2008 hyundai sonata both sun visors won't stay up. while driving they both fall down causing obstruction for driving. this is very dangerous. hyundai has released a technical bulliton for replacing this to dealers. but they are doing it only under warrenty. this is an issue and can cause lot of fatality depending on driving conditions as this will blind the driver. information is found here. http://www.myhyundaiforums.com/09-01-003.pdf

On 6/11/12 as i was driving, the driver side visor dropped suddenly as i was breaking, my forehead slammed into the edge of the visor. my glasses protected my eyes, but my forehead is sore and tender. the visor no longer stays in the up position and flops down at an angle. this is dangerous, my visibility is constantly blocked. the visor wasn't in use, it just broke. i secured the driver's visor with tape. today, june 12, 2012, i drove my son. he was in the passenger side when the visor on that side broke. it just dropped down and will no longer stay in the up position! it appears the plastic device becomes brittle and breaks, the clip that holds the visor fails, and/or arms weaken. i did some research and i see many others have the same problem. there has been a recall but not for my car. it appears many have written complaints to the nhtsa yet nothing has been done. i was hurt, a less experienced driver could have caused an accident, it is a shock when the visor drops, blocking your view. hyundai is aware of the problem, it is a cheap, easy fix for them but for owners it

The driver's side visor will not stay in the 'up' position or in the fully extended position (closest to the windshield) on 2008 sonata. it falls , ending up either poking you in the head (if it was resting against the ceiling) or hanging straight down (if it had been fully extended). this is a safety hazard!

Traveling to florida drivers sunvisor would not stay in position imparing vision and almost causing an accident also passanger sunvisor wont stay in up position. contacted hyundai dealership gave them vin # they told me there was no recall on this safty issue. did some research ther is a technical service bulletin # 09-01-032 dated november 9 states if you bring your vehicle in for service under warranty they will replace both sunvisors only under warranty also only in certain states also manufactor dates 6 march 07 to jan 10 08 my vehicle falls between those manufacture dates but is over on the milage also many postings online with same problems! im requesting a mandatory recall due to hyundai has knowledge of this safty problem and is not voluntaryly fixing all affected vehicles , i request that a mandatory recall is issued for the safty of the general public.

The passenger side sun visor will not stay up on its own. it dropped into my side view and blocks visibility. looking on-line this seems to be a chronic issue on both driver and passenger sides and could cause a crash. hyundai refuses to replace at their cost as this is a one year wear item.

Trunk was opening on its own intermittantly. this was our 55000 mile scheduled service so we reported it. they checked and found nothing wrong but told us they greased the trunk latch and it should be fixed. a few weeks later it is happening again. we think its an electronic defect, but by the time they figure it out we'll be out of warranty. we don't dare put anything of value in the car.

Both the rear brake lights and the rear dash lights stopped illuminating (11-12-2011). i also have the esc indicator light going on and off (past 6 months) there was a warranty replacement on the stop lamp switch done on 10-23-2009. service department invoice states esc off light on caused by: recovered c1513 due to faulty break lamp switch. work performed: installed 93810-3k000-qqh stop lamp assemby switch. problem still occurring!!!!

Visor broke when i tried to put it up and now will not stay up. it just hangs in my line of vision and is causing a serious visibility problem. i checked on line and saw story after story of people having the same problem. it is definately a defective part that is a hazard and i believe there should be a recall.

Passenger visor pivot arm failed to retract after a few uses. visor hung down slightly and would not go back up. passenger would hit their head getting into and out of the car on the visor. this was not covered under warranty. driver side visor pivot arm failed to retract shortly thereafter, after few uses. driver side visor hangs at an angle that occludes driver's line of view, thus a hazard for driver safety. also if a collision would occur, the driver would collide with hanging visor that points toward face, causing head trauma.

I had a terrifying experience and near/miss this morning. my 2008 hyundai sonata (limited edition) car suddenly accelerated for no reason as i was exiting an expressway doing 65 mph! i couldn't stop the car! my foot was slammed on the brake and i felt/smelled the brake, but the car kept accelerating. i flew through a stop sign at the top of the exit ramp, blowing my horn, whipped around the curve to a street on the right, nearly hitting 4 cars before i finally threw the car into neutral. my car has cruise control, but i don't use it. i was very shaken up, but miraculously, no accident. i had the vehicle towed to the hyundai dealer, and the technicians cannot find anything wrong with it. i won't drive that car again in its current condition. no way. i was terrified. this was clearly a case of sudden unintended acceleration. nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and i've been driving for 30 years.

I have a 2008 hyundai sonota whose driver side sun visor broke. while moving the visor into position a small piece of plastic broke from the visor. now the visor randomly falls from it's position at the ceiling onto the driver's head. despite wearing sun glasses there are times the use of the visor is critical - esp when driving into the sun. also the unexpected movement causes a startle reaction compromising the driver's attention to traffic.

Driver side sunvisor failure on my 2008 hyundai sonata 22908 miles. it began with a week of 'cracking' when i used it until it finally broke today. it won't stay up or down completely and it is affecting my field of vision. it is just flopping in the middle. i have moved it to the side but it is still affecting my field of vision.
