING - COOLING SYSTEM - RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
08/04/20071
I own a 2006 honda odyssey (purchased july 2006). last weekend, i noticed blue fluid (coolant) on the grill accompanied by a burnt smell and the coolant fluid was below the minimum level. just two weeks prior, this car was taken in to the dealers for the 1 year minor tune-up. the dealers reported that a rock has punctured the radiator, so that is where the leak was coming from. i was told that this case is not covered by the warranty because it is not from the normal wear and tear. i find it unfair that due to the poor design of the grill that i have to pay a $500 deductible to get this fixed. *tr

2007 honda odyssey. engine has always pinged and i'm unsure if honda admits there's a problem and i'm unsure if they're working on a resolution. see http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f153159/59?@558.nzxyajtfxtg@ everyone complains with the same symptoms. i have had the van checked out and nothing was found wrong. even with premium unleaded, there is some ping while driving up steep hills, but premium does make the pinging subside somewhat. *tr

 1. normal driving around town and freeway. 2. engine pinging, every time vehicle is driven. long term effect (engine damage). 3. honda has tried to fix this issue 5 times with no resolve. tech line states they are aware of the problem but no known resolution at this time. the most recent letter from honda was nothing is wrong even though the dealer states the pinging is not normal. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. while driving at low speeds, the vehicle stalls when the contact attempts to accelerate. also, the vehicle fails to gain speed while attempting to accelerate from a stop. the failure is intermittent. prior to the failure, the contact noticed that the vehicle would start and then shut off. the vehicle has been diagnosed by the dealer, but the failure still occurs. the current mileage was 13,000 and failure mileage was 11,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey. while driving 30 mph, the contact heard a noise coming from the engine compartment. there was a loss of power steering. there were no warning indicators prior to the failure. the vehicle had to be stopped in the middle of the road and towed to the dealer. the dealer stated that the belt failed due to a harmonic balancer and they made the repair. the current and failure mileages were 3,200.

2006 odyssey with 32k miles. starting at or around 28k noticed a chirping or rattling noise coming from engine. sounds like valves rattling from going up hill w/low octane gas. took to dealer at 30k they could not heard noise. now noise occurs at all times from idle to no a/c on to a/c off to applying a slight amount of gas pedal. *tr

At 2,666 miles on the odometer, my honda odyssey exl, purchased on 2/28/2007, suffered catastrophic engine failure in the middle of an intersection. while the service department is unclear on the root cause of the problem, they found the front cam shaft frozen in the cylinder head with the speculation that there was a casting head problem with debris inside the valve assembly. all fluids were at recommended levels. a partial list of repairs: - front head assembly and gasket replaced - rear head gasket replaced. - timing belt and tensioner replaced. - drive belt idler tensioner replaced. - coolant system gasket replaced. - front engine seals replaced. - outer head assembly replaced. how no injury or accident occurred while my car died in the middle of a busy intersection, is just my good fortune. my bad fortune is having to navigate a rude and unaccountable corporate service department and live with the legacy of a major manufacturing defect. *jb
