My third brake light went out so i went to the dealer to purchase a replacement led lamp. the price of the lamp was $185.00! the parts department said they are very difficult to replace as you have to remove both the trunk lining and rear seat to replace the led lamp. the labor to replace the lamp is $200.00! i have since noticed that about one half of the infiniti g35 and g37 models i see on the road have their high mount third brake light inoperative. this is with out a doubt due to the extremely high cost and difficulty to replace what should be a simple replacement lamp. *tr

Coming to a stop on an interstate exit ramp, the car slowed to about 25mph with normal braking at which time the brake stopped slowing the car. i pressed the petal on to the floor and the antilock brake mechanism stopped the car in about 150 feet. just before stopping, the car lurched forwards a few times. i had not been repeatedly braking on the interstate: a cause of brake fluid boiling which has been offered as an explanation of this failure in other incidents with this and the 350z. *tr

I had come to a complete stop at a crosswalk. my foot was firmly on the brake and the automatic transmission in drive. suddenly the car jumped forward in small increments with a sound indicating that the ant-lock brakes were releasing and applying the brakes in rapid succession. i stood on the brakes and the car stopped only to repeat the problem once more while i was standing on the brakes. in all the car moved forward about a foot. there was a pedestrian in the crosswalk directly in front of my car at the time and a second round of this problem would have caused the car to hit the pedestrian. *tr

I took my infiniti g35 to sf peninsila infiniti for crealking sound coming from the brakes. the dealer told me that my front brakes pads need replacement. the dealer also told me that the pads wore out the rotors and the rotors have to be replaced as well. according the dealer measurments, my rotors thickness where 23.91 mm, so 1.09 mm was eaten by the pads. i have driven the car mostly on freeway and the brakes have not been abused by any way. that leads me to believe that in harder use the rotors will be compromised. the dealer informed me that most owners must replace brakes and rotors in less than 15000 miles. i submit two issues with the brakes of g35: 1. safety - the rotors are substandard and can go under safe limit very easy since most customers does not expect extreme early wear. the same point can be made for the pads. it is possible the brake system interacts in unexpected way with vdc and abc so the pads become engaged in certain situations. 2. warranty coverage - i was charged $510 for front brake pads and new rotors. the infiniti g35 maintenance and warranty book explicitly list the pads as replaceble items, but does not mention the rotors. the dealer could not point out where in the infiniti warranty book the rotors are excluded from warranty coverage. since infiniti wrote the warranty book, if something is not explicitly excluded from the warranty, it should be covered. the dealer told me that infiniti specifically pronhibits him from replacing the rotors under warranty. in this case infiniti dealer overcharged me by $280 by what is the price of new rotors. the premature failure i had makes me to believe that infiniti g35 has problematic or faulty front brake design that may lead to incidents. finally, i requested the rotors and the pads in question. the pads have at least 5mm material left, so there is no question that the material of the pads or the rotors are defective. i can provide the pads and the rotors for further investigation.

I took in the car for an oil change and service for recalls and the service dept. notified me that the front brake pads on both sides were almost completely worn out and the rotors would need resurfacing. i purchased the car from the same dealer in april 2002 and the car was built in march 2002. the car presently has 17.5k miles on it. it is ridiculous, even with performance brakes, for them to fail at such a low mileage. my previous car that i traded in to this dealer was a 1998 320 hp pontiac t/a with an even greater weight and power than this car, and the brakes lasted 40k miles. i believe the brakes infiniti uses in the g35 should be replaced for free for the duration of the warranty since this is unacceptable. also, make sure your dealer puts something in writing that they will replace the rotors once they are serviced beyond repair. don't let the infiniti service dept. fool you into thinking the pads should only last 10-20 miles because they are performance brakes. complain enough and they may issue a recall. *ph

I bought this car used, should have checked this site first. i now have to replace my brakes once a year because they wear prematurely. that is a $1000 job. only have has the car for 3 years. last year in 09, the cd player stopped working with 6 cd's stuck in the changer, i had nationwide infinity look into this, when they said it would be $1400 to fix, but my year car has these problems. so i said forget it, i do not have this kind of money sitting around. then couple months after that, the radio would shut off by it self a couple times a week and come right back on. then just the other day, being june 5th 2010 my radio would not come on at all and i now have no control over my air condition. it is stuck on 70 full blast. now wasting a ton of gas also. i called nationwide to make an appt, when i discussed the issue, the service advisor then said let me guess, 2003 g35 i said oh, so you know this issue, he said yes we see it all the time, your looking at !600 to fix! i then call infinity headquarter to file a complaint to have them take care of the issue due to it being a known issue with no recall. im a single mom, so not have this money laying around. i think its a huge safety issue due to me not having any control over the front or rear defrosters! i am contacting all local news stations to get some help! *tr

Infiniti g35 sedans and coupes need front brake pad and rotor replacements every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. originally, infiniti was providing free brake pad and rotor replacements, then has changed their mind saying it's a performance brake; therefore, the brakes are expected to wear out faster. i've owned bmws, and they rarely required brake replacements prior to 30,000 or 40,000 miles. *la

The front brake pads and rotors on my g35 (one year old with 11,000 miles) need to be replaced as well as the rear brake pads, the car is not driven hard and the wear is extremely premature. it may cause a safety issue because the manufacturer does not admit/inform customers that this premature wear is an issue, they classify it as normal wear which it most certainly is not.
09/10/200311784005/13/2002
At 11,784 miles (after 16 months of ownership) i took my car to my local shop for its fourth oil change and tire rotation. my mechanic informed me that the front brakes and rotors on my 2003 infiniti g35 sedan were very close to being worn out. i drove to the local infinti dealer (infiniti of willow grove, pa) that same day and arranged for a service appointment. the following friday i dropped off my car, and was later informed by the service writer that yes, the front rotors were worn beyond specification and that the front pads were worn very close to required replacement. service writer said that infiniti would cover the cost of replacement rotors as a one-time goodwill gesture due to the low mileage on the car, but i was to bear the cost of brake pad replacement. i ordered oem front brake pads from grubbs infiniti of texas. i later brought the car back to infiniti of willow grove for rotor replacement under warranty. i then took the car back to my local shop, where they installed new oem front brake pads. i was also told by infiniti customer service reps that these are european-style brakes that wear out quickly in exchange for greater stopping power. in my previous car (1990 maxima), under similar driving habits and patterns, i would normally get 30-35,000 miles on pads and never had to replace rotors, only resurface. infiniti should be up front with prospective buyers regarding the low life expectancy of the brakes on the g35 sedan.

My g35 brakes are already in need of replacement at less then 20000 miles. my previous experience with brakes on other cars was always in excess of 50k miles. this short brake life should be noted in infiniti owners manual along with an explaination of why the owner should expect a poor quality service life.*ak

At 9.5k service (3rd), car had slight pulsing in the brakes. dealer confirmed warped rotors and machined. estimated remaining pad life only about 50%. car and brakes have been well maintained in mainly city driving. this is the fastest wear i have seen on any car i have owned in 35 years including numerous performance cars. dealer acknowledges many complaints for premature brake wear. this has also been a reccuring topic on infiniti web forums. dealer indicated infiniti used to cover this as warranty but is now balking at replacement under the guise these are high performance brakes and normal wear and tear. with the potential for ultra short brake life, some consumers may not believe the brake wear indicator squeal and not get the brakes checked in time to prevent failure. this could turn into a long term safety issue. this also maybe due to an unrecognized interaction with the stability control, electronic brake assistance and traction control leading to higher brake stresses and short life. this should be looked at for a techical service bulletin and watched as a long term safety issue as the cars age.

I first replaced the front brakes and rotors (which were warped) on my 2003 infiniti g35 coupe at 14,000 miles after they had been squealing since approximately 5,000 miles. before the replacement i had to add brake fluid, which should not occur on a new car. at 17,000 miles i have just replaced my rear brakes. infiniti obviously is aware of this problem because all brake repairs are free until 36,000 miles. but what about after that and why are they repairing one defective part with another defective part? i am truly concerned about this issue and the safety of my vehicle and its stopping capabilities. i know other owners have the same problems with the brakes and i feel something must be done about this before a catastrophe occurs. *la

I took in the car for an oil change and service for recalls and the service dept. notified me that the front brake pads on both sides were almost completely worn out and the rotors would need resurfacing. i purchased the car from the same dealer in april 2002 and the car was built in march 2002. the car presently has 16k miles on it. it is ridiculous, even with performance brakes, for them to fail at such a low mileage. infinti told me this is normal.i have a bmw 540 and its definetly not normal and this issue should be looked at. infiniti should repplave the brakes at least through the warranty period for free.*ak

When applying brakes at any speed brakes pulsate. there is also a high pitched sound, and extended stopping distance. rotors were warped. dealer replaced all four rotors 3 times, and resurfaced them once. at this time rotors needed to be replaced again. *ak

My brake rotors have been serviced, cut or replaced, (5) five times starting on 09/18/02 with 5,350 miles on the odometer. when the brakes were serviced at 15,409 miles, the fifth time, i was told infiniti will no longer service the rotors under warranty. i made a complaint to infiniti consumer affairs who admitted there were many complaints about brakes wearing out quickly. but, there was no answer as to why my rotors warped repeatedly, and why a master technician would not look at my car.*ak

Front brake pads on infinity g35 cause a pulsating action and are wearing prematurely. the dealer turned the rotors and the problem persists. infinity corporate will not let the dealer replace the brake pads, despite a public outcry for this safety issue. moreover, the rear brake lights would not illuminate when the brake pedal was applied. infinity corporate did allow the dealer to replace this under recall r3011.*ak

Bought my infiniti g35 in may of 2002, ever since day one, the driver's seats seems to be moving, rocking during acceleration and braking.. this seems to be a common problem on a lot of g35's. dealer's and infiniti has not relesase a fix that works yet after a year... i believe that this is a dangerous problem, because twice my foot slipped off of the brake pedal during braking and almost caused an accident..... there also seems to be a problem with life of the brake pads and rotors where they might fail prematurely... most drivers of the g complain that their pads and rotors are needing to be replaced as soon as 8,000 miles and are not covered by the warranty.*ak

2003 g35 cp 6 spd i was driving on the 60 fwy going west @ 2:30 am, traveling about 65 mph & all of a sudden, the car spin out & skidded across the freeway onto the dirt almost hit the center divider. i was shock! i was thinking man... what did it just happen? first i thought there were stuff like grease on the fwy that cause the spin out. but i walk to the freeway & there was nothing on the fwy. so i got back into my car try to move the car, but it would not move. it seems like the rear-wheel brake is locked, the car will not move. so i call the tow truck & tow my car to the dealer in riverside. then when the car got to the dealer, the mechanic went underneath and found out there were plastic got caught around the driveshaft. then they jacked up the car to remove the plastic, they've find out that the brake lines are twisted, that's why the rear brake locked up. so after the dealer gave me a quote to replace the brake lines. and i ask them isn't that a defect from manufacture? they told me no, they blame on me that i ran over the plastic & cause the brake to locked. does it make sense to you? brake is control by the driver, not any objects on the road. lucky there was no cars around at that time. and also there was not a freeway divider right next to me, or else who knows what could of happen. i could cause a big accident. so to me, this is a very major safety issue & now i do not feel safety & comfortable driving that car anymore, after i had almost lost my life. this incident happen once & it will happen again. and im not down to go through it again. so now, i am requesting the dealer to take back the car. the car is only 9 days old and only have a few hundred of miles on it. i spoke to the dealer, but they said they will not take back the car. can you guys help me out here? *jb

Upon taking my 2003 g35 sedan to infiniti of nashville to have my oil changed and the brake light switch replaced based on a national recall, the brake light switch was improperly installed causing my brakes to be locked. i was allowed to drive off the lot with my vehicle in this condition causing wear on my brakes as it appeared that no one test drove my car prior to the maintenance to ensure everything was operating effectively. in addition, my transmission appears to be slipping based on the incident. *la
