The entire clutch system in my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt failed without any warning while shifting up a hill. my understanding is it was due to a faulty flywheel and clutch system which hyundai has apparently known about since the model release. even though there had been a class action lawsuit against them for this exact matter, hyundai does not seem to think they are responsible for repairing it. this componant should absolutely be recalled and hyundai held responsible for failing their customers and then charging upwards of $3000 to repair a problem that they know exists. because the clutch system is solely responsible for the propulsion of the vehicle, having faulty ones on the road is an extreme hazard. mine failed while shifting up a hill on a normally busy road. it was very fortunate there was light traffic that day and i had a parking lot close by to coast into. the way hyundai is handling this issue is nothing short of theft, and a blatant disregard for public safety.

2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 6-speed manual transmission. the clutch failed after only 30000 miles. i have driven cars with manual transmissions for 20 years. this one was no abused or used for racing. i have never had a clutch go out after so few miles. the problem seem to be caused by a defect in the design of the clutch system. there is a restrictor valve that does not allow the clutch to fully engage until 1 second after the clutch pedal is fully released. this appears to be a wide scale problem. there are posts all over the internet about this defect. *tr

Vehicle equipt with low profile sports tires. while driving on sr2 in jeruselum township ohio i lost control of the vehicle and began skidding on black ice. anti-lock brakes did not engage to my knowledge and $9000 damage was done to the vehicle. rear axle failed during the impact into an embankment which absorbed much of the impact. side airbag deployed as designed but front did not. i am assuming that this is due to me sliding backwards up the embankment without any direct frontal impact. i walked away from it but am concerned about the fact that hyundai has marketed this car towards the younger invinvible generation who do not realize these tires aren't made for fast driving in bad weather. i am also concerned about why the antilock brakes did not engage. the car is at brown automotive and is still awaiting repair. i have informed the insurance company about the brakes and will follow up with this report when i get word.*ak

I am having problems with the clutch. it is having trouble engaging and disengaging. the clutch does this when the engine is cold and even at times when it is not cold. i took it to the dealership and they replaced the master cylinder due to defect but claimed that the clutch also needed to be replaced due to wear. my car had 59,800 miles when it took it in for the problem. after the fix it still has the same problem. *tr

My car is an 03 hyundai tiburon. it was manufactured on july 23, 2002. i was reading on newtiburon.com that there was a class action complaint for cars manufactured before april of 2003, in reference to the clutches going bad. now i bought my car used and the owner before said the clutch was replaced at 45,000 miles. the car now has 54,000 miles on it and the clutch grabs really hard and sometimes is hard to drive. i have to release the clutch very slow in order for the car not to jerk hard. in the newtiburon.com forum they were saying some part was bad and can be replaced by the dealer. i was just wondering if my car has the bad part and should be replaced. *tr

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt (6 speed manual transmission) that has experienced a premature clutch failure. the car has only 45,000 miles on it, and i drive it quite conservatively. the failure is not from normal wear and tear. there are design defects that directly lead to this (and many other) premature failures. i have been quoted $2100 in repairs (clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and flywheel + labor) by the dealer. i am looking into alternative solutions--including trading my car in--as i am not confident the defects will be corrected. *tr

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon and my clutch and flywheel both failed at what i think is a little to early. it is driven with care and extremely well maintained. i had a new clutch put in by a professional transmission shop and did not replace the flywheel, just the clutch and hydraulics. within one business week, my new clutch has failed for a second time and the dealership wants $800 just for the flywheel so i can then take back to the shop and have them install it with my new clutch! *tr

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 and had a clutch problem twice and the warranty did not cover it. i researched online and found out that many other drivers had the same problems. everytime we went to the dealer they said it was our fault, and made us pay over $1500 for repairs. *tr

My clutch has to be replaced at 39,000 miles. i drive my car well and cannot understand why this has to be replaced. the dealer has quoted me 1700 dollars and are saying that it is not covered under warranty because it is wear and tear. reading all of the other complaints on this clutch it is apparent this is a defective part and the manufacturer should be replacing it for free! pretty sad that hyundai boasts about their 10 year warranty but won't replace anything under it! *tr

Clutch failed at 44,000 miles after buying car used. service department would not fix , stated it was wear and tear. cost $1500 to fix. airbag light stays on, past 65,000 so service department wont fix it unless i pay for it. hatch back latch wont work, $200 to fix that. headlights burn out every other month. brought car to service center because of a noise in the front of car. said they couldnt hear anything. 2000 miles over my warrentee brought car back because it was getting worse, said it was front wheel assembly and would cost $1000 to fix. during cold weather emergency brake sticks took it in and they couldnt find anything wrong, go figure. seats wont latch sometimes after letting someone out from the back. is there a end to the problems that i have with this hyundai.

Complained several times about malfunctioning clutch on 2003 hyundai tiburon which we purchased new, and also paid for an additional warranty, which we were told would pick up the cost of any repairs that were not covered under the mfg. standard 100k bumper-to-bumper warranty. each time we complained we were told that it was the way we were driving the vehicle. clutch has gone out at 57k miles and now they say it is a wear item and not covered under any warranty and will cost $2000.00 to fix. we were never told of the tsb 04-40-005 indicating deformed/defective clutch parts which should be replaced when customer brings vehicle in complaining of clutch problems. car is sitting at dealership and we are waiting for a written denial of coverage from mfg. and a written estimate of cost from dealer before we proceed. however, we see that there are hundreds of complaints on this clutch system and a class action lawsuit has been filed against hyundai in orange county superior court, case #06cc00052. there should be a recall for this item/vehicle before somebody gets killed or kills somebody else because they cannot control their vehicle due to the malfunctioning of this part. *tr

I purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt with 6 speed manual transmission because of the advertised 100,000 mile power-train warranty. in 2005 the clutch and pressure plate failed and i returned it to the dealer for warranty service. i was informed that the clutch assembly was a wear item, had probably been abused, and was not covered. i have driven hundreds of thousands of manual shift miles in several cars and never had a clutch failure. it was repaired at a cost of over $800 and not reimbursed by hyundai. in july 2007, the clutch again malfunctioned and the clutch hydraulics and flywheel had to be replaced at a cost of over $1800. the company and dealers continue to claim that the failures are not the fault of the vehicle's design, but are rather the fault of the driver. my research on the nhtsa site shows over 650 nearly identical complaints from owners of 2003-2004 hyundai tiburons gt's and nearly none on 2005-2007. i believe that hyundai knows of the faulty design on earlier models and has remedied the problem on later models but will not acknowledge it or rebate the repair costs to those owners that have had these catastrophic clutch assembly problems on 2003 models. a full investigation should be made into these fraudulent practices of hyundai usa and restitution should be made to the injured owners of 2003 hyundai gt's with manual transmissions. *jb

Tl*- the contact stated that the 2003 hyundai tibron gt, had sev stalling problems and clutch failure. the contact stated that at 19,000 miles the vehicle stalled while driving 30 mph. the pedal went to the floor and all power on dash board was lost. the contact called the dealership and stated that the stalling resulted due to a failure in the clutch, but the repair was not covered under warranty. the contact had the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop, and the vehicle had a complete clutch assembly repair. the contact stated that in 11/06 the vehicle started having a loud noise from the engine area, and the vehicle was difficult to shift. the contact took the vehicle to the dealership and was told that they couldn't reproduce the failure, and that the difficulty in shifting was because she didn't know how to drive the manual transmission. the contact stated that during the week of 1/15/07 the vehicle wouldn't drive forward or reverse. she took vehicle to a mechanic, and he told her it was the dual mass flywheel that malfunctioned. the contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer with file # 1031455. the contact took the old flywheel to the dealership, and the mechanic told the contact it was from owner's error. *ak

I purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon used with 24,000 miles on the vehicle. i drove it for approximately 6,000 miles with no evident problems. suddenly the clutch went out of the car. i found out that the clutch had already been replaced at 18,000 miles due to a failed bearing/ceased fly wheel. hyundai dealership told my sales agent that the clutch would be replaced under the 6/60,000 warranty. i had the car towed to them. after taking the clutch off, they decided the failure was due to wear and tear and that the warranty would not cover a wear and tear item. i contacted customer service and they refused to authorize repairs. on carspace automotive forums, i have found that numerous 2003 tiburon purchases have resulted in failed clutches multiple times in the early life of the vehicle. it is obvious that this is defective equipment and hyundai should be forced to recall the clutch assembly and transmission in these vehicles. mechanics i talked to believe the transmission is not completely releasing the clutch. this vehicle was purchased by my son who is a us marine. i think it is disgraceful that a korean company is cheating our young soldiers. *nm

I own a 2003 tiburon with the 2.7l. i purchased the car in 2003. around 14 thousand miles or so my clutch began slipping and then eventually failed. the car had a failure of the clutch disk, pressure plate, and flywheel, and the dealer informed the driver the failure was their fault and it would not be covered. a one time good will repair was made and instead of the exorbitant $2000 asked instead we only paid $500. the car was purchased for about $20,000. hyundai asks for $2,000, 10% of the cost of the vehicle to repair it. 40,000 miles have now reached the odometer, and the clutch has now failed again. the clutch that is currently in my vehicle is one replaced in 2003 still. hyundai revised the clutch components due to malformed clutch plates in 2004, yet refuses to acknowledge or compensate the owners. two of the three parts of the vehicle that have failed are covered by hyundai's america's best warranty, the flywheel and pressure plate. because the deformed compound on the clutch disk is being blamed on the vehicle operator, hyundai has therefore absolved itself of any responsibility, claiming if it weren't for the operator induced failure of the clutch disk, the pressure plate and flywheel would still be ok. if the parts were replaced under warranty by a dealership then the regional parts director inspects it and deems it shouldn't have, the dealer must pay. this is why so many customers have to wrongly pay. if you dispute the claims of the technicians at hyundai they will take your car apart and inspect, and if it is deemed its the customers fault, the company will not even reassemble the car for you. you must pay them do it! the transmission case had major scraping and abrasion due to the pressure plate movement. the second set of clutch components were removed personally, and therefore are submittable for inspection and review. photographs documenting the wear and abrasion inside the transmission case are available. *nm

I purchased the vehicle with 50000 miles on it. when i first purchased the vehicle i came into contact with a community of people with the same vehicle. the community is newtiburon.com. my vehicle is a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 6 speed. there are literally hundreds of people with the same complaint as me. as soon as i received the car i still had 10000 miles of warranty. so i took the vehicle to roseville hyundai to explain that there original clutch for my vehicle was a defective product that they had a tsb out on for replacement. i attend wyoming technical institute(which is an automotive tech school) they told me that it wasn't covered under warranty even though it is a defective part that they even have a replacement part for. i believe they were just trying to avoid the $2000 repair for them. since i was so close to not being under warranty. i understand that a clutch is a wearable part, but when the company that produces a part and says themselves that there is a defective product on there vehicle and if any cars come in with this part it needs to be removed and replaced with the new part. the tsb number is tsb 04-40-005. the defective part number is 10/01/2001-02/24/2003....4110039140 the new part is 02/24/2003-present.......4110039145 now within this, if your car was manufactured before 02/01/03 you definitely have the defective part and you should get it replaced by the dealer. my car was manufactured on 01/13/03. the clutch and flywheel combo does not mate well together and causes premature clutch failure. whereas in my car my clutch slips at anything more that 1/4 throttle. *nm

I bought a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt 3 weeks ago from a dealership, medlin motors inc., in rocky mount, nc. i started smelling a burning smell the day i bought the car and asked the dealer what it was and they told me it was probably brake rust or residue coming off from where it was sitting up for a while. so i then dismissed the problem until about 3 weeks later i smelt that smell again and soon after the clutch started slipping. i immediately called the dealership and asked them to fix it. they then picked up the vehicle and took it to their shop. i was under the impression that the warranty would cover it until the next day when we received a phone call stating that the repair bill would be $1700.00. with this information i told them i couldn't afford to repair it since i had just put a $1400.00 down payment on the vehicle 3 weeks prior. they still refuse to fix this problem without a payment of $1700.00. in its simplest form, i paid $1400.00 to drive a car for a month and now i am obligated to a $13000.00 loan for a car i can't drive which is still 30 minutes away at the shop. *nm

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt with 6-speed standard transmission and 46000 miles. i live in indianapolis, in and the car was manufactured in october of 2002. recently i have been experiencing problems with the clutch in this car. i took it to the dealer and they told me that the failure is due to my driving habits and they have no responsibility under warranty for this problem. i have been arguing with them for about a week now because of all of the claims on the web that are exactly like what i am going through with this same car. they have given me a quote of 1356 dollars to replace the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel and said that they would pay 50% of this as goodwill. the whole situation seems unbelievable to me. i have driven a standard transmission for several years and have never had any other car with these problems. the dealer who is servicing the car even says that the clutch should last twice as long as it has. hyundai motor america's corporate office is who i have been arguing with about this issue and i think that they may be just offering to pay half because they know that they really should pay for the whole thing. i just don't know what to do because there is no way for me to know what is truly going on with this situation and whether hma is lying to me or not. i appreciate any help. thank you. *nm

My 2003 hyundai tiburon v6 6-speed manual transmission car has had 2 clutch failures. the first occurred at 29000 miles and cost me nearly $800 to repair. after clutch replacement with an identical clutch kit, it failed again on me 5/29/2006 just 3000 miles later. this repair will cost me much more, most likely around $1500. i understand that their is faulty clutch that comes with the tiburon gt as numerous problems have been reported in relation to early clutch failure. it is unacceptable for the clutch to fail twice within 33000 miles. *nm

2003 tiburon - gtv6 - 6 spd. man.l - purchased may 2003, new. during summer'05 with about 20,000 miles, transmission started acting weird, getting harder to shift into lower gears, from up or down. would at times actually hang in 2nd, (power to the wheels) even with the clutch fully depressed! (surprising, and dangerous, when attempting to stop in traffic !) had to really bump the stick hard to get it out of gear. took to hyundai dealer that sold car, whose head mechanic drove car - said there was no problem and tried to tell me i didn't know how to drive a stick. this was irritating since i have driven manuals my entire life going back to the early 70's. this dealers service manager advised i take car to their sister-dealer, which i did, on 09-05, with 24,379 miles on the car. after driving it, they agreed there was a problem, but needed to disassemble it to find out what. while there, another customer told me she was on her 3rd new clutch in her '03 gtv6 - the last one at her expense. later at my office, i did a web search to find the tib clutch problem was alarmingly common. the service mgr called later to say the clutch/flywheel was burned up, because of the way i'd driven it, and that i'd have to pay $2,000+ to fix it. i said bullc--p, and after stating my knowledge of the ongoing tib clutch problems, he relented and said they'd do it under warranty - but only once. next one would be on me if it happened again. parts replacement list for this work: 41100-39140 disc assy clutch *** 41300-39115 cover assy clutch 41421-39000 bearing clutch release 23260-37311 flywheel assy note *** : this is not the part# recommended by hyundai's tsb, which is 41100-39145. they put the old part# back in my vehicle. have had no similar problems yet (now at 32,500 miles), but when (not if) the clutch fails again, i'm want hyundai to make good to replace again - so anything you can do to help folks like us would be appreciated.*jb

I purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon gtv6 - 6 speed in april of 2003. 20,000 miles later, thought normal wear and tear, my clutch went out. the dealer replaced my clutch and flywheel using a technical service bulletin. now, at 48,000 miles (28,000 miles later), my clutch has failed again. i am in no way a hard driver, and am a very experienced manual transmission driver. this failure is costing me $2000 to repair, and has put me and my family in a financial strain. clutches should not go out this quickly, and there are many others who have had the same problems with no manufacturer resolution. i hope that this message reaches far; hyundai should address this problem immediately. i'm afraid that next time my clutch will fail on the highway and the circumstances may be a lot worse. *jb

Two days ago i noticed a weird scraping noise coming from under my hood, and my clutch began to feel different, i could feel the scrape. the next day, at mid day thinking about taking the car to have it checked, the clutch goes to the floor and is just completely gone in an instant. i had the car towed to the shop and i have been told that the clutch and flywheel are completely gone and need new ones. i have been reading that the newer clutches and flywheel are supposed to be better and are supposed to be the ones installed in the cars, hopefully that is what happens with mine. the parts are to be replaced but all the cost is on me. *nm

I have a 2.7l v6 tiburon from 03 and currently have my car in the shop for a new clutch at 22.5k miles on it. at first i was shocked and convinced that they would find something else wrong with the car that caused the clutch to wear prematurely. however, their assessment was that i abused the clutch with abnormal driving causing it to overheat. they also commented that there was no unusual wear on the tires but they noticed a cold air intake (hated the silent wine of stock) which points to hard driving. they then proceeded to tell me that the clutch is not covered under warranty after 12k miles and that it would be $2,200 to fix. this is my second manual transmission vehicle in 13 years and i drove my previous one around 100k miles without ever having to replace the clutch. i know how to drive stick and i don't ride the clutch or drive like a maniac so i went online looking for similar problems other people may have had. sure enough there is an abundance of threads about the 03 clutch problems with many of them wearing out around the same mileage as mine. as i continue to read up on it i find that they did change the clutch they were putting into the 03 tiburon's very quickly and yet they maintain that there is nothing wrong with the old ones. it is a dangerous situation with these clutches going out so often and early. hyundai knows there was a problem with the clutches they put in the 03 tiburon and refuses to accept responsibility for it. after researching this clutch i'm convinced it is a bad part, not bad drivers causing this problem. there is even a class action lawsuit in the making over this issue. *nm

I am having severe issues with the manual clutch on my 2003 hyundai tiburon. my vehicle has only 23,000 miles and is experiencing severe clutch slippage. i had the clutch examined at 12,000 miles and was told that everything was fine. now hyundai is telling me that they believe that the clutch plate is glazed and will likely need to be replaced. hyundai stated that this is due to normal wear and tear and is not covered by the warranty. it is my understanding that almost all of the 2003 hyundai tiburon's have this same issues and many have had to be repaired several times and still experience clutch failure. *nm

Bought a used 2003 hyundai tiburon with 18,484 miles on it. it has been driven responsibly for 10,000 miles and now gear oil combined with clutch dust is leaking from one of the gear box seals. the service technician at herb chambers hyundai on southbridge st. in auburn, ma says this will require a clutch and seal replacement with the likelihood of a flywheel replacement as well. for all of this, the estimated cost is $322 parts and $900 labor. i find this unacceptable from a car company known for its warranty and a safety hazard to owners experiencing this same issue. it is unheard of for this to happen so prematurely in a vehicle and may be ignored by other owners. *jb

Began having trouble shifting from any gear to any other gear without double clutching. took vehicle to dealership where it was determined that the clutch was bad. following the advice of the dealership i ordered an aftermarket clutch and an aftermarket flywheel. the dealer recommended doing this because of durability issues with the stock setup. once the dealer began the replacement of the clutch and flywheel itself they then determined that the entire transmission (6 speed) needed to be replaced. according to the dealership, the hyundai regional rep. wanted to go against a technical service bulletin and simply fix the problem with the trans itself. the dealer actually had to fight with the rep to follow hyundai's own tsb. the dealership itself was great and defiantly honest about the clutch problems on the 03 tib v6 6sp, but i still feel that hyundai needs to own up to the issue and reimburse people for aftermarket clutches because the stock system is not built to handle the kind of stresses that the engine exerts on it. i have only owned manuel trans cars and drive mainly highway miles. i have never had to replace a clutch before 130,000 miles... my tiburon's required clutch, flywheel and trans replacement at about 40,000 miles... even though the trans itself was covered by warranty, it still cost over $1000 for parts and labor to the clutch itself (far cheaper than the $2000 or so it costs to buy the stock setup). having a clutch and trans go at 40,000 miles is unacceptable, knowing that this is not unusual for the tibby only makes the issue more unacceptable. *jb

Dealer has been great. corp rep=bad. purchased brand new on dec 31 02, and driven 3400 miles before clutch related problems were first introduced. i was told it would be replaced under warranty and made an appointment a month later. that was the earliest i could bring it in and be left without a car for 3 days. car had approximately 11,400 miles on the odometer. i brought the car in with the dealer then warranted the clutch disc, flywheel, pressure plate and throw out bearing, but replaced them with the same parts as before, which was really a temporary fix to the general problem being design failure, being there are numerous part number changes from 02-04. that night i contacted the dealer again, and reported that the issue was still not fixed, and there was still not a smooth engagement and that the clutch was still juddering. the service said drive the car for 2 weeks and make sure it wasn't me not being used to the new clutch put in the car. i drove it for 2 weeks, and called back only to be denied warranty from the corporate representative at the time(she is no longer there)(not by the dealer) i have now had judder and mild random slippage and have dealt with this for the past 70,000 miles. i did under dealers advice take out a valve located in the slave cylinder to allow more hydraulic fluid through at one time in order to allow for better engagement and less wear to the clutch. the valve is not in the clutch slave cylinder in the 04 and new cars. *jb

Owned my 2003 hyundai tiburon for about 36 months. during that time i have had to replace the clutch and flywheel twice. this is ridiculous. i have been driving manual transmissions since 1967 and have never burnt a clutch. and i am not alone. there are hundreds and hundreds of documented cases on the net and perhaps even thousands. each repair costs $1500-$2000. the first repair in november 2004 cost me $1800. both failures happened in traffic and both times had to take evasive maneuver to prevent an accident. the last time i ended up in a highway ditch to prevent a 40 ft trailer from running my car over. somebody better take a look at this car because it definitely has clutch / flywheel problems probably cause by poorly designed hydraulics. the way the hydraulics are designed causes the fluid to be restricted in one direction leading to smoother shifting, but it is this smoother shifting (slipping) that apparently is causing the excessive heat and burning up the clutches and flywheels. is there someone out there in government that cares enough to address this problem? corporate giant hyundai is not stepping up to correct this problem. at the rate of these failures, however, i'm destined to have another one. i am really afraid to drive it. is anyone going to do anything about this? or are they going to allow corporate giant hyundai to rip off the citizens of this country? i will be contacting my us senator and will be contacting the heads of the senate committees that oversee the nhtsa. i've noticed that complaints have been filed here for quite some time and nothing has been done, not even an investigation. *** there is only space in this complaint for one failure date. my first failure occurred in november 2004, and the second failure occurred in december 2005 (repaired in march 2006). why so long in repairing? i refused to pay for it unless hyundai did something. i have records of all the repairs if needed. *nm

Clutch slipped on occasion - began to emit odor when driving in slow traffic (rush hour) conditions... slippage gradually got worse to the point the car became unreliable. went to dealership - tech determined clutch & flywheel needed to be replaced - gave me a 1700 estimate and said warranty wouldn't touch it (result of operator error). i went ahead and ordered an oem clutch from the dealer & an aftermarket flywheel (and rented a car for 2 weeks while i waited for my parts to arrive) and had my own mechanic install my parts. total cost out of my pocket was 1400. turns out the clutch the dealer gave me was not the 'new' part (tsb 04-40-005) and now my clutch is rattling and has now began to show signs of failure. *jb

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 ,6 speed manual 29000 miles original tires. the problem started when i had difficulty putting my car into reverse. this normally happened when the engine was cold. once the vehicle was placed into gear, a low wining sound would be noticed with my foot on the clutch, this would eventually go away as the car would warm up. after the car warmed up, the gears would shift normally and i could shift into any gear. after about a month the problem progressed to having difficulty putting the car into first gear and reverse. after another month the car would not go into first or reverse with the engine on. again as soon as the car warms up the gears shift normally and the noise will go away, this only occurs with a cold car. i finally took the car into the ford dealer (hyundai service center) and they told me that the clutch would have to be replaced and that this was due to my diving practices. they also claimed that the clutch was not covered under warranty and that it would cost me $1800 to repair. i argued that i have been driving manual transmissions for over 25 years and that i only use this car to go to work and back. they insisted that it was a wear-out item and that i was at fault. finally after some argument, they contacted the hyundai regional manager in georgia and he agreed to pay for the replacement of the fly wheel, but that i would still have to pay for the clutch and labor to replace that. i took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and he confirmed that indeed the clutch had some wear, but he also pulled up a service bulletin (04-40-005) that claimed that the flywheel was deformed and that if the vehicle was produced before april 2003, (which mine was as i purchased it in february of 2003); verify the condition reported by the customer as clutch related; replace the dual mass flywheel, clutch disk, clutch cover and clutch release bearing. *jb

I initially had trouble getting my v6, 6 speed, 2003 hyundai tiburon, to shift into reverse and 1st gear after it sat over night. this problem progressed within 3 days to where i could not shift into any gear without great difficultly. this occurred while driving in heavy traffic but i was able to get it back to the dealership. they have advised me that the clutch and flywheel are bad and must be replaced. i have approximately 57,500 miles on the car. this is mostly highway driving miles. i am being charged approximately $1800 for this repair by the dealership. when i called the hyundai customer service number they advised me that they were unaware of any problems with the clutches on the tiburon. the service department told me that this defect was due to my driving. after reading the reports on this site, that is obviously not true.

My son craig bowman owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon that has 21,063 miles on it. he bought it when it had 10,000 miles. the clutch went out on it, and the dealer says it is not covered under the warranty. when this clutch goes out you have a hard time getting the vehicle into and out of gear. normally, when a clutch plate goes out you lose power due to slippage, but you can always disengage the transmission by depressing the clutch plate and relieving the tension of the pressure plate. this system seems to make it hard to disengage the system. i have been doing research, and have found that a great many of these cars experience the same problem with the same amount of miles. also, i have found that technical service bulletin tsb# 04-40-005 was issued that describes a clutch revision for 2003 tiburons with v6 engine and standard transmission built before april 1, 2003. to me this is an indication that there is a definite problem with this vehicle, and hyundai is doing nothing about it. please could you help address this issue. *ak

In december 2004 while driving my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt, the clutch went out and i was unable to shift properly in traffic, this incident almost cause a multi-car collection. i had to coast to the side of the road and turn off engine, shift into 1st gear then start the car. i called the hyundai dealership for help and they told me that the clutch warranty ran out at 12000 miles, i couldnt afford to pay their high costs so i bought a new clutch and had it fixed by a mechanic i could afford. it runs the same due to the flywheel and the warranty covers up to 50,000 miles --now the dealership is refusing to fix it because another mechanic worked on it. they knew this at the time i called the first time-----i just read the tsb #0440005 the procedure was not follled by them --it says clearly that the clutch and flywheel are deformed and need to be replace if the customer calls in about a clutch problem like i did --they never did--if they did i would never had got it fixed by another mechanic and bought the same factory clutch again that was deformed they never told me. help please . *ak

Less than one month after work was done to my shift bezel, my clutch failed. was 3 months over warranty. tried to go to mediation two times, never recieved a return call. sent a certified letter, and finally after 8 months, i am being offered a 50% refund on the $1911.00 i was charged to fix. i have researched online, and this has happened to hundreds of people, some multiple times. found documentation stating hyundai is aware of the probelm.

There were no events leading up to failure. driving to work and everything was normal then stopped at a stop light and the car did not want to accelerate and go through the intersection at a normal speed. dealership explained that the clutch went out and possibly the fly wheel. (fly wheels are covered under warranty. the dealership is saying it is not and that there is a hydrolic clutch in the car and is normal to go out with out any prior notification.) my car is still sitting at the dealership and is not being fixed due to a discrepency regarding warranty and due to what i feel is a safety issue with a part in the car giving out with out notification. (was also given an examply by someone at corporate that when your breaks fail they do not give warning which i know is not true because you will hear a screaming sound.) i also only have around 30,600 miles on the car and the clutch and fly wheel should not have gone out that soon.

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon and when the weather is cold it was difficult to shift the car into any gear. since the company advertises a bumper to bumper warranty i wasn't to worried about this. finally i had the chance to drop the car off at the dealership for a check engine light. when i picked the car up the service manager told me that the clutch was worn out and not covered under warranty. he also told me that the flywheel would need to be replaced alos not covered under the warranty because the failed clutch caused the problem. i was told that to repair them both would be around seventeen hundred dollars . *ak

I have a 2003 tiburon v6 5 speed with 34,000 miles. clutch is completely burnt out and hyundai says it is normal wear and tear...absolutely not true , especially from the hundreds and hundreds of complaints i've seen. i was just told by a mechanic (not at hyundai shop--they were too expensive) that the flywheel has a faulty component, and that if i put a new clutch in, it will eat that one too. this is going to cost me min. $1500. hyundai needs to admit they have a problem and fix it. its too late for me, i'll never own another hyundai, but we need to be reimbursed and the cars need recalled immediately. *nm

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon with 30000 miles. i recently took it to the dealership and they told me i need a new clutch. i then did some research into this problem and found many other owners with the same problem. hyundai is claiming its because of driving habits but the mechanic who fixed my car (not hyundai dealer) found no abuse signs. i dont know what will come out of this but i hope someone investigates this problem before someone gets hurt driving one of these cars. the website for the car is www.tuscani.be go into forum and into the general section and read the clutch problem comments. *ak

I have had my clutch and transmission repaired since 9-02. then i was told about a defective part in the transmission, but it was no repaired at the time. i was told i could drive the vehicle, so i believed the service technician. in 6-03, once again i the defective clutch assembly, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate and the throw out bearing were replaced, and the sunroof motor was replaced for the second time. on 10-03 sunroof was repaired again. on 5-04 the sunroof was repaired again. on7-21-04 i advised service department my gears were getting stuck, but all the serviceman did was removed starter and told the rep it was covered with clutch disc material, therefore it was not covered by my powertrain warranty. it is the transmission that was not fixed on 9-02 that was the problem and they refuse to check it. i have a 2003 tiburon!!!*ak

Clutch slips while trying to accelerate to any speed. was entering highway and car would not accelerate on ramp almost causing a fatal accident. dealership says i ride the clutch and wore it out. i have owned several manual transmission cars in the past and never once had a clutch go bad. car only has 29000 miles on it. mechanic told me that even with riding the clutch there is no way it should go out so soon. faulty clutch assembly??? i think so. hyundai needs to step up to their responsibilities and send a recall so that all of these near accidents don't turn into fatalities. fatalities due to faulty parts=lawsuits...lawsuits=millions. get your act together hyundai. *jb

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon v6. it has 22500 miles and the clutch has gone out. we took it back to the dealer and they told us 3 times it would be covered by the warranty. after having the car for 8 days they called to say that the parts wont be covered due to abuse. after talking to hyundai they will not cover any part of repairing this. this car is a daily driver, not a race car! i believe hydunai knows their clutchs are bad -- we need a recall. *jb

I bought a 2003 hyundai tiburon in may of 2003. i drove it off the lot with 5 miles on it. 200 miles down the road, i stop at a light and come to find that the car wont go into gear. well we pushed the car off the road and had it towed. the dealer told me the next day that i needed a new clutch. now that i have 22000 miles the clutch is gone again and they will not replace it under my oh so over used 100,000 mile warranty. word is, there is a clause in the warranty that states the clutch is not part of that warranty, the clutch has a separate 12,000 mile warranty of its own. nobody at the dealer ever tells anyone this. so now i am stuck with a bill for over 1500 dollars. i have driven over 75,000 miles in a manual, and have never had a clutch burn out. something needs to be done to make hyundai back their word, and also fix the faulty clutch problem in their cars. *la

Tiburon 2003 vt v6 has 18000 miles on it and clutch fails on highway. will not shift out of first gear. took it to the dealership where they kept it for three days and needed a authorization to take apart the transmission. service people found that the disc was completely hot and worn down, which damaged bearings. not covered under 100000 warranty because disk was worn down. clutch is faulty and they replace faulty clutches over and over again. they want 1400 dollars for it, with a 50 % off from the corporation. we need all clutches recalled and people's money back now!!!! they don't want to be responsible for consumer fraud!!!! check www.mycarstats.com http://www.tuscani.be/forum/index.cfm/act/show_messages/thread_id/328. *ak .

Dealer states that the clutch and flywheel on our 2003 hyundai tiburon has worn out and is need of replacement. the vehicle was sold with a 100,000 mile 10/yr. powertrain warranty and 5/yr 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. dealer states that the fine print in the warranty specifies that the clutch is a maintenance part not covered by the above warranties past 12,000 miles. estimated repair is $1,500. dealer and hyundai customer service informed us that rough driving was the principle cause of this problem. the vehicle has 38,000 miles and all drives have driven manual transmissions in excess of 100,000 miles on previous vehicles. internet research has disclosed many other owners with exact similar treatment and problem. *ak

I own an 03' 5spd tiburon gt although i love my car, the look, feel, and comfort it affords me as a daily driver. it has been plagued with many defective parts from sunroof track (twice) , leaky sunroof onto factory amp (in heavy rain) , alternator(exibited noise and smell batt. light came on),drivers side window motor(thankfully window stuck in closed position). the most disconcerting problem of all however is the clutch assembly.the first clutch failed after only 6052miles and was replaced under warranty but on the service invoice it states advised customer 1 time replacement on cluch and related componets so much for the great warranty. now my tibby has 28000 miles on it and the clutch has wore out again, only this time the incident occured in a congested highway during 5:00 traffic. i depressed the clutch only to recieve a chrrssshhh noise, the clutch wouldent allow me to engage any gear i was almost rearended which i'm sure would've caused a pile up. swerving into the adjacent lane to avoid impact,i pressed the flashers and coasted my way throuch traffic. the dealership insists my driving habbits are the cause of the problem. i have driven many manual cars and have had no clutch issues on any of them. this is ridiculous 2 clutches in 28000miles something is really wrong,i know there are many of us out there with this same problem if your reading this now chances are you have the same problem. dont take it,file complaints, spread the word, we've got to keep huyndai honest if enough of us complain they will have to fix this problem and if you've already paid for a new clutch you could get deserved rembursement. the bottom line your not alone lets help eachother with this. *ak

After 15,000 miles, my new 2003 hyundai tiburon's clutch failed to engage on interstate 76. the service reps at hyundai insists the clutch failure is due to not driving the hydraulic clutch properly. i have driven a clutch for seven years and never has one needed to be replaced, especially after only 15,000 miles. the service rep at hyundai even stated that it would probably fail again in another 15,000 miles. meanwhile, the warranty on the clutch only lasted up until 12,000 miles. performing a search on this issue, i have found there are a number of 2003 hyundai tiburon owners with clutches that have failed in 15,000 miles or less. i would like this item to be recalled so all owners can have their expenses reimbursed. *la

There have been several people with clutch problems who own the 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 5 and 6 speed transmissions. hyundai refuses to acknowledge this problem and replace the clutch's on those vehicles affected. the clutch is wearing prematurely well before the 12 year 12000 mile warranty ends to cover such problems. this is a safety risk for the following reasons. 1. vehicle fails to move on a highway. 2. vehicle breaks down in a remote area where assistance would be hard to get. 3. vehicle fails to operate properly leaving motorist stranded. *la

The clutch of our '03 tiburon v6 (6-spd) burnt out at 10000 miles ... neither i nor my wife who drove the car 99% of the time are the racing type ... yet the dealership (huffines hyundai of plano, tx) was quick to blame us for it ... they were willing to service it even after much chastizing ... the new clutch felt great on day one but by day 30, even with extreme babying of the clutch given how we were insulted, we could see how the clutch was starting to act up ... it has been a few months now where i am just waiting for that thing to burn out again ... we have had many vehicles and most of them with manual transmissions and i have never ever seen such poor parts and workmanship. hyundai should finally just bite the bullet, recall the vehicles and put in the appropriate parts. the existing clutch is obviously not able to handle the torque (oh, let's not forget they had _over_estimated the engine's output and we didn't find out until months after we purchased it!).*ak

I bought a 2003 tiburon 6/15/05, for $14,000 8/27/05 started making grinding noises, smoking, sounded like engine blew up. towed to romero motors, ontario, closest hyundai dealer. i had original warranty & extended warranty. romero motors said replace clutch $1,400. i could not afford it & took to my mechanic. opening engine hood there were metal shavings all over engine, and it cut tranny case in half. i called claremont ford/mazda (purchased car there)and was instructed to bring it to them. they towed it to romero motors. i called claremont ford/mazda and was advised to call romero motors. again, i was told by romero motors it was clutch wear n tear item & clutch took out transmission/no coverage under warranty. new estimate $3,400.00, and to my horror charged $818 tear down fee to put car back together. i again took it to my mechanic, purchased $920 in parts to fix problem paid my mechanic to fix. 100% hyundai parts. it ran a week and gears went out, this time i took it to a different dealership, glendora hyundai, where i had bought parts they gave me estimate of $2,700 gear shift installed backwards tearing up transmission again. i have known this mechanic for 24 years and he told me he put the shifter in exactly the way he took it out. glendora hyundai said that they received numerous complaints about romero motors all the time, that romero's mechanics had probably just thrown my car back together, not bothering to put everything where it belonged, broken parts were left on front seat. so it was very possible that the gearshift was in backwards. this car cost me $4,700, was down from 8/27/05 until one week ago. i have pictures of the clutch and tranny case showing damage, close to sawing into passenger compartment. i filed a complaint with the bar and they cited romero motors. my life has been one big nightmare since 8/27, now i'm finding out this is hydraulic problem and will happen every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. 8jb

*jb

Clutch failure! i am looking at replacing the clutch in this car for the third time. after doing much research on the issue, i have discovered that there are several class actions against hyundai regarding the clutch issue. i have 85k on this car and it has had clutch issues since about 1800 miles. the entire clutch and fly wheel was replaced at 27,618 miles and again at 60k and now again. the problem is the dual mass flywheel. they know and acknowledge this is a common problem with the clutch and explain it away as the way the user drives. but, how can thousands drive so bad that a clutch last only 27k miles? my husband died 2 weeks after the car broke down out of town with the 2nd clutch replacement. due in part to the added stress that this put on us. how many other people have to go through this before hyundai takes this seriously. how many people have to injured physically, emotionally or financially before something is done. we were almost hit by a 18 wheeler when the clutch failed the 2nd time. again, how many people does hyundai have to have this happen to before someone is killed!!!!!!! the date listed below is the 3rd clutch incident date. i have proof of many more defects with this car!!!!! i attribute the death of my husband in part to this continuing problem!!!!! *tr

I have 90,000 miles on my 2003 hyundai tiburon. i have already had the clutch replaced 3 times. once under warranty at 29,000 miles, the second pocket at 43,200 miles and third at 69,500 miles. now at 90,000 miles it is going out again. the first two i made hyundai pay for them but this is getting ridiculous two flywheels at 400.00 dollars each and two kits at 385.00 each. theren hasn got to be a problem with the original design. the master cylinder and slave cylijnder have never needed replacement according to the dealer. they flush and fuill every time. i think this is a scam by hyundai or ots dealers there is obviously a major defect. are there any recalls on this car? please help thank you.

The other day i took my 2003 hyundai tiburon in to be serviced. i noticed the vehicle had been unable to accelerate. the next day i contacted the dealership and they told me that my vehicle needed another clutch. this would be my third clutch in three years considering i hardly drive my vehicle hard. i was shocked and couldn't believe how much they told me it would be to replace the part. in addition, when i drove my car home it was much worse than when i dropped it off the previous day. i refused to pay for the repair because hyundai has been taking advantage of me and my wallet. in the past year i have spent over 5 thousand dollars on my vehicle. my car is kept in immaculate condition and i feel like the parts that hyundai peddles is of low quality. i still have my vehicle under warranty , but all the malfunctions are not covered by the warranty i have...coincidence? probably not.

I believe there is a serious safety issue with hyundai tiburon 2003 clutches. my 2003 hyundai tiburon clutch and flywheel broke on 3 separate occasions since i bought it. at around 10,000 miles, at around 30,000 miles and at around 50,000 miles. each time the hyundai dealer told me it broke because i'm a poor driver, however this is just not true and it appears to also be a problem with everyone else who bought this model as well. i have joined the class action law suit against hyundai for their defective clutches which was recently awarded money for which i am filing a claim form. however, i am contacting you now because i think this is a serious safety concern. i was on dangerous highways two of the three times this happened and was put in very precarious situations. the second time the clutch went out it just completely stopped working. the peddle went into the floor and i only barely had the momentum to carry me over a hill and glide to the side of the road, otherwise i would have been going backwards down the hill or stopped in the middle of a fast moving highway. furthermore, this left me stranded in a very bad area of town for several hours waiting for the tow truck. another time this happened, i was on an uphill curved interstate ramp which was bringing me to merge from the beltway to another interstate and instead of losing the clutch completely at once, i could just barely go 30mph (and deteriorating) and was trying to make it up the hill and merge as cars were zooming by me. while this clutch issue may not be as detrimental of a safety concern as for example brake failure, it still put me in a very scary situation. it seriously concerns me that hyundai has not recalled these clutches, despite the fact that based on the recent settlement they are clearly defective and hyundai knows they are defective.

Clutch does not engage properly during normal driving conditions. it often causes shifter to get stuck in gear or will not engage properly.

Have had this car for less than 2 weeks, have not put 200 miles on it. bought this used vehicle from a local dealership. have not had any issues with this tiburon until yesterday when i noticed that the clutch was a bit stiff and when i tried to put the car into reverse, i had a hard time finding it, it would not let me put it into reverse and i took my foot off of the clutch and retried it, managed to get it into reverse this time, never had any problems beforehand, the engine revved up and car hessitantly moved out of the garage. stopped vehicle, put it into 1st gear and started to drive out of my driveway when i put it into 2nd gear, the car jerked as i let go of the clutch but continued to drive it. got onto the highway and everything was going fine when the traffic started to slow down, went from 6th gear down to 5th gear and the engine revved up and smelled buring rubber, tried to give it some gas to exellerate and would not move, tachometer would show engine revving but was not excellerating at all. managed to coast car off to the side of the road and came to a stop. turned the engine off, waited for a couple of minutes and started engine up again and again smelled the buring rubber; tried to put in first gear, went in but would not move, tried reverse and would not move. called the dealership from where i purchased this vehicle and they did not have a towing service so ended up calling aaa, tow truck driver informed me by the smell that it was more than likely the cluch had gone in it and had some experience with this as he has towed several of these cars for the same reason. car is in repair shop will be worked on monday 5-24-10. so far the dealership said that they will honor the warranty.

Clutch failure during rush hour traffic almost caused several accidents while attempting to remove the car from the freeway. had the car towed to my residence were it is currently sitting inoperable. contacted the dealership and they informed me that they have not heard of any issues with the clutch in this year vehicle and i would have to pay $2300.00 to have it replaced. upon further investigation i found hundreds of other people with the same year car with the exact same problem, and to top it off i have also found a technical service bulletin released by hyundai for defective clutch parts in the same year vehicle. *tr

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt with a 6 speed manual transmission. the clutch has gone out twice in less than 60k miles. i've driven manuals my whole life and never had a clutch go out until this car. after researching this i've found that this car has an unbelievably high number of clutch failures. hyundai even stopped making the original factory part and replaces it with a different part now but they won't admit there was a problem with the first one. thanks, jon *tr

In aug of 2008, with 90k miles on the car, we had noticed that the clutch was becoming hard to in-gage in order to switch gears. we had the vehicle inspected and it was indicated that the clutch master cylinder seals were failing. during this repair the slave cylinder was also replaced . because of the location of these components the clutch assembly was physically inspected during disassembly. the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate appeared burned and at a point of failure, when disassembled a ring on the flywheel was no longer in evidence. if the flywheel does not have this ring there is not anyway for the clutch to work so it was deduced that it decomposed in use and with no evidence of it in disassembly. this is a dual mass flywheel which has been shown to be problematic in other brands of vehicles. the cost of this repair was $2300. the company and dealers continue to claim that the failures are not the fault of the vehicle's design but are the fault driver abuse. believe me, my wife and i have driven dozens of cars with manual transmissions some of which were high performance sports cars and have never had to replace a clutch in any car, three of which were used for amateur racing (others have been driven over 180k miles and sold without the need for a clutch replacement.) research on the nhsta site and others show over 700 identical complaints from owners of 2003-2004 hyundai tiburon gt's and almost zero on 2005-2007. the replacement flywheel assembly (put in the car in aug.2008) had a totally different flywheel retaining device than the original. these two things would indicate that hyundai made corrective actions to fix this problem with later model vehicles and will not acknowledge or rebate repair costs to those owners of the 2003 and early 2004 6 speed clutch assemblies. a full investigation should be made in regards to this problem and restitution should be made to the owners and former owners of the affected vehicles. *tr

Driving on the highway with 50,000 miles on the car and the clutch and flywheel both failed. hyundai refused to cover the repairs under warranty. even though there is a technical service bulletin out for my vehicle model year saying there are deformed clutch components, hyundai quoted me over 2,000 to fix the problem. i took it to an independent service shop where i paid 1,700 instead. repeated attempts to contact the company have yielded no results. *tr

I have a 2003 tiburon gt with a 6 speed transmission. i've had to replace the clutch twice in under 30k miles. i've checked with other tiburon owners and they said it's a defect in the clutch assembly. hyundai won't admit a problem even though a lot of people are having this issue apparently. *tr

Normal driving, 2003 hyundai tiburon gt, 6 speed transmission. can not get into gear. car is undrivable. dealer found that the flywheel came apart and damaging clutch, causing clutch, flywheel, and throughout bearing to need replacement. hyundai knows there was a problem with it and will not warranty it. i have called hyundai and was not very satisfied with the results of our conversation. i was hung up on and accused of being rude for asking to talk with some one who could help me. *nm

I have 2003 v6 tiburon, clutch failed at 19,000 miles. i learned to drive on manual transmission, have driven 6 years and never any clutch problems until this car. dealership blamed me stating owner abuse. had hyundai regional rep come out and she also blamed me, and said there were no other complaints on 2003 tiburons. told her about this site and she said oh well, that's from people who race their cars and abuse them, we're not taking responsibility for their problems that they've caused themselves. dealership was great, they came down on cost of repair from $1700 to $1400. they replaced all parts with 2004 parts and i haven't had any other problems, even though i still drive the same as i always did, so how can it be owner abuse that caused the problem? if it was my fault then why hasn't it happened again? my mom bought 2004 5 speed tiburon (she bought it before my problems started) and hasn't had any trouble at all. seems hyundai did realize there was a problem with 2003 clutch assembly and wouldn't ever admit it, but changed parts for 2004. they need to acknowledge this widespread problem and reimburse all owners that have paid out of pocket to repair something that was hyundai's fault in the first place. *nm

 1. bought a 2003 hyundai tiburon v6, 6-spd (manual transmission) -- event: no event. simply drove the car as normal. 2. less then 23,000 miles my clutch gave out. 3. i had to replace the clutch assembly, flywheel and throwout bearing. parts and labor cost me over $1500 in repairs. less the 23k miles and i had to pay over $1500 for transmission repair. this is a common problem that owners of this year, make and model are experiencing. yet, hyundai refuses to do anything about it except force their customers to commit to a very expensive car repair early in the life of the vehicle. no car under normal wear and tear should have as much work done as myself and many others have had to deal with. this needs to be set up as a recall by hyundai and those of us hammered by this should be reimbursed. *nm

I experienced my clutch failing at night on the way home this december. it was okay, then it went all the way to the floor. hyundai usa was contacted and had been told that my bumper to bumper 100,000 extended warranty would cover the repair. the local dealer told me that it isn't covered. after battling between national and local i brought the car home and had a friend, experienced mechanic, replace what i had been told was the problem, the slave cylinder. it still has the same problem. now, i have a fairly new car, i still can't drive. i have found several dozen consumers complaining of the same thing. tsb's have come out on this model and yet, i am getting the run around from the dealer and hyundai usa. *jb

On july 04 2003, we purchased a 2003 new hyundai tiburon from philpott motors in nederland. the vin # is kmhhn65f13u099465. it started on dec 19, 20031 when the passenger window motor had to be replaced under warranty. then, on dec. 22, 20031 the vehicle had a coolant leak that was repaired under warranty. on february 16, 2004 the clutch went out all of a sudden with any warning. to april of 2003. in which all the parts they replaced have a production date of april 2003. in august of 2004 seven months later the clutch went out again on ih10 during noon traffic they would not cover it. the mechanic at transmission exchange told him that was not the case and that he stated that the slave cylinder was probably bent prior to their repairs six months ago. my complaint to philpott that if they agreed to cover the slave cylinder why would they not cover all the charges due to the fact this is a pull/push and if the salve cylinder was bent that it would cause this type of damage to the clutch. they refused to cover it costing $1,920.85. on september 16, 2005 the battery went out. . in august of 2005 the battery went out again. on the last week of august my daughter brought the vehicle to be serviced and asked why the air bag light was on and the technician told her the car was fine that he did not note any problems and that the light was on because it was telling her that everything was working. on september 05, the clutch started slipping again and we have parked the vehicle. everyone has been told the exact line. it was the driver and it's a wear and tear item. like the dealers have been told what update: the hyundai rep stated that there was not any abnormal wear on my clutch that the flywheel was the problem and that we would have to pay to have it fixed because, the flywheel is not covered under the warranty. *jb
