Defect SummaryOn certain passenger and sport utility vehicles, the fuel filler hose may crack and result in fuel leakage from the hose while refueling.
Consequence SummaryFuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the fuel filler hose. recall began on february 27, 2006, for nissan owners, and on march 13, 2006, for infiniti owners. owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or infiniti at 1-800-662-6200.

 2004 infiniti fx 35 dash board bubble , fuel gauge problem can not read full tank or empty tank.

 2004 infiniti fx35 awd: fuel gauge faulty reading: the fuel gauge shows incorrect fuel gauge reading and low fuel light comes on when the tank is more than 1/2 full. the gauge reading can vary by about quarter tank at most times.

 Dt*: the contact states the nearest infiniti dealer to handle recall number 05v555000 is over 350 miles away in spokane wa . the contact called infiniti, to ask if a nissan dealership could do the recall remedy. the infiniti manufacturer determined the spokane dealership would have to pay the local nissan dealer to perform the recall remedy. the spokane dealer which is 350 plus miles away declined. the contact expressed there is no reason why the nissan dealer which is closer than the infiniti dealer can not handle remedy work since they are the same company.

 Dt*: the contact stated a recall letter, #05v555000 was received concerning the fuel system: gasoline. there is not a local infiniti dealership so a nissan dealer was alerted however they would not perform the necessary repairs. the vehicle has not had the problems associated with the recall. the manufacturer was alerted. updated 5/2/2006 - the consumer feels that she should not have to drive out of state to have the recall repaired. *nm

 Fuel gauge does not read full when filled with gas at the fueling station. my understanding is the fuel sending units need replacing. *nm

 2004 fx35- black smoke comes from the exhaust pipes when the car is started for the first time each day. i have shown the dealership video of this and yet they still are reluctant to admit there is a problem. my gas mileage is far less that the epa estimates. the transfer case has also been replaced twice in one year. *nm
