Our 2007 honda odyssey liftgate gas struts both failed with no warning on march 1, 2011. this is very dangerous because it slammed down and could have hurt someone. seems this is a common occurrence with odysseys made in the last 10 years. i have had other vehicles with liftgates and none have failed. honda should fix this as a safety issue before someone gets hurt.

I have a 2007 ex with 13,000 miles and both of the tailgate (hatch) struts just failed suddently on 08/15/2010. there should be some additional safety mechanism on these so that they just don't collapse and cause harm (the hatch almost slam my 7-years old son on the head). both can not go bad at one time and either one should support some weight. it is quite dangerous. these liftgate struts should be recalled before bad things happen. honda should stand behind what they put in these cars

The vehicle we are reporting an issue with is a 2007 honda odyssey. the car was purchased last october so it is less then 1 year old and has less then 5,000 miles on it. on tuesday 8/12/2008 the sliding door on the driver side of the car closed on my 2 year olds hand. the door malfunctioned in 2 ways a) the door has a sensor built in that if it meets resistance it bounces back open. in this case the door did not bounce back open as it should have and closed on my kids hand. b) once the door had already closed on his hand we could not get it to open back up and my kids hand was still stuck in the door. the door would not open no matter how many times we hit the open button or pulled on the handle. we had to call the police for help who in turn sent the fire department. the fire department was not able to get the door to open either even with 4 big guys pulling on it, the fire man had to use a crow bar to force the door open. we took my son to the hospital for xrays and they said that due to his age it is the only reason he has no broken bones (at age 2 the bones are still soft and able to flex) they do suspect he might have some fractures so they put him in a soft cast and told us to schedule a visit with a hand surgeon to inspect the hand to make sure there are no fractures and to check his growth palates. the fireman, hospital, and doctors all told us the same thing that if it had been my 6 or 4 year old whose hand got stuck we would have been dealing with broken bones. now that this has happened to us i did a search on line and see that other people have had similar problems with the sliding doors on honda odyssey's all the way back to 2000. this is an issue that honda has gotten away with up until now. honda needs to take care of this issues that they know about and not sweep it under the rug. *tr

Manufacturing defect of 2007 honda odyssey leads to eventual air conditioning failure as condenser is not protected from debris (such as rocks) hitting it and putting a hole in it. hundreds, if not more, of other vehicle owners have had the same problems. *tr

Honda odyssey air conditioning failed after 10000 miles. dealer claims rock punched a hole in the ac condenser. price to fix - $700. american honda says because cause is road damage, warranty does not cover it. this is a design flaw. *tr

A rock damage my 2007 honda causing freon to leak out. honda dealer estimated that it will cost $800 to fix this. i believe that this is a design flaw with the condenser that honda should recall. i could understand that a rock damage a windshield, but not some part in the engine. please review more complaints at http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/honda-odyssey/ts3tfhtseucdodh9c. *tr

My ac quit working in my 2007 honda odyssey. this was in july, 2008 with only 13900 miles on the vehicle. i was told it was a hole in condenser, and not covered under warranty. the service advisor explained to me that it was because honda was making the grille wider to allow the engine to stay cooler. and that this was a freak thing. now, less than 1 year later, it's happened again! they won't fix it or discount it due to it being road damage. i understand that now they are making them with grills for protection on the 2008 models and later. obviously they've realized it's a manufacturers defect. *tr

2007 honda odyssey - 3/28/09. noticed ac was not working. on 4/6/09 i took the vehicle to be inspected at the dealership where it was purchased. the service rep indicated it was a small hole in the condenser, most likely caused by a road hazard (rock), and not covered by the warranty. i paid for the $1060 repair. after the vehicle was repaired, i was told by coworkers it is a notorious design issue. this was confirmed by a quick visit to google. the dealership made no mention of the common occurrence. hopefully with enough complaints, honda will be forced to admit there is a major problem and offer some form of help. please add me to the list of impacted owners. i instructed the service rep to move forward with repairs at 9:30am. by 2:30pm i was picking up the vehicle. $1060, with $516 of that for labor. if it's determined to be a limited problem, i have no issues; however, everything i read indicates a problem where significant owners are being affected. *tr

My 2007 honda odyssey's air conditioning stopped working, the van has only 11,000 miles on it. i took the van to the dealer for service and was told that a rock had hit the ac condenser and that it was not covered by warranty. i feel that their assessment of the root cause of the problem to be very subjective, just how do they know that a rock caused the problem with no visible damage.. i was told the part would cost $800.00 and it would be ordered. i have since found out that this is a frequent problem that is probably due to faulty design. i feel honda should be responsible for the cost of repairs and do a corrective action recall on this vehicle. *tr

In may 2008, just 9 months after driving my brand new 2007 honda odyssey off the showroom floor, my air conditioning went out. i took it back to the dealership where i had purchased the vehicle fully anticipating my factory warranty to cover the cost of the repair. after diagnosing the problem, i was told by the service department at the dealership that a rock had punctured the condenser causing the coolant to leak out. i was also told that this was deemed a ?freak accident? and an ?act of nature? and therefore was not a warranty. the total cost of the repair, including labor, was $780.00. i was informed by american honda that the only warrantable repairs are ?factory defects?. i examined the front of my van along the bottom and i discovered that my condenser sits right at the front of the vehicle, completely exposed. i investigated the matter further and discovered that in the next year's model, the 2008 odyssey, honda has gone in and added a grill over the condenser to protect it. i also discovered thousands of other odyssey owners who have experienced the exact same problem and were given the exact same regurgitate answer from their dealership and from american honda. this was not a freak accident, rather, it is a widespread problem on these vehicles caused by a defective design. *tr

Dealership claimed that a stone caused a hole in the air conditioner (a/c) condenser hose in the front of the vehicle, thereby denying responsibility as a warranty item. the 2007 honda odyssey was only 3 months old and the a/c was blowing hot air. the repair costs $600. this was a common problem that honda was not addressing.*ak
