ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

My first issue:engine oil consumption i am an owner of a 2005 infiniti g35 5at. i bought it certified pre-owned at 62,000 miles 2 years ago. from last year (when the vehicle was at 78000) miles i started to have severe oil consumption problems. one day i took it to get an oil change and the mechanic noticed i only had one quart of oil left. by the next 1000 miles (after the oil change) the oil light kept coming on every time i braked. i pulled over and checked my oil and it was extremely low to the point i was scared of driving it further so i got it towed to the infiniti dealer. at that time i was out of warranty and they weren't able to help me. i started looking online to see if other g35 owners were experiencing the same issue and i was shocked to see how many were. right now i carry oil with me in the trunk knowing that it is going to be burning. i hope there will be something done about this as it seems a lot of people have been affected by this issue. my second issue: suspension and tire wear. ever since i purchased my car i have gone trough too many tires (last year alone i went through 3 sets). i am not a crazy driver and always careful on the way i drive especially after purchasing so many tires. i have bought aftermarket suspension parts (to adjust camber and toe as it is not adjustable from the factory) to try to alleviate the tire wear but it has not done anything. i am on my 5th set as of a month ago and i got a custom alignment done to maximize tire life but they have already detected uneven tire wear.

I own a 2005 infiniti g35 manual trans. it suffers from the common oil consumption issue. it was taken to the only local dealership in puerto rico and was denied warranty replacement because there are aftermarket parts on the engine. i believe this is illegal since they can't prove those modifications caused the condition since it's well knows these cars suffer from this. i have contacted them several times but they insist on their decision. they informed me several times they had submitted the claim to nissan usa but never answered any of my email and never answered my request for that documentation. i contacted nissan usa and they said my dealership had never contacted them and that i should deal with my local dealership since i'm in puerto rico. please help.

I have a 2005 g35 coupe w/ heavy oil consumption problems. my car is consuming roughly 3 quarts of oil every 2,000 miles and infiniti has done an oil consumption test and had one of their techs look at my car and they determined that i needed a new engine but they will not warranty a new one for me. the corporate hq told me they took pictures and a sample, that they have yet to show me and are going to void my warranty. i have since taken it to another shop and they don't agree with infiniti findings and corporate has still not sent me anything in writing or any pictures of their findings. all i got was a phone call saying they were going to void my warranty and i spoke with the service tech and he does not agree with the findings either and said that my modification to my car does not cause that much oil consumption and i am being shunned away by the dealership. i am also apart of a g35 forum and there are many threads/posts of people with the same oil consumption problem and they are getting the same treatment and i believe that this should be a recall on these engines and i need, along with other need to receive a new engine. infiniti/nissan knows about this issue but they will not come clean with their findings and are blaming the customer and i honestly do not think it is fair. *tr

I was told we can make a shout out for a complaint to nissan/infiniti for vq35de rev-up engines consuming a lot of oil at 1k miles. i own a 2005 g35 coupe 6 speed manual i have had 1 engine replacement for oil consumption problems and this being my new engine at 60k i am beginning to have the same issue again. i have to add 2.5 quarts of oil at 1k miles, and could damage my engine permanently infiniti has denied me extended warranty cause of this issue.. weak piston rings and or pistons are the culprit for our thousands of g35 6 speed manual rev-up motors drivers.. to need upto 3 engine replacements or denied extended warranties from nissan/infiniti i wish they would have a re-cal for these vq35de engines for these issues years 2005-2007

I did a oil change on my car this day. i also did the one prior to it. i put 5 quarts in, but only drained about 2-2 1/2 qts. the dealership said that it is a known issue and that they need to do my next oil change and start the oil consumption tests. they said that if it is a problem, they will take the appropriate steps and possibly have the engine replaced. *tr

The original engine in my 2005 infiniti g35 6-speed coupe was replaced due to a high engine oil consumption problem. infiniti had a service bulletin for this problem and replaced the engine. however the new engine still consumes the same amount of oil and has the same exact problem. the tampa infiniti dealership is now saying that it is normal although the new engine burns a lot of oil like the original engine. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 infiniti g35. at 32,000 during an oil change, the mechanic stated that there was no oil in the vehicle. at 35,000 miles during an oil change, the mechanic stated again that there was no oil in the vehicle. on january 8, 2008, the dealer explained that the manufacturer installed defective piston rings and his vin is related to the failure. the manufacturer stated that they would not honor the repair since the vehicle had a rebuilt title. the failure mileage was 32000 and the current mileage was 37000.

My 2005 infiniti g35 coupe has been experiencing high amounts of engine oil consumption. finally, i asked the dealer to perform an engine oil consumption test. through the course of 3 dealership documented engine oil consumption tests, my car has consumed 4 quarts of engine oil in some 2,739 miles. the infiniti dealer has advised me that this rate of engine oil consumption is acceptable by infiniti standards. that i now come to learn that 2005 and 2006 infiniti g35's and nissan 350z's equipped with a 6 speed manual transmissions have been plagued with this high rate of engine oil consumption for some time. should this issue not be a recall item for the consumer? *jb

Car has 9,300 miles on it and the engine uses approx. 2.5 quarts of oil every 2000 miles. i belong to a g35 forum and there are many others with the same car having the same problem. many are having engines replaced. mine goes to service in the near future. there is an obvious defect that should be addressed. *nm
