While waiting to cross a railroad crossing the two cars ahead of me started moving. the first car suddenly stopped causing the 2nd car to hit it. i slammed on my brakes but my car surged ahead into the car in front of me causing much damage of that car and considerable damage, (undrivable) to my car. police were called and a report take,. i srepped on my brakes hard yet i surged forward very fast. about three months earlier i experienced the same problem comming out of a store parking lot onto a busy road. i applied my brake only to have the car keep going forward almost entering on coming traffic. i could only assume when i applied the brake my food hit the accelerator on the down push. i feel the same thing happened during the aug. 4, 2011 accident. i wonder if there have been other incidents like this, i wear a size 11 eee shoe which is petty wide, the only reason i could see for hitting both the brake and accelerator.

Sudden unintended acceleration 2007 santa fe hyundai - 2nd time around..this time on a private road car engine revved up , all brake systems failed, could not shift into neutral - mechanism would not move, had to hold on the stirring wheel and ride it out.; saw main thoroughfare coming up swerved into gas station; saw wall had thought to swerve into street; would have toppled vehicle saw small park went across thoroughfare unto park area; understood car was airborne and when it hit the ground went on two wheels on the right hand side and then came down unto the 4; stirred strait into clearing between trees; sampling and dirt stopped vehicle. 1 passenger contests he has slight fracture on skull; the near fatality might have been to a plausible number of children, parents, adults , cars and tractor trailers on main road. this could have been . the after result is the nervousness that rides in one's soul when on the road. had over 20 witnesses to this event. this is an ongoing epidemic,my case has been ingnored and other cases have been ignored isn't it time that this is reviewed before real fatalities become actualized. thank you.

I own a 2007 hyundai santa fe suv. the seat belt for the passenger rear seat (40) does not stay up and available to new occupants. it always falls down the seat belt slot and is extremely difficult to retrieve for the passenger. passenger invariably seat themselves into 60 portion of the seat directly behind the driver. the only way which i have found to retireve the seat belt and make it available to the passender in the 40 seat is to lay the seat down at about a 30 degrees. reach under the seat vary carefully and push the seat belt up from the bottom. this is extremely difficult and with the bolts and unfinished metal on the floor poses a safety hazard in itself. i have taken the vehicle in to the dealter twice and asked about repair or recall and they just kind of laugh when i tell them its a pain and needs fixed. they just say you and alot of others would like that. it would take a simple fix of putting in a stiff collar like that on most vehilces or a flat sleve which could keep the belt from receding into the abiss of the vehicle. i would imagine that most passengers in the 40 position do without wearing the belt, and just hold it in the lap. can you firmly suggest to hyundai to put a permanent fix to this safety issue before someone gets killed for not wearing a seatlbelt which is not available to them becasue of a manufactures oversight and lack of concern.

Three major complaints. at 18,000 miles the top seale of the engine had to be replaced, repaired under warranty. at 21,000 mile the rear brake calipers had to be repaired for sticking and pads replaced at owners expense. owner told by dealership the cause was probably from salt used to treat road surfaces during snow removal. hyndai refused warrenty claim and would not admit improper materials used for braking system. at 27,000 miles, multiple visits to dealership for repair of inoperating turn signals. parts replaced in attempt to repair include electrical box in steering column, all bulbs, flasher unit, grounding points for system. problem reaccuring and dangerous.

I have also had this problem on my 2007 santa fe limited (the airbag indicator and the alarm sounding for no reason at the same time). they both started happening at the same time. i have the airbag indicator illuminated in the lower right hand corner of the dashboard control panel. i took it to the dealership on this past monday (23 june 2008) and they were able to see the error code. but could not determine what the actual problem is. so they cleared the error code, changed the oil, and washed it. the dealership told me to come back if it happens again. the funny thing about this problem is that it comes and goes. as i was driving to the dealership, the indicator went off. but once i got to the dealership and they went to check it, it came back on and stayed on. well, it happened again the very next day. i called the dealership and they have instructed me to bring it in because this should not be happening. they have offered to put me in a loaner car while they investigate what is going on with my truck. oh i forgot to tell you what happened after they cleared the code. after they cleared the code on the 23rd, the alarm does not sound when you press the control button twice. they disarmed something on the other day. i

The nut that holds one of the rear lift gate struts to the body of the car came loose and we believe dropped down behind the body liner and possibly one of the rear air bags. anyway, this allowed the rear lift gate to drop as it was only now being held up by one strut. the hyundai dealership told us it would require removing the body liner and air bag to get into where the nut may have dropped to in order to secure it and re-attach it to the body of car, at a cost of $600. since our car was out of warranty hyundai did not feel they should pay for it, we content that this was a structural defect and has nothing to do with mileage, wear or tear on the vehicle, which by the way is in excellent condition. the dealership claims they never saw the vehicle and they never wrote any service report on it. we took the car to a local repair shop first but they said there was no way they could get into the area and did not want to try working around the air bag. hyundai has established a case # 4999075, and after our initial e-mails, we called them and they were to get back to us with further update, but we have not heard another word from them and our first contact with them was almost four months ago. we just today sent another e-mail to their customer connect center to see if we can't get some resolution from them, at no cost to us as consumers. the dealership said they had never seen this happen before and it is a dangerous safety hazard, the lift gate will not stay up with only one strut and we must use a piece of lumber to hold the lift gate up so we can use the rear storage area. all it would take is for that piece of wood to fall out and down would come the gate with some force, but there is no other feasible way to repair the structure without a sizeable expense on our part which we do not feel is justified.

Driving 2007 hyundai santa fe on busy freeway with husband as passenger. suddenly the driver side sun visor drops into my face from its corner attachment, dangling by only electrical wire. husband grabbed sun visor and lifted up, preventing potential serious accident with surrounding vehicles. talked to hyundai service dealership; they refused free replacement due to being out of warranty. gave estimate $185 plus to replace. online complaint websites detail dozens of same defect with 2007 hyundai santa fe driver side sun visor dropping from exact same location, and dealers admitting factory use of cheap plastic assembly as cause. we contacted hyundai corporate in fountain valley, ca. they refused to initiate defective driver side sun visor recall. said they needed more complaints to justify recall. told them it's been 4 years, and there are already dozens of complaints. advised them it's very dangerous not to do recall. serious liability issues. hyundai corporate efused to consider recall as of 02/15/11. currently propping up sun visor until recall is initiated. filing complaint with state attorney general office of consumer affairs.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 hyundai santa fe. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 08v272000 (equipment:other:labels). he purchased the vehicle for the towing package that was included. the recall repairs would change the amount of weight the vehicle was allotted to tow. the initial label incorrectly lists the gross axle weight ratings. the initial weight ratings were 2,976 for the front and 3,197 for the rear. the new rating labels would drop the weight to 2,910 for the front and 3,131 for the rear, causing conflict with the equipment weight needing to be towed. the database would not take the vin that the contact provided. the failure and current mileages were 29,000. updated 10-07-08 *bf updated 10/09/08. *jb
