My sunvisor on the drivers side dropped down and will not go back to the upright position. this is the third time my sunvisor has broken. one on the passenger side and twice on the drivers side. i have spent 100 dollars replacing the other side. i do not have any children in my car, it is just myself and my husband. this is ridiculous that it broke for no apparent reason. i have a 2004 hyundai elantra and have never had problems with the visors. *tr

Driver's side sun visor is defective and is creating a dangerous situation.the visor began dropping from the up position toward the ceiling. it would not stay up. its bottom was right at my line of vision. i took the car to the hyundai dealer and had missed the bumper to bumper 5 yr. or 60k warranty by 3 days! they said it would cost $100 to replace and install. today while driving my husband was trying to move it out of his line of vision and we heard a noise and the whole thing just lost all it's support. he was able to take it off and we were hoping to find screws we could just tighten, but that wasn't the case. now, with it just hanging it interferes with my view and is a hazard. there needs to be a recall on these!!! i don't have $100 to spend on a manufacturer defect. from what i've read online, this has been a constant problem for the sonota. the only other hyundai owner is my neighbor; they had the same thing happen on their new car. can you help us???? *tr

Both sun visors on my 2007 sonata broke within weeks of each other. they will not stay up. they broke after 60,000 miles so they are no longer under warranty. after reading on the internet about the number of drivers who had the same problem from 2006 to 2008, hyundai should have had a recall. knowing they had a problem back in 2006 and allowing this problem to go on for 2 more years is irresponsible and the hyundai car sompany should be made to replace all the defiected sun visors.

Passengers sun visor broke and fell down distracting driver. search on internet finds many complaints of same issue and even service bulletins addressing the problem but only in certain states and of course in the warranty period for years/mileage. not feeling real confident in hyundai fixing it based on past experience with dealer and that i'm out of warranty. shouldn't be long before the drivers one falls down also. maybe it will cause a crash, maybe not. this should definitely be a recall item to replace all of them once the design is changed.

About a year ago the sun visor on the passenger side would not stay in the up position. i checked for any recalls, but there were none. now the driver side sun visor no longer will stay in the up position. i have researched and discovered that there are many complaints online about this problem occurring with many other 2007 sonatas. i think most people are not aware that they can file a complaint online here about this problem. visibility is a constant problem as the visor will not stay up and makes driving difficult. hyundai has not responded favorably to my inquiries. how many complaints does it take before this type of problem is resolved by hyundai. thank you for your time.

My 2007 sonata driver's sunvisor locked up at around 58000 miles and when i attempted to lower it the internal components of the sunvisor broke loose causing the sunvisor to drop down in my line of sight while driving. if raised out of my line of vision it would drop unexpedtedly, blocking my line of sight leaving me in danger of hitting another car or person. i took my car to the hyundai dealer and they replaced the sunvisor at no cost to me. approximately 4 months later the passenger side sunvisor did the same thing. once again i returned to the hyundai dealer and they replaced the passenger side sunvisor at no cost to me. at 90000 miles the driver side sunvisor once again locked up with the same resulting malfunction occuring. this time the hyundai dealer said my car was out of warrenty and it would cost me $160.00 to have it replaced. this is a terrible safety hazard to have the sunvisor drop down with out warning blocking your line of sight while driving in heavy traffic. a recall should be done since while surffing the web i discovered many people have encountered the same problem.

The driver side and passenger side sun visors fail to stay in the upright postion. this is very distracting for the driver and can block the driver's vision. after investigating similar problems on the internet, the 2007 sonata seems to have a very high failer rate on the sun visors. the plastic part (not metal) that is resposible for holding the sun visor upright is not designed well enough to function as intended. passenger failed at 40k miles and the driver at 80k miles.

The passenger side sun visor's control arm cracked and no longer stays locked in any position. it flops down and hangs loosely. we need to use a safety pin to lock it up out of the driver's line of sight. at around 40,000 miles, the driver side visor also failed.

Sun visor failed and no longer will remain up. it is extremely loose and points directly downward. this is caused by a design and/or a manufacturing defect. it presents a safety hazard as the visor obstructs the drivers view. inasmuch as this problem is prevalent with this model vehicle and is costly to correct when the vehicle is out-of-warranty, it should be recalled or at a minimum be provided with a lifetime warranty by the manufacturer. my vehicle is still in warranty.

Passenger and driver side sun visors will not stay in place causing visual obstruction at random times. the visors will fall while operating the vehicle and causes a significant distraction to the driver which could result in an accident.

The driver side sunvisor on my 2007 hyundai sonata randomly falls down from down from its retired position. this occured again this past week and obscurred my vision while travelling at a speed of about 50mph on a two lane road near my home. i momentarily was not in full control of the vehicle and almost ran off the road into a ditch due to my vision obstruction. once i flipped the visor back up i regained control of my vehicle with my heart in my throat. i really believe that the defective visor almost killed me because it randomly flopped down, blocking my view of the road. this visor issue has been going on for a few months now and this time it really almost killed me. i will be getting this fixed next week, but there should be a recall on the part.

The driver side sun visor fell down while driving and will not stay in the previous locked position. internet searches show many other drivers with this same issue and all being told that a repair out of warranty is over $200 for a visor. this is a major safety issue and i have tried everything from velcro (works until it get hot and then falls off) to bungee cords, rubber bands, and even a magnet. when you do needs the visor to protect from the sun all of these temp fixes prevent the safe switch to flipping down the visor. at first you could position the visor to block the sun now it just hangs straight down.

Both visors on my 2007 sonata do not stay in place, i have contacted hyndai and they are unsympathetic to my situation due to the mileage, 72,000, out of warranty. also, both of my rear door handles have broken. i have to reach around to inside of door to open rear door.

While traveling on a highway entrance ramp, the glass of my moon roof exploded spontaneously. at the time of the incident (approximately 12:00 pm est), the temperature was around 30 degrees fahrenheit and there were no adverse weather conditions, i was traveling under no overpasses, and there were no vehicles in front of me. i noticed no objects striking my car before or at the time of the incident, my passengers and i only heard a noise that we agreed sounded like a gun shot coming from above the vehicle. since i happened to have the sun shade closed over the moon roof, no glass entered the interior of the vehicle, but a significant amount of the moon roof (approximately 2/3) blew towards the back of my car and onto the highway ramp. since i was traveling with my wife, mother, 5 year old daughter, and 2 year old son, this incident poses a significant safety hazard because if i hadn't had the sun shade closed, all passengers would have been exposed to flying debris from the blown out glass. i am confident that no objects struck my car to breach the moon roof, i strongly feel that this was a failure of the vehicle/component itself.

Using sun visor as designed when the component that holds the visor in a flat position above the steering wheel audibly failed (made a breaking noise). sun visor now will not stay in a secure flat position (the position you would put the sun visor in when you are not using the sun visor). the sun visor falls down blocking some view ahead (as it is meant to do only when you are blocking the occasional glare from the sun). this is the second sun visor from hyundai that i have had this happen to.

Failure of visor on 2007 hyundai sonata. this first failed while under warrantee and was repaired by the dealer. now it has failed again. the visor drops down obscuring the driver's vision. just before failure there was a sqeaking noise while adjusting the visor, then failure. this problem is not unique to my sonata as i found this link at an online site with many others having the same problem. http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=157121

The driver sun visor in hyundai sonata 2007 is loose. it doesnt stay up, it just drifts down. its a safety hazard since it happened on my passenger's side too. there are numerous complaints regarding this issue. make this a recall since this part not covered after 60000 miles on the car. hyundai makes it really costly to replace a single part. they charge $145 to replace a single side. this should be a recall.

We have a 2007 hyundai sonata limited, purchased new. within our warranty period (under 60,000 miles) the passenger visor would not stay up. at that time the dealer replaced it under warranty. now it is happening again and they say it will cost us $130 to get it fixed. i guess because we are over the 60,000 miles the warranty will not cover it. it seems like others have had the same issue so i doubt this is an isolated issue.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 hyundai sonata. while driving at 35 mph, the driver side sun visor fell into the contacts lap. she pulled over and later called the dealership. she was informed that there was no recall and she would have to pay for the repair at her expense. she called the manufacturer but was told that she was responsible for the repair costs. the current and failure mileages were approximately 86,000.

2007 hyundai sonata - driver's side sun visor will not stay up or down. has to be tied in up position or hits driver in the forehead. very annoying, potential safety issue. dealer says - if vehicle under 60,000 miles, will replace under warranty. seeing internet full of same problems, looks like it should be a safety recall free to owner no matter how many miles.

2007 hyundai sonata. both sun visors: the plastic cracks, you hear a clicking noise then the visors will not stay up anymore. the visors hang down in your line of vision. i tried velco to fix but it is not strong enough so i literally sewed the visor to the roof of the car.

The sun visor over my driver side 2007 sonata hangs straight down. i went to adjust it and it made a crackle noise and can no longer stay up and out of the way. this is blocking visibility of the traffic lights.

Hyundai sonata, 2007. under normal operating conditions, initially the passenger-side sunvisor started sagging, partially obstructing my (i.e. driver's) view. 2 weeks later the driver-side sunvisor also started sagging, thus seriously obstructing my view and hitting me in the head. i've contacted the dealership and consumer affairs and am awaiting a response. *tr

While traveling at night on the ohio turnpike at posted speed limit, the drivers side sun visor suddenly dropped down from its normal stowed position against the headliner directly into my line of vision. this caused a brief loss of vision of the road ahead and a momentary loss of vehicle control. sun visor would no longer stay in stowed position and had to be forcibly removed in order to safely continue my trip. *tr

I have a 2007 hyundai sonata with a problem with the sun visor. in three years i have had to replace the drivers side twice and the passenger side once. when it fails the visor drops down and you can't see past it. i have checked the internet only to find this is a common and dangerous situation. *tr

The sun visors in the 2007 hyundai sonatas are getting to hot and melting. i have tried to pull down both visors and the both have cracked and broke. i am a fairly tall person and now when i push the visors back up they continue to fall back down in front of my face. i think this is a factory issue that needs to be fixed at their expense. *tr

2007 hyundai sonata sun visor on driver's side will not stay in place. a plastic piece broke and there is no tension in the visor resulting in the visor being completely vertical and always it the line of sight. i have to hold it in place with my hand while driving resulting in only one hand on the wheel and is highly dangerous. i've read that this is a very common problem with hyundai's and feel that the manufacturer should fix these safety problems. *tr

On 4/17/09 at about 2pm, i was traveling in a 2007 hyundai sonata southbound at 70mph on i-75 in florida between sr64 and sr70. smooth traffic flow, no road hazards, bumps, potholes or debris. weather 80 degrees, overcast. i had my ac on, windows closed and sunroof/sunshade closed when boom i heard an explosion above my head followed by the sound of wind. startled, i immediately pulled over, got out and saw that my sunroof had literally exploded upward, with the shattered rim edges intact. thank god i had my sunshade closed or i might have had glass fly into my eyes, blinding me and causing a catastrophic accident. i drove home and put a tarp on it because it was overcast and i was afraid of rain damage. i have used the sunroof on almost every day without incident, grinding noise, leak or concerns of any kind. i sincerely believe that this sunroof explosion was caused by a structural or mechanical defect from the manufacturer that could have lead to a serious, possibly fatal, accident. i am taking photographs and will be taking the vehicle to a hyundai dealership for evaluation. *tr

Driver side sunvisor mounting has become so loose that it allows the visor to continually drop down in front of my face, obscuring my view of the roadway, thereby presenting a real danger to the safe operation of the vehicle. the odds of an accident caused by the premature wear/failure of the visor retention mechanism is very real. in my opinion, this constitutes a safety defect. *tr

The driver and passenger sun visors do not stay in the upright position. they fall down while driving, causing visibility problems and potential head injury. contacted dealer, and then escalated thru hyundai regional service organization to get this addressed according to hyundai technical service bulletin 08-01-029, hyundai recall campaign t64. hyundai refused to service vehicle under the recall, despite the vin being included in the recall classification. *tr

2007 sonata both sun visors have failed still under 70,000 miles. the passenger side changed under warranty, it began sagging again a few months after replacement. yesterday the drivers side made a cracking sound, it is now completely hanging down, interfering with my view.

Both visors have broken, along with the drink holder in the middle console. there is a recall for a 2007 hyundai sonata in some states; however, my vehicle apparently isn't included in that. i have been reading forums on this problem and it is apparent it, in fact, is a problem and needs a resolution to both defects. i contacted hyundai about it and they say that my vin is not covered. i think it is ludacrous that hyundai doesn't take action to fix this and they will continue to lose customers.

Passenger side sun visor has sprung and will no longer stay in the up or down position. this impedes driver visibility and also creates a hazard for a passenger getting into the car. a passenger recently struck her head on the visor while getting into the car. *tr

Sun visors suddenly broke and fell into driver's field of vision. even when snapped into upright position, they drop and block visibility. this issue has not been experienced in any other vehicle. this is a safety concern and should be a recall item as research indicates that this has been a known issue for some time.

Sun visors will not stay up, especially in warmer conditions. this is a safety issue as when they drop to down position while driving visibility is impaired. almost ran a red light recently because they fell down and i could not see the light any longer.
