The nut that holds one of the rear lift gate struts to the body of the car came loose and we believe dropped down behind the body liner and possibly one of the rear air bags. anyway, this allowed the rear lift gate to drop as it was only now being held up by one strut. the hyundai dealership told us it would require removing the body liner and air bag to get into where the nut may have dropped to in order to secure it and re-attach it to the body of car, at a cost of $600. since our car was out of warranty hyundai did not feel they should pay for it, we content that this was a structural defect and has nothing to do with mileage, wear or tear on the vehicle, which by the way is in excellent condition. the dealership claims they never saw the vehicle and they never wrote any service report on it. we took the car to a local repair shop first but they said there was no way they could get into the area and did not want to try working around the air bag. hyundai has established a case # 4999075, and after our initial e-mails, we called them and they were to get back to us with further update, but we have not heard another word from them and our first contact with them was almost four months ago. we just today sent another e-mail to their customer connect center to see if we can't get some resolution from them, at no cost to us as consumers. the dealership said they had never seen this happen before and it is a dangerous safety hazard, the lift gate will not stay up with only one strut and we must use a piece of lumber to hold the lift gate up so we can use the rear storage area. all it would take is for that piece of wood to fall out and down would come the gate with some force, but there is no other feasible way to repair the structure without a sizeable expense on our part which we do not feel is justified.

While i was driving on the highway at about 60 mph the driver sunvisor just broke off and fell right infront of me, because of the wires to the mirror on the sunvisor, the sunvisor was just hanging in front of me. this almost caused me to get into an accident with traffic. i took the vehicle to the dealership to get the sunvisor changed and i was told it was not covered under the warranty. i have done some research on this type of problem and have found out that hyundai has had this problem for about 10 years in different vehicle models, one of them being the 2007 hyundai santa fe limited which is what i have. i believe the manufacturer should assume responsibility of fixing this problem. this needs to be corrected asap.

Was driving when all of a sudden the sun visor on driver's side dropped down. couldn't flip it back up to stay intact. kept falling down impairing my vision. plastic piece eventually broke off and so i tried to use velcro to keep the visor from blocking my vision while i drove the vehicle. didn't work. wire broke a couple days later sending the whole visor down falling on my lap. now as of 8/29/12 the passenger sun visor is doing the same thing. there are sooo many complaints online with specifically the 2007 hyundai santa fe visors breaking. this needs to be recalled asap. major vision impairment.

All door lock acutuators on my vehicle are defective causing faulty door locks. a review of owners forums reveals this to be a common problem. this creates a safty concern if people, especially children need to be able to exit the vehicle quickly. a potentially fatal example would be a fire inside the car.

I was going to park in my parking spot and the car just excellerated and jumped a granite curb and struck a 4 in pole in the ground. the car kept hitting the pole almost driving up it. the car wouldn't stop even after i pressed on the brake, finally i couldn't stop it until i placed both feet on the brake pedal and pressed as hard as i could. it was frightening, when i called the garage they wanted me to drive it up to the shop, i couldn't i was afraid it would accellerate. i explained what happened to the dealership collision guy and he said he had never hear of such a thing. i told him i had looked on the website and found quite a few reports. they said they would look at the vehicle. right.

2007 hyundai santa fe; front right tire locks up while driving. this has happened at various speeds 5 mph to 70 mph for the past 2 years. i have had the tires rotated to ensure that it is not a particular tire. i have had the dealer look at the suv, they said they could not replicate the problem. the dealer states all recall items have been addressed, but our problem still occurs. my wife did an 800 mile trip last month with no problems, the following week she complained it happened 4 times in one week. the esc off light has turned on in conjunction with these events, however there have been times when the esc off light will turn on, but no incidents with the tire locking has occurred. in the cases of higher speeds 50+ the tire will lock, speeds will decrease, of course with the tire dragging the car pulls. i will swerve the car back and forth to see if the tire will unlock. once i was in an hov lane it almost brought us to a stop with no shoulders to get the car out of traffic. once at low speed (5 mph) coming out of a parking lot the tire locked up and did not release bring the car to a stop, my wife stated that she had to pump the brakes to get it to release. the problem is intermittent, i can not get it to fail on demand, or know what causes it to do so. in the event for the esc off light, bumpy roads will trigger that, for example a particular highway in las vegas was widened the widened area is not a very smooth ride. 30 seconds into the area the esc off light will appear. that i can replicate. but the tire has never stopped rotating in this section. once on rural highway in arizona, once in hov lane in las vegas, dozens of times on local streets, 8 times on highways at freeway speeds. my wife and i are alert while driving, there are no warnings when this will occur, however once it does occur we are able to respond quickly to the tire dragging/pulling (not spinning) have been fortunate no accidents.

While my car was off and parked in my garage (with no keys in ignition), my 6 year old son was able to move the gear shift from park to neutral/drive. he later showed me how he used both his hands and pulled really hard. my car rolled out of the garage, crossed the busy street and into the neighbors drive way (with my son in it!!!!!!). it then started to roll forward towards me and the street ....until i could open the door and slam my foot on the breaks. i was unable to get the gear back into the park position and had to be pushed back into my garage. i then inserted the key to place the car into park.

Accident involved sudden acceleration and owners suspect electronic defect in the car. fortunately despite extensive damage to the store and vehicle, no one injured. owners are working with both insurer and vehicle manufacturer to request appropriate investigation. driver's statement: i was pulling into a parking slot at local store. everything was going normally. i applied pressure to the brakes to come to a complete stop and the car responded and slowed. but just as i was about to come to a complete stop, the engine revved up some and the car kept moving forward. i pressed on the brakes harder, but the car moved forward even faster. i had no time to slip into neutral or cut the engine. i finally lifted my foot for second and stomped on the brake pedal hard, but momentum caused the car to jump the curb and i shattered a huge plate glass window in the front of the store. the car finally came to a stop in a hail of glass shards partially inside the store, the engine still revving higher than at idle speed. i shut off the engine. and that's what i recollect about what happened in the few seconds it took for the car's failure to stop and running through the window.

I own a 2007 santa fe hyundai. my power system went out about three months ago. luckily, i had just left the grocery store and was still in the parking lot. my car at the time had 26,334 miles on it. at first i thought it was the battery, but i had someone jump start my car, and after i drove it about three feet, i knew something was wrong. i couldn't steer it and coasted to a stop by a wendy's restaurant. i called my son and when he lifted the hood, he saw a round part just hanging there. i had to have my car towed to a dealer in waldorf, maryland. apparently, the damper pulley came apart. they replaced damper pulley and belt. i was under warranty, but i still worry about it happening again every time i have to drive it on a main highway and in a lot of traffic.

My 2007 hyundai has a problem with the wearing on the front tires. i purchased it in january of 2008, and have had to replace the front tires twice. this causes the vehicle to skid and braking is somewhat difficult. i told the dealer, but there was no resolution.
