I have the electronic control hvac system in my sante fe. the air conditioning will work normal for a time period. then when it is turned on from the off position by using the auto mode it will sound like the air is blowing but only a slight amount of air will come out. if it is left on and in the high fan mode a dripping sound can be heard. the system will not reset itself until the vehicle has been turned off for a good length of time (sometimes hours). this is the second time i have experienced this same problem. it occurred last year (in july and august 2002) but was not fixed until october. the dealers remedy was to replace the temperature probe in the system. it took weeks to get the part in and by the time it was actually replaced the outside weather was too cold to properly test the system. it was obviously not the right fix because it is still happening this summer. the vehicle is going back again for repair.*ak

I have had my 2002 santa fe lx for only 60 days and the check engine light came on a week ago. when i called the service center they told me it would be at least a week till they could look at it, and that driving it with the light on wouldn't hurt it. five days later the car would not shift out of first gear when going up any hill when in automatice mode. needless to say i took it straight to the garage...i just heard from the mechanic yesterday and my shifting problems apparently were caused from a boken catalytic converter! i can't imagine how this could be broke on a 60 day old car! so far i am not too impressed with the service record of the santa fe! i have already had it in the body shop to have a part of the rocker panel repainted because it was peeling. it started peeling after i had the car 1 week, and continued to progressively peel until the dealer agreed to paint it.*ak
