Drivers sun visor hangs down, will not stay up.
02/15/20090
Tl-the contact rented a 2009 hyundai sonata. he stated there was severe vision problems from the front windshield window at night. during the day the window tint blocked about the upper 15% of the window but at night the top 50% of the window was opague to lighting from the vehicle headlamps during rural driving. he was forced to drive with his head near the top of the instrument panel to see ahead. the manufacturer or the dealer was not contacted he only reported it to the rental company. the failure and current mileage was unknown

I purchased a 2009 sonata for my wife's safety, driving the roads of texas to and from work. i notified hyundai about a serious and dangerous instrument panel control design flaw.. the sonata manual is self-explanatory starting at page 1-101 - addressing known and frequent fogging all windows issues. briefly, it is unconscionable to ask the driver, while driving, take one hand off the wheel, look down, find, read and manually reset multiple exact positions in temperature, a/c and fan speeds to defog all windows. at 70 miles, or any mph--this is a disaster waiting to happen. sonata hyundai windows fog quickly, completely and frequently blinding the driver necessitating distracting changes to be made to balance multiple changes in outside to inside temps along roads. defogging is achieved--only-- with outside air intake vents open. life threatening maneuvers to drive safely are distractions designed into the hyundai instrument control system. in all my years i have not found such an incompetent, unsafe, unreasonable and life threatening design in any automobile, or over the road rig i owned. if hyunda's answer is they cannot fix or reprogram the system, i am selling the car as quickly as they say no. this design is a death trap, unsafe to drive, and a threat to others on the road as well. *tr

My visor on the driver side will not stay up. it seems to be loosing and it will not stay forward either. when i am driving it is all in the way. it hits me in the head. i do feel like this is a recall issue because this have been a problem with 2007- other year models. i just really need the problem fix before it cause a problem and i do have kids that i transport in this car. this is my only means of transportation so i am in need of this to be fix before it causes a huge problem. i love my car...huge fan of the sonata but this is really making me not want to buy another or even to refer any one to buy one for themselves. *tr

The driver side visor made a strange sound as i pulled it down in a normal fashion. when i tried to return it to the normal position, it just flopped back down. it will not stay in place. i have tried velcro strips and tape to hold it in position and nothing works. the visor is obstructing my view and it will swing around when i make turns, which results in the visor hitting me in the head while i'm attempting to drive with an already obstructed view. to make matters worse, tonight i was driving and the light that normally comes on when you open the mirror, came on unexpectedly and would not turn off. i had to drive for 25 minutes with my passenger holding their hand over the light so that i could drive home. this probably wound not have been such a problem in the daylight, however, this was at night. i have contacted hyundai about this problem and they told me that it would cost over $70 just for the visor and even more to have it installed. they also told me that there was a recall on the 2006 sonata but that doesn't help me. *tr

As seems to be the case with hyundai's, the driver side sun visor would no longer have the tension to stay up. it would continually fall down and not stay in up position. it would also not stay in the position against the window to block the sun. this has been a problem with hyundai's for a long time and in my opinion it is a safety issue. i did a search of the internet and it is a recurring problem for many years. apparently hyundai is unable or unwilling to get to the problem and fix the sun visor issue. this issue causes a visibility problem as the visor keeps dropping into the driver's field of vision! *tr
