Tl* the contact owns a 2002 hyundai sonata. when fueling the vehicle, gasoline regurgitates from the fuel tank. also the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument control panel. sometimes the vehicle will hesitate when attempting to accelerate, as if there was no fuel available. the dealer was notified, and a technician concluded that she would have to pay $900.00 to repair the vehicle. no repairs were made.. the failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 82878.

On 09/04/07 i bought a used 2002 hyundai sonata and on 09/05/07 the car lost 1st and 4th gear it seemed as if the transmission were going out , but when i started reviewing other consumer related issues i noticed over 900 consumers had the same problems with their hyundai's , but the cause ended up being the output speed sensor. which in some cases took consumers up to 6 months to locate one. unfortunately i financed the car as is with no warranty. *jb

We recentlty purchased a used but showroom condition hyundai sonata with somewhere around 29,000 miles on it from a dealership. after about three weeks my son had to leave it in a parking lot. the throttle/cruise control cable (even tho he did not have the cruise control on) was stuck. he thought the problem was fixed so hedrove the car a few more weeks and was on his way home when the same thing happened again only this time he ran into a utility pole. the car was damaged pretty baddly but thank the lord he was not. he could have been killed. the utility company is charging us about $4000.00 or more dollars for the work they had to do to the pole. i called hyundai consumer affairs. the car is at a hyundai dealership. consumer affairs is mailing me a form to fill out. i do not know if hyundai is going to claim responsiblity or not. i feel that this problem needs to be researched to see if there have been any other problems with the throttle/cruise control sticking making it impossible to stop or causing any other problem. i hate to see someone die from this.*ak
