 While driving in the rain the battery light and brake light come on, the steering wheel freezes and power seems to lessen in the car. after a a few seconds the steering resumes. has occured during a turn, making the car go straight. there is no power over the steerign when this occurs, however, the brakes do work. the steering wheel becomes extremely rigid where it cannot be turned. has happended on at least 3 different occasions. almost hit by another car three times. the car has been taken back to the dealer two other times with no relief. they do not seem to know how to fix it. i have seen this on this site under steering: hydraulic power assist system
STEERING - HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

 Power steering fails while traveling through small pools of water on the road. the brake light on the advisory panel illuminates throughout the failure. after progressing through the water, power steering is restored. during a turn, total loss of control is possible. large leverage forces are required to handle the non-assisted steering during failure. hyundai dealer maintenance department reports that this is a know model problem but no remedy exists at this time. maintenance manager says he has had several tucson owners report this problem. *nm
