Defect SummaryVehicle description: passenger vehicles. the supplemental restraint system (srs) air bag warning light could illuminate due to motion of the side impact air bag wiring harness and side impact air bag wiring harness connector that mount to the adjustable seat cushion assembly. this condition only relates to the driver and/or passenger seat-mounted side impact air bag(s).
Consequence SummaryThis condition could prevent seat mounted side impact air bag deployment during an accident where such deployment should occur. non-deployment of the srs side impact air bags could increase the risk of injury during an accident where side impact air bag deployment is intended.
Corrective SummaryDealers will more securely fasten the front seat side impact air bag wiring harness and connectors to the vehicle's front seat cushion frames. owner notification will occur in six mailings on may 27, june 3, june 10, june 17, june 24, and july 1, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.

Air bag light continues to go on since 2001. first try to fix it 12/01. up to end of 5 year warranty no cost to me. on 3/19/08 it cost me $93.00 to get the light off. i was told that the floor harness needs to be replaced for a cost of $780.46. light back on july 08. in sept of 05, i tried to get hyundai customer to get this fixed for me, but hyundai refused to do it, at their cost. my disagreement is there was a recall and they tried; but the problem continues to come back, over and over again.. my contention is they never fixed it, if the light continues to come back on. this should be fixed by them at their cost no matter what it takes. the protection for a long time has not been there for me and my family. can you help? they tried 7 times to fix it and once the warranty was up i did not want to keep paying for nothing. *tr
